yeah...Halifax...I get lost almost every time...I am used to streets being laid out in a grid...and streets with signs...

My husband is American...we met while he was living in FL...I love Quebec...originally moved cause of all the political nonsense...have basically no family...so no ties

angel choirs...yeah....marriage is work and sometimes love is choice...in fact, a person needs to make a choice TO love...my husband is stubborn which is why we are still together LOL! seriously though, there is no such thing as perfection or constant romance in a marriage...people go in wanting their expectations to be met and we all have feet of clay

way too many Hollywood movies...I prefer action, mystery and sci-fi...but good sci-fi...not horror...oh and English comedey and mysteries...anyway...moving right along

Yes,I totally agree. Yes there is romance in marriage but if that is all people are expecting it wont last long. Marriage takes work,communication and self sacrifice. Too many people dont understand that. I think,thanks to movies, we have a very immature view of love.

I lived in Truro most of my life.Then moved south and also married an American :) I've been through Que. on my way to other places. But I love travel and seeing new places. I'm familiar with Wolfville, been there many times. I was trying to explain the Bay of Fundy to my hubby and how we have the highest tides in the world. I haven't been home in over ten years. I love the south and a lot less snow! lol I hope to take my hubby back one day though.

Truro? quite familiar with it...I kind of like Wolfville...and the outskirts

I like travel as well...

Regarding the tides...read something very interesting about that years back...apparently, the force of the water coming in as well as the rate, actually shifts the land mass...my husband loves to go looking for agates and such at the beach, especially after the storms...he has quite a nice collection

I guess I'm just too used to a different type of culture and activity...the winters here are...too long...and those gray skies!! no spring to speak of either...back in Quebec we always had such nice springs...here it seems to go from cold to hot...

I'm really not a chronic complainer, but I guess it sounds like it LOL!

Now hold up a second, everybody... The terms soul-mate, soul-tie, or life-partner DO have their place, just not in the New Agey sense of the words... And like I said, it doesn't have to be a romantic relationship.

For example, a soul-tie friendship:

1 Samuel 18:1 and 3
1And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
3Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul

I tell my husband its a nice place to visit,but you wouldn't want to live there! lol Yes, the winters are e-n-d-l-e-s-s! I was born in March and every year I couldn't have a party as a kid because of the storms. :( Poor me lol. And yes, grey skies,I moved south and when the spring hits I'm outside till December.lol I really don't miss home except the ocean.

Wow,lived there all my life and didn't realize the land mass shifts. I know years ago a group of young people at our church got their parents truck stuck on the beach with the tide coming in! They had to get a vehicle to dig the truck out.Somebody got in big trouble!!

Wow,that is a great call! I totally missed that. David and Johnathan certainly demonstrate soul mates.

I'm a March kid too! :)

I grew up mostly around lakes and mountains and I prefer them to the ocean...but I love water

I once almost got separated from the land by the sea...tide coming in...just managed to get back with my dog but had to wade through over 2 ft of water

so many folks get stuck out at Cape Split it seems....there are times when the tides are at their highest...when the moon is closest to the earth...people will set up tents on the beach not realizing that at certain times even the safe places can be inundated

but .. and here we will disagree...I do not perceive that as a soul tie

often, a soul tie can be damaging and it does not mean a close friendship such as David and Jonathan shared

I don't see where the passage is saying they had a soul tie....

I would not use those verses to condone what people are saying is a soul tie or soul mate

you can refer to post 3...or not... where I linked a couple of sites for more info

hmm, interesting. I honestly wasn't expecting to get this type of a response from most people. I never knew those terms as new age. I never considered them Christian terms but, to me, it didn't matter if they were Christian or not. I just figured there was some truth to those 2 words. I almost felt condemned by even mentioning them wanting to hear people's thoughts on it.

Personally, I do believe in a soulmate. Not because I've heard it from little up but, because of different things i've seen in relationships. People who are married and those that aren't. They just seem to work in perfect harmony w/ each other. I guess, as they call it have excellent chemistry btwn the 2 of them and I would often times consider these people as soulmates or as life partners.

Growing up, I always heard people, parents/school say, one day you'll find your soulmate (these are christians saying this to me mind you). And, inwardly, I believe it and feel it whether it's a new age term or not. I kinda didn't want to make this thread into whether or not the terms are religious or not. Doesn't matter now as I see most aren't for these words.

Knit is as about as close to a tie as you can get without using the word "tie." In fact, it's a stronger sense... it means to be woven together, not a simple tie.

Since I've pointed out that I am not talking about a "soul mate" with the New Age terminology attached to it, I do not believe that I am supporting an incorrect position.

How would you define a soul-tie, soul-mate, and life-partner?

I used to weld, so I am partial to that word. Although granted, it does sound a bit clumsy. Welded together?;)

Speaking of soul mates, don't ever, ever, ever place a Hershey Almond Kiss on top of a Caramel Rolo Candy and eat them together. Just don't do it!

I heard a crescendo of fireworks and a marching band playing Stars & Stripes Forever as soon as I began to chew these two chocolate sweets and knew I was hooked with that one bite. Oy vey!

Just because we have to break soul ties if there was an illigitimate relationship doesn't mean all soul ties are bad. Imagine a marrige without any soul ties. Hey who are you? You wOt m8?

The word soul mate is a word used to describe a love and passion for an individual that doesn't quite make sense. They tend to come in your life and then be gone, but you will surely learn something about yourself. It is a general terminology to say say hey we have this unexplainable connection. It is a worldly word. In essence you're drawn to this person and can't figure out why. The world makes the word SOUL MATE be this huge thing that it is important above all else. I usually summarize it as a LUST, a need to be with that person. BUT IT WILL NOT LAST!

A life partner....in my opinion is your spouse, whom should be your best friend, confidant, lover and partner through out all of lifes up and downs. Your life partner is a true and pure love. A forgiving and honest love.

ok...I see what you are saying better now

I define soul-mate as in my prior posts

you can absolutely be as close to someone as your own self...I really felt that way about someone once...

life partner...aka marriage? when people say partner now, it can mean same sex or together and not married

soul tie I don't like...sounds like something you might need to get rid of...LOL!...I think I value freedom more :)

I never understood the term life partner. Just sounds silly and non-commital.

I'm going to have a spouse in a few months. I'm pretty sure she'd slap me if I called her my life partner (and she's never slapped me). As for soul mate.... depends on the day... sometimes I prefer the term "soul crusher" (just kidding)!
