I like it. I just think many more changes have to be made before raising minimum wage.
If we raise the minimum wage right now with the current corruption, I'm not sure it would work. We have a low percentage of youth employment but charging a company twice as much to employ a worker won't fix it alone.
However, in an ideal world, Sanders' plan would make it lucrative for both the employer and the employee. He just has to whip congress in shape.

Australia is a good example to look at about how to properly raise the minimum wage.
If I hire an apprentice his starting wage is double the current minimum wage here. But I am also a skilled trade and it takes the right person to earn an apprenticeship.

It happened in Washington. People lost their jobs or their hours were reduced. Everybody doesn't automatically deserve good pay. Should be a carrot at the end of a stick. Something to strive for. Giving people something they don't deserve doesn't help them. Have you ever had employees?

Maybe not everyone deserves "good pay", but no one deserves to make less money/hour than when they started a job... unless they aren't performing to par, in which case, they should just be fired.

I've had people work for me but it's not quite a typical employee-employer relationship.
I don't think a living wage is considered "good money". I think a living wage means a person of one can afford to live in a humble dwelling, with food to eat, and transportation to go to work. I agree, there should be a carrot at the end of a stick to encourage the person making a living wage (which should be minimum wage) to go out and pursue more lucrative employment so he/she can afford cable television, a luxurious car, a spouse and children, etc...
But do you think it's justifiable that hard working people who don't get a raise, or who get a very marginal raise, make less money than when they started after you adjust for inflation?
I'm required what I pay my employees via the state apprenticeship program. They are also on probation until they get their journeymans ticket. I don't have too but I've also payed for their schooling out of my pocket. I'm bulletproof man. You can't tell me anything I don't already know about employees and you can't tell me I'm a greedy capitalist either. I also give bonuses. But if an employee gets all poisoness on me I show them the door. I've had them that appreciated it and I've had ones where it was never enough.

That's admirable. But you have to admit you run your business to an exponentially higher ethical standard than Walmart, yeah? You are the rare exception, not the standard.
Typically people who are looking to get into a trade have some drive. That and there are a ton of people waiting in line for a job like this so the competition is high. Plus it's Montana so their are a lot of farm kids who already have a good work ethic instilled in them from their upbringing. It's not a cesspool of people with their hands out yet.....but give it time....D.C. and the socialist ideologues are working their magic here too.
Compared to Obama, Bush was frugal. Under the Bush administration US debt climbed by a bit over 4 trillion in 8 years, Under Obama US debt has climbed another 10 trillion in under 7 years (yes, I know he's been there for over 7 but the chart I was looking at only recorded to the end of 2014)
The only reason that the US has been able to survive fiscally is that the US dollar has always been in high demand internationally because it is the currency in which the majority of international business is done (prior to WWII it was the British pound sterling). There is a move away from this practice in recent years and if the US dollar looses this status it is highly likely that the US economy will implode. The only means the US government has to continue to fund it's skyrocketing debt is via continuously printing more money.
Back in the 80's there was a short lived push to amend the US Constitution requiring a balanced budget, but it died quickly. Unfortunately then would have been the time to fix the problem since in order to balance the budget now would entail either raising taxes exponentially, or gutting services since entitlement programs and paying the interest on the national debt absorb close to half of all federal revenue.

I've had a lot of calls lately. I've really enjoyed my independence from employees. Lol. But I am thinking about hiring one again.....but it means I'll have to work harder. Lol
All anarchistic systems offer a utopia. (No govt. fetters etc.) They are blind to the fact that where there are two or more people living in close proximity there needs to be some type of govt. system.
Journeyman electricians are making 30 plus an hour in Mt. I don't know what they are in other states but Mt limits the ratios of apprentices to Journeyman and Masters.....1 master to 1 apprentice and then 3 journeyman to each additional apprentice.... and it keeps the wages higher for everyone in the trade. I think it's pretty similar with plumbers. In right to work states I've heard that its half or less than it is here. Right to work is socialism at it's finest.....but it makes everyone equally as poor I guess and it also lowers quality by a substantial amount cuz anyone can strap on bags and call themselves an electrician.
Speaking of work....I'm starting a fairly large project tomorrow and won't be around here much for awhile. You can all cheer if you want....it won't hurt my feelings. Hope you all find the job of your dreams where you can start a family, go on vacation, donate to your local church or buy favors from your favorite politician, buy your kids diapers and take out for dinner and birthday presents and have medical coverage and all that jazz.
