You're deceiving yourself.
Truly, truly I say to you, the one who does not enter through the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up at some other place—that one is a thief and a robber. John 10:1

I am not deceiving myself.

It's kind of like this, HRFTD,
I hear someone say: I need a word. I don't understand what they mean.
I hear someone say: all my light is gone. It just disappeared. I don't know what they mean.
I hear another say: I can't seem to find Him...
And another say: I'm in a dark night
And another say: my water and bread are gone and I'm hungry and thirsty.

At some point, I understand that they are all saying the same thing and I DO suddenly understand them. I phrase it this way: God has put me on a fast from His presence.

I don't demand that they all say it the exact same way as me. I connect with them deeply where before I had no idea on earth what they were saying.

You just assume that Grace777 doesn't understand anything because you don't like how he says it. But the end result is the same. Righteousness is by faith in Him. Sanctification comes also by faith in Him. When we see that second part, we cease our labors and depend on Him to finish what He said He would finish.

You think Grace777 doesn't know God when others can plainly see so many graces and gifts of the Holy Spirit sprouting out of his ears.

From you, we see bitterness and anger and railing. That scares sheep and they run from it.

The enemy hates the talk of Christ's righteousness and what He has done for the believer in His finished work...it is the gospel of the grace of Christ.

This is where false-grace teachers try to deceive IMO. Prince said to focus on one's own righteousness, but here you try to shift gears by talking about Christ's righteousness.

It's a subtle deception because we are not the righteousness of GOD. Christ alone is. He clothes us with his righteousness, but we are not that righteousness. False-grace teachers try to make it look like we are.

The publican showed where the door is found - GOD have mercy on me a sinner. There is no other way. The one who exalts himself is trying to enter another way and will be humbled.

2 Peter 1:5 says that we are to add to our faith, excellence. This does not mean adding the knowledge of our excellence (which doesn't exist), but adding the understanding of the most excellent life that walks within the midst of our deadness.

Note that before Peter listed those qualities that he exhorted Christians to "become partakers of the divine nature" (2 Pet. 1:4). It's the spirit of Ben Franklin, not Christ, that causes one to look at character qualities like those and think, "I can work to achieve that."

The point is to continue to grow in grace.

Is bearing false witness a godly fruit? He supports false-grace teachers who teach discarding some of Jesus' words and who twist what the apostles wrote for their own agenda.

Good, the sheep need to, and will, run away from what he teaches.

Ironic. He bears false witness against others even as he accuses others of bearing false witness. That must be a giant redwood log in his eye.

Isaiah 54:14-15 (KJV)
[SUP]14 [/SUP]In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.

[SUP]15 [/SUP] Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.

[SUP]17 [/SUP] No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them." Rom 16:17

This thread is weird.

One day I am accused of being self righteous and asking can we walk righteously before the Lord, in purity and blameless.
Now to day because Joseph wants to confess God likes people saying they are "righteous" we should say it even though people know they are not.

If anything this sounds like taking an argument, which they are loosing and seemingly agreeing with it, while changing its meaning.

So you can say your are righteous in Christ, so do not need to be actually righteous in reality.

It is a wonder how this all gets made up. The aim is to create confusion and just deny the basic language of scripture.

It is by faith in Him that God says we are righteous. You can't then condemn us and call unrighteous what God has called righteous.

Obviously, I state it differently too. You saw that in my post. I know you think it is prideful of Grace777 to repeat what God has said about us. But anyone can see that there is fruit - gentleness, patience, blessing when cursed, kindness, love, joy. It's plain to see. So at some point you have to say, wait a minute, I really do see fruit here and not only that but I see it on a pretty darn consistent basis, so maybe I just THINK I know what is in this persons heart but am wrong because I can't see their heart...

In all these passages righteousness reference is real righteousness, not imputed or given righteousness.

So applying to this situation is just wrong. But if you want to change all the verses in scripture from meaning "their righteouseness" to be "Christs righteousness" that is your choice but it is just rewriting scripture and hypocracy if people are not walking righteously.

It is very odd to critise the pharisees for claiming righteousness which they did not actually have, and then doing exactly the same thing, and saying God is pleased by us doing this. You may as well put a gun to your head and blow it off, and say that is being sent to heaven by God.

My fellow believers of grace, let's arm ourselves with this truth as well:

"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake." Matt 5:11

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ." 1 Pet 3:15-16

GOD treats us as if we are righteous and is making us righteous (in truth), but he nowhere says that we are righteous. Such an idea undermines the whole Christian faith.

I'm so ashamed of the Christians here who not speak out against this man's false witness that Matthew 6:9-15 is an old covenant prayer not meant for new covenant Christians. GOD will be judge.

I have noticed a trend here. If a particular source comes out with a new version or way of expressing their theology, even if there is no scriptural support for it, it must be true.

To oppose this is now deemed as persecution, reviling and speaking evil.

You are now witnessing what they regard as perfection or the word of God in action, creating new insights into spiritual reality without regard to the Lord, His word or truth. It is they who now regard themselves superior over any issue they raise even if it is obviously wrong.

This is par for the name-it-claim false-grace scam. The bible nowhere says that we are the righteousness of GOD in Christ. In fact, that is the exact opposite attitude we are to have. Christ alone is righteousness. The pharisee thanked GOD that he was righteous, but the one who was justified said:
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as [his] eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified [rather] than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Luke 18:13-14

Are you sure that the bible says NOWHERE that we are the righteousness of God in Christ? But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference . . .Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Rom. 3:21,22,24

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (him who? Christ) 2 Cor. 5:21

But of him are you in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 1 Cor. 1:30

Yea, doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, NOT HAVING MY OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS, which is of the law,but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: Phil. 3:9

He clothes us with his righteousness . . . went to bible gateway and keyed that in for search - hmmm - nothing came up? How bout that "breastplate of righteousness" we are told to put on? Can't put something on if you don't have it . . . .

Very similar to the way cults operate.

They run us down as being utterly contemptible and ignorant persons, who from the fear of God and through faith guard against sinning even in thought or word. But they highly exalt themselves, and claim to be perfect, and the elect seed.

We are established in our faith by the works that GOD gives us to do, but they hold that they shall be entirely and undoubtedly saved, not by means of their behavior, but because they are spiritual by nature.

Our outer man is dying daily because of sin, yes.
But our inner man is being renewed.

I still say you just don't like the WAY they say it. It's a little bit controlling.

You can't just keep walking around praising God that one day you get to enter into the land and stand outside warning others not to enter because of the giants. And you also can't keep trying to claim that others haven't seen these giants in themselves just because they've moved past fear and pushed on into the land to take it.

If He says He'll take care of the giants, then He'll take care of the giants.

Yes, I am very sure. The righteousness that is given to us is the holy spirit. But we are not the holy spirit, and we only become righteous in actuality as we do righteous things by obeying the righteous spirit. So we are becoming the righteousness of GOD (as 2 Cor. 5:21 says) as we are conformed to his image through obedience; but we are in no way the righteousness of GOD.

The words put on mean to be clothed with.
