"You are what you repeatedly do."

Hello friends! This is a thread to inspire and motivate others who are a) beginners in setting good habits for having a better relationship with God, leading to a better life and b) for those who are struggling with perseverance in keeping their commitments to have a better relationship with God, leading to a better life.

Having been inspired by our friends over at Fitness thread, I thought this would be inspiring to some of us who need the encouragement to keep on keeping on, trying to remain in perseverance, pressing forward to achieve the life that God has set before us. :)

If you have decided to add at least one good habit in your life, and you are working on it daily, this thread is for you! If you desire to start a lifestyle of good habits, this is also for you! If you wish to inspire those who are already in this race, this is for you.

A habit can be as easy as, smiling at yourself in the mirror every morning or as grand (at least, for me, it is grand) as reading for an hour a day.

“Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.”

---

Here goes mine: I've started this habit of reading for at least 20 minutes a day, since August of 2015. I was very undisciplined then and was very inconsistent at that. This year, I'm doing better. And I got to finish 17 books since that day I made the commitment.

It's your turn!

Well, I need to improve this habit, but checking the prayer request forum and responding to it several times a day.

I don't think I have any regular habits.

I do read a lot, but in bulks.
I try to go for a walk every day, but some days I just can't be bothered :p

Uhm...
I eat breakfast every day. Whole grain bread with cold meat or cheese on it.
(It is quite frustration for Norwegians to be abroad, as we are not used to having egg, bacon, sausages etc for breakfast, so while the locals most places dig in, we are the boring ones looking for bread and spreading :p )

I am first generation Canadian and I so understand about breakfast!

I will eat salami on rye or cheese or cold cuts...even with onions..so hard to find good rye bread in some places!

love that pickled herring in jars and a bunch of other stuff that makes my American husband look at me like I am eating at a fire in a cave

LOL!

habits...hummmm...I really do not do good on always doing the same thing...I need variety...maybe variety is a habit?

oh correction.....I do try to pray and read before anything else...day can go south pretty fast if I don't!

must be God's way of reminding me how much I need Him! :o

a habit i'm trying to make consistent.

i sometimes randomly wake up at night, and then i start thinking of all the stuff i need to do that day, which means i don't fall back asleep right away because i start to worry. so instead, i wanna pray instead of worrying :)

I know right? It's weird, but if I don't start the day off with prayer/bible reading, I have a much harder time of it!

yup...it's like...'hello? aren't you forgetting someone?'

it's good!

oh another habit i'm working on:

eye contact.

i used to have a difficult time making eye contact with others, but it's becoming easier each time i practice it :o

One habit I have that I feel is important to do is, tell my family and close friends that I love them when we say goodbye or when we hang up. Tomorrow is never promised so it's good to let them know you love them. My kids pick up on this habit too.

Ish...me too! I can 'most always look at them when they're talking to me, but when I start talking to them I get too shy :o

A great habit!!! I know from experience how hard it is wondering, wait did I tell them I loved them after being told some one suddenly passed.

I admit to having a very bad habit: I actually pay attention when I drive.
