Baked Ham with maple syrup and cloze glaze
Serves about 20 people and cooking time 1 hour.
1 leg of good qualilty ham (approx 9 kg/ 19.8 lb pounds)
3o whole cloves - the black things
1 cup of brown suggar 7.7 oz
2 teaspoons of mustard powder
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup of maple syrup
Preheat oven to 356 deg farenheit
Remove skin from ham leaving the fat on. Score fat with a knife in a criss cross pattern then place a clove in each diamond . Place the ham in a large baking paper lined baking dish. Bake for 15 mins
2. Meanwhile combine sugar mustard powder, vinegar and maple syrup brush some of the glaxe evenly over the ham
Bake ham for a further 3o mins or until heated through the ham and golden brown and reaapplying the glaze frequently. remove the ham from the oven and rest for 10 mins before carving. Ham suitable for freezing
