I think it's a safe assumption that if we can't change the antagonistic atmosphere of this forum with the love & humility of Christ Jesus, we can hardly expect to make a change in the world. What say you, peeps?

That's right!! right to bare arms, Sir. (wait that's the submission thread) I mean... bear arms..... not troll arms,

ummmmmmm nebermind
I thought we had the right to arm bears? Maybe I misread that....

Seriously, though.... I think that once a poster has displayed the commonly known characteristics of troll-hood, we should simply drop the thread like a hot rock, and recommend them for "banned-camp".

Arguing with them, or trying to "change their mind" is apparently not going to happen. Read again the quotes from the troll website. They WANT confrontation, and discussion/dissension. It's what feeds them.... just as fear/terror is what feeds terrorists.

If a terrorist has his finger on the detonate button of a bomb, that is not the time to discuss belief systems with them.

If he drops his suicide vest and says "please help me", then by all means, help him, but don't help him accomplish his twisted agenda by feeding into it.

I think the point was that sometimes when you try to identify them you end up rooting out the innocent ones, like young christians asking naive questions.

I'm not saying you do this, crossnote, but one thing I notice alot here, is when new christians ask questions that may seem dumb, or trollish, people ridicule them for asking. I'm a christian of several decades and I still ask dumb questions about the bible..lol :) IMO, the ONLY dumb questions are the ones that remain UNasked. So instead of giving a reply like, "that's a silly question", we should instead attempt to give an answer that is helpful to that new christian, or maybe refer them elsewhere to someone who knows more about what they're asking.
I am the champion of dumb questions! i was about to ask what a John 3 16 Christian was when i saw it in the OP but i figured it out before i posted. when i first saw it it didnt make sense, i was thinking all Christians thought Jesus was the Son sent from the Lord Most High but then i saw he was referring to trinitarians. i think thats what he meant.

A trinitarian would be someone who accepts the doctrine of the trinity.

The doctrine of the Trinity means that there is one God who eternally exists as three distinct Persons — the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Stated differently, God is one in essence and three in person. These definitions express three crucial truths: (1) The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are distinct Persons, (2) each Person is fully God, (3) there is only one God.

Trinitarians, simply are Christians who believe in the Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Ghost being three distinct "persons" but also one in the godhead. Orthodox Christianity has believed and affirmed this, especially since the Arian heresy in the 4th century.

A lot of cults do not believe in the deity of Christ, such as JW's. Muslims also do not believe in the Trinity.

I guess this is for another thread, but I would like to know how many people here do believe in the Trinity, and how many don't, and of course, why?

(Ducks and runs, hoping no one will hit her with a shoe, for starting yet another loaded topic!)

One example of the triune nature of the LORD is when Jesus was baptised. Holy Spirit was present, God spoke from heaven and Jesus in His earthly body.

As far as trolls, it is always my hope that God will prick the conscience of those who come here to disrupt and cause trouble. And I am referring to non-Christians, although there are Christians here who do the same thing, I will give them the benefit of the doubt, and believe that they are sincerely looking for answers.

I remember sometime last year, I believe CC went down for a while. I thought maybe my address had gotten corrupted, so I looked for a link to get back into CC from another direction. That search took me to an atheist website (OK, I got a bit diverted!) and a thread that was 5 pages long! It consisted of ways to harass Christians, specifically at CC. Many talked about the repeated profiles they had here, and one individual got banned 5 times.

I don't know why I was shocked, because we do see this all the time. But just to openly share their "techniques" for disruption, and targeting CC, along with multiple profiles really confirmed to me a few things.

1. CC must be doing a good job to get targeted by the devil so much. (Devil, because he motivates people to be evil!)
2. There is no such creature as the mythical "ethical" atheist. They really were trolls, their language was evil, their thoughts and plans were evil.

What more can I say?

I wonder.....

There seems to be a whole lot of new people dropping by just to start a thread sure to create a buzz in the forums. It's either some urgent family problem.... or a controversial relationship issue... or a seemingly innocent query about God or a scripture. The odd thing is, they never return to even continue the discussion.

RED FLAG. :p

Perhaps they're sitting behind a pc screen laughing their butts off watching Christians crawling all over themselves trying to solve their drama or answer their Bible question. Who knows?

Here's the thing. We should just point them to Christ and advise counseling. That's it. Because nobody on this forum is qualified to counsel strangers without knowing the genuine situation.

Willie_T posted an excellent response to one person who popped in just to drop a question about the scripture a few days ago. Willie said:

"Look it up."

That was the best answer ever because God is the only One who can explain His spiritual truth for Himself - His Word is alive! He knows exactly what people need to hear and it certainly ain't our opinions. Ya know?

Anyhow, I hope in the future we can learn to refrain from trying to mob rush people with our own understanding.

Ethical atheists exist, there's bunches of them. Holland is full of them. They're the ones that don't bother anyone on christian forums. They just don't believe God exists. As soon as they're on these atheist websites it's more like a religion, although I did also meet normal ones on forums. That guy that trolled a Dutch forum was funny. He was from an atheist website and he really wanted to help us get rid of this weird religion. At last when I had spoken to him there because they immediately banned him, he found out it was no use to try and convert christians to atheism, so he gave up. He pretended to be a religious nutcase, but I saw it immediately, since he didn't know the Bible.

To come up against them and see their plans and plots up close and so plainly witness what they are up to is shocking. I remember when I stumbled upon the site where I first discovered apologetics, and how shocking it was to my sensibilities to have people hating on me and lying to me and about me simply because I was Christian. They would disagree with what you said just because you as a Christian said it, LOL. I was a relatively new Christian at the time, and I saw more seasoned Christians sinking under the weight of betrayal they experienced from the atheists they thought were their friends. It was incredibly challenging to remain in contact with such people (atheists, agnostics, wiccans, polytheists, secular humanists, non-believers etc) over a sustained period of time, but I stayed for four years, until the site was revamped and all the forums were removed. It had been one of the most popular secular sites on the web for a time, and the religion forum was always the busiest. I then went to another site, which was Christian owned and moderated, and stayed there for another almost four years. Having the site moderated by Christians made a bit of a difference, but the atheists seemed all the more sophisticated and hardened in their positions, and would ask the same questions over and over again as if they had never been asked and answered before. Sometimes they would even say that nobody had answered their questions, when actually many answers were given, sometimes largely in harmony. It really highlighted for me how hard hearted toward God they were, and unlikely to change. I have peeked in a few times more recently and seen the same old same old going on. It is disheartening in a way. I also think that talking to atheists online for eight years really influenced how I speak to people online in this type of environment, especially having to acknowledge that Christians sometimes behave just as bad as or worse than non-believers.

To call yourself a Christian is to put a target on yourself as far as some atheists and maltheists are concerned. We are blamed for the history of the church as if we were personally responsible for every evil ever perpetrated upon the world. Jesus said we would be hated. Even that they will mock. Nothing is sacred to them but their perceived intelligence and the intelligence of those they lionize. That they hold sacred, always crowing about how much smarter than theists they are, how much more rational, how much more logical, more sane, not delusion with imaginary friends, how much better informed, more open minded, better educated, how brainwashed we all are, how incapable of thinking for ourselves, yadda yadda yadda. It became crystal clear that their problem really is pride. I think I understand the problem quite well also having been a non-believer for almost fifty years, myself.
