i didn't know about that (i think we all know i'm not catholic) ?
well shoot, man's nature is to be hostile to God - but i don't think that condones hostility toward God!

i know they still hold that it's immoral behavior condemned by scripture in old & new testaments, and teach celibacy. that much hasn't changed.

in a certain way it may be a shame that we don't exactly have Catholics around on these forums.. so they could explain the Vatican's position clearly to us & we weren't guessing at it. or maybe not. ?
The reason the RCC 1st prohibited priests to marry is as insidious as the rest of their doctrines.
They did NOT want a priests offspring to inherit ANY possession that would have reverted back to the RCC upon the death of the priest.

If you chose to shame me, beat me, blaspheme against me than that is your own accord.
i'm not trying to shame or "beat" you Richard, i'm trying to correct you when i see some lack of understanding. it's kind of what the Bible says we ought to do. :)
it's the same thing that goes on in every thread. they aren't 'personal attacks' -- this is how people who have different levels of knowledge & comprehension, and different views have discussions. they correct, reprove and instruct one another.

Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you;
reprove a wise man, and he will love you.
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser;
teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.

what in the world do you mean by saying "blaspheme against you" ??

do you understand what "blasphemy" is?
you can't 'blaspheme against' another person; blasphemy is against God Himself.
imma just assume you didn't know what the word meant, because the alternative is that you're calling yourself God.
((which would be blasphemy))

Ive shared this before but since you are new I'll share it again. I use to travel with my family in ministry. One night my father began to preach on how homosexuality was wrong according to the Bible. When we finished the service there was an alter call, a young man came forward. Later he spoke to my father and said that he was about to have a sex change,he did not know what he was doing was wrong but he had given his life to the Lord that night. He said he was no longer going to have a sex change. Should my father have remained silent? Or preached the Word. Because he did the latter a young man gave his heart to the Lord that night. Its never wrong to speak the truth.
The Father drew that young man. Your dad was the vessel from which the sword flowed. The spirit was in the house:)

Why did you ask me if your dad should have been quiet? It is evident here that he was being used by the KING!!
I have never said I am one to stay quiet when the Holy Spirit prompts but what I have said is many a time we speak out of our flesh and not from the spirit.

Ill telll you a little about myself: I do street ministry. I am not a baby christian. I am bolder than the avg "christian".I say that because the streets are not exactly flooded with saints spreading Gods good news are they?
I am one of those women who speaks up in this PC correct world. I love to share the gospel. I cant help myself . I am not shy about assisting the LORD by being his vessel in getting the good news out. But I have learned that there were times where I wasnt PROMPTED and I went ahead and opened my mouth. I felt it in my spirit that I had jumped ahead of Gods timing.

I know I am not speaking jibberish to those who are Gods own. We feel when God is teaching us and we feel it in the spirit that everything went wrong!! I FEEL IT IN MY GUT. Its all in our growing process throughout our sanctification. We arent born again with perfected skills at spreading the gospel. BUT, God being so loving and merciful, he just keeps molding us and loving us and he makes all things to work out for his glory.

Maybe both of us being in ministry are more use to listening to the Spirit? I feel the same as you do,its a gut feeling, like you have to say this,or do this, you know the Holy Spirit is leading. I appreciate that you do street ministry, which is not easy but you know sometimes I feel they are more open than the gospel hardened church folks.

I sang in downtown Toronto, both out in a local park and as the Salvation Army. We had people of all stripes. They are drug addicts, alcohol, prostitutes. But they were more open to the gospel than most of the churches I sang at. It was refreshing.

amen; i think the hardest person to reach with the truth is the one who thinks they already have it. you don't have to tell a drug addict what a mess their life is - they already know; you just have to tell them about the solution, not the problem.

probably some homosexuals need to be told how wrong their behavior is in God's eyes -- no different from any other sinner who thinks they aren't sinning. it doesn't end there --
-- but a lot of them don't need to be beat over the head with condemnation. what they need to hear is that mercy and grace have come to us from God; that they can be forgiven and made new. same as every other sinner.

was just running some errands and this song popped up in my car stereo's playlist -- reminded me of this thread, and some of the ideas in it.

I do not believe you can truly understand.
Still nosy. Based on what? I admit there are things I can't understand, but you don't know me well enough to know that yet. I can't understand .html enough to ever figure out how to use it. I can't understand most foreign languages. I liked science but I was never any good at it. I may never get what E = MC^2 means. (I know what the letters mean, but I don't get how that makes a formula. And how a formula somehow related to the speed of light measures energy.) But words? Words I get. So, how do you know I can't understand?

Try me. I'll either surprise you or confirm what you said.

I was raised Catholic. I learned that by doing some research back in the early 1990's. I know it's part of their doctrines, but forgot what the book is called that tells their doctrines since then.

(And you'd be surprised how many Catholics are still on here. All they have to do to stay, is not argue Catholicism.)

Truthfully? Being part of the Lord. The way you used it it sounds like I'm God's left elbow. I'm not.

even though i'm part of the body of Christ, disagreeing with me, or correcting me when i'm flat wrong, is not tantamount to "blasphemy" :p

2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:
3 Because I will publish the name of the Lord: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.
4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
