Jesus fulfilled all the law. Now we believe in Him and His life in us which is love fulfills the law. A Christian would never have to ever read the 10 commandments and he would live out the law by Christ's life inside of him.

The purpose of the law has been fulfilled. The 10 commandments are called the ministry of death. 2 Cor 3:7

The purpose of the law was :

1) To reveal our sinful state. Rom 3:20

2) To inflame sin Rom 7:8

3) To minister death in us Rom 7:10-11

4) To lead us to Christ Gal 3:24

The law is good! But the purpose of the law was not for righteousness or salvation at all, it was to manifest sin in our lives, so that the purpose of grace which is in Jesus is to manifest salvation. Grace does not set aside the law, but completely satisfied it.

Col 2:13-15 is where in says that Christ "disarmed" satan having cancelled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us and He nailed it to the cross. Satan uses the law against us. Satan comes and says to you - you broke the law - you are condemned now according to the law. BUT our Lord took that punishment for breaking that law for us. When Christ takes away the condemnation of the law which satan uses against when he accuses us - he is being "disarmed". If disarmed means anything - it means he did have a weapon but now he doesn't because of our Lord. How great is our salvation in Him!

What is the Law Written on Our Hearts?


Six-hundred years before Jesus came, the prophet Jeremiah spoke of a new covenant that God would make with his people:

“This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their
minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.” (Jer 31:33-34)

What is the law that God writes on our hearts and minds? Here are three things it is not:

• It is not the law of Moses. As we saw in the last post, if God wrote the Ten Commandments on our hearts then Jesus died for nothing.
• It is not a new and improved version of the law. It is not the new commands of Jesus or the New Testament. We cannot please God by keeping a new law any more than we could please him by keeping an old one.
• It is not the knowledge of right and wrong that was bestowed upon us – against the Lord’s wishes – by Adam.

So what is this law that the Lord writes on our hearts and minds and embeds in our very being?

It is Himself.

Let’s look at three things the New Testament says about the new law in our hearts.

1. The law of love

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. (John 13:34)

Under the old law covenant, love was demanded from you. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.” But under the new covenant of grace, love is given to you – “As I have loved you” – and out of the overflow of Christ’s measureless love we are able to love others.

How does it happen?

God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. (Rom 5:5)
God abundantly pours his love into our hearts by giving us the Holy Spirit, a.k.a. the Spirit of Christ. Do you see the difference between the old and new?

• Under the old, the law was a rule for weak men to obey. Under the new, the Law is the Spirit of Christ given to us, loving us, and loving others through us.
• Under the old, you loved others because you feared punishment. But under the new, you love because a Lover lives in you and it is his nature to love.
• Under the old, you had to make an effort to obey. But under the new you have to make an effort to disobey. It’s a whole new way of life.

2. The law of the Spirit of life

It’s important that you understand the difference between the old law (a written code you can’t keep) and the new Law (Christ himself, living in you). Try and live by the old laws, as Paul did, and it make you miserable:

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? (Rom 7:24)

Paul couldn’t keep the old law no matter how hard he tried. He needed a new law and that new law is a Who:

Who will rescue me…? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Rom 7:24-25a)

Do you see? The old law is a what; the new law is a Who. The old law ministers condemnation and death (2 Cor 3:7-9), but the new “law of the Spirit gives life” (Rom 8:2).

For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. (2 Cor 3:6)

Who gives life? Not a set of rules, but the Spirit of Christ within you. The new law is a Who.

3. The perfect law of liberty

James wrote of “the perfect law that gives freedom” (Jas 1:25), which can be contrasted with the law of Moses that binds (Rom 7:6). What is the perfect law that gives freedom? Well, what is the implanted word that can save you (Jas 1:21)? It’s not the Ten Commandments or the Bible. It’s Jesus, the living Word who sets us free.

The perfect law of liberty describes what Jesus has done (perfectly fulfilled or completed the law) and the fruit he will bear in our lives (liberty) if we trust him.

But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it – not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it – they will be blessed in what they do. (Jas 1:25)

Look into the mirror of Moses’ law and you will be miserable, for it exposes all your faults. But look into the perfect law which is Jesus and you will be blessed, for it reveals his righteousness.

“Don’t just listen but do what it (the perfect law of liberty) says” (Jas 1:22). In other words, allow the Spirit of Christ to convince you that in him you are righteous and holy. Don’t walk away from the perfect law and forget who you are in Christ. Fix your eyes on Jesus. Look intently with an unveiled face and be transformed into his likeness.

The Law written in our hearts is Jesus

Jeremiah said those who had the new law written on their hearts would know the Lord and would no longer need others to teach them. This is describing your union with Christ. One with the Lord you have the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16). His Spirit dwells in you and teaches you all things (John 14:26).

The law of the Lord written into your members is your Father’s spiritual DNA. It is the seed of God birthed in you by the Holy Spirit.

It’s Jesus Himself.

How do you know he’s there? Because you are a new creation with new hopes and desires. You no longer want to sin. Your desire is to love God and others and that desire has nothing to do with old rules written in stone.

Christian, you are who you are because Christ lives in you. He is the new law written, by God, in your heart and mind

11. We have died to the law so that we may serve in the new way of the Spirit and “not in the old way of the written code” (Rom 7:6).

12. When there has been a change of priesthood, the law must be changed also (Heb 7:12). For God to write the old law on our hearts would be like saying Aaron is greater than Jesus.

13. God found fault with the law-keeping covenant and made it obsolete (Heb 8:7,13). Why would God insult his Son’s sacrifice by giving you the very thing his sacrifice rendered obsolete?

14. The law is a shadow of the good things to come and not the reality (Heb 10:1). Why would God give you the shadow instead of “the good thing”?

15. The Jews considered the law to be ordained by angels (Heb 2:2). If so, says the author of Hebrews, then it is inferior to the gospel of Jesus (Heb 1:4). Why would God give you an inferior gift?

16. Some Christians think that God gives them the law as a guide to live by, but why would God want you to repeat the mistake of the Galatians (Gal 3:2)? Why would God do anything to make you fall from grace?

17. The old law-keeping covenant required an accounting or remembering of sin, but the new covenant is characterized by God forgiving and forgetting on account of Jesus (Heb 10:17). If the law that God writes in our hearts is the law of Moses, then Jesus died for nothing.

If God has written the Ten Commandments on your heart and mind, you should be able to list all ten with no trouble. Can you? What’s the seventh commandment? My post, the OP, is stressing the wisdom of God's will. It is not being under the law, and it is not being under licentious grace.

As for my English, perhaps it is not perfect, but it is quite clear, with all its faults.

This is excellent work brother! So many get trapped, myself included at one time, that we have to walk this tightrope of Salvation. Too much sin and we fall one way (Licentiousness) trying to keep the law too hard (legalism) we fall the other way. God says, just like He did to Joshua, NO. NEITHER way is right. HE will keep you from EVER falling. Trust Him. Eyes fixed on Jesus with love and inexpressable gratitude.

Coming to thing more on the thread. Why are some people saying I am suggesting "going back to the law" when I recommend people learn the law according to the teaching of Jesus Christ.

This is a desperate attempt to make me look bad, even evil.

I cannot do anything to aid in my own salvation, nor can anyone. I rely totally on the grace of Jesus Christ because of His Blood shed for my sins.

None of the above translates as being disobedient because I live in grace, so do not suggest this ever, for it is judging another's servant..

Desperation is the last stop before perdition, so do not be afraid to learn the wisdom of God. This is better than being His critic, for His ways are perfect, not yours or mine.

AGain I ask, please pay attention to the content of posts before acting as if you are replying to them.

Pay attention to what the Father likes, while you live in grace being a new man, a child of obedience and not like the previous, a child of disobedience.

ONLY Jesus Christ is perfect and He is this for us all, yet we are to follow in His steps, not in the same ssteps of one mistake after another as we did previous to coming to Him. Yes we are encouraged to be as He was in the flesh, knowing H was perfect for us, but never deny the wisdom of God according to Jesus Christ's teaching and Example or you are putting yourself above the Master and Savior.

If any believe grace he will live in the freedom of grace while imitating the behavior of God, Himself, Jesus Christ. If this is not plain enough, I am afraid nothing will be. BE a free child of obedience living in grace, and do not fault God's will.

I understand, I think, what you are getting at. I have been on the receiving end of the "Thou shalt" thing. and reversing them (the commandments) is one way to look at it, here is another, and it sits nicely with the other comments; Change the word "commandments" to the word "Promises". Commands are Hard and unmoving, something to 'follow'. Promises are soft and something that leads to expectation.
With The Spirit of Christ in us, the ten commandments turned to promises are;

Turning the commands to promises was accomplished on the cross, and I agree with you in that they need changing round and indeed they are in Christ.

The bottom line is,

There is wisdom in the Law of God according to the teaching of Jesus Christ.

We should do our best to live according to the Example of Jesus Christ., and His teaching.

No where have I even intimated that man, any man, will ever be saved by his own effort in any manner.

I do, howver, point to the wisdom of the Law of God as taught by Jesus Christ, and His example.

No child of God who lives in grace will be deliberately disobedient, and no one here will convince any who believe Jesus Christ otherwise.

If being obedient makes anyone uncomfortable, he should be.

The Ten Commandments in reverse, just so people can get what Jaume is seeing (and stopping the assumption we don't need them anymore.)
1. I am the Lord. I am the center of the universe and all shall bow before me. Being the center of the universe, everything thought, said or done should be all about ME. It doesn't matter what you think. It only matters what I think, so get used to it and do it that way.

2. The only good selfie is a selfie about me. If it is not about me -- and it should be -- then it has to be about something I like, because only am I the most important one in the world. I will reject all you think, say or do, unless it's about me. You can never be right, because I alone am always right and that is what everyone should be thinking, saying and doing 24/7. If you dare disagree my wrath shall follow you all the days of your life, your children's lives and their children's lives, because I am the center of attention.

3. Do not speak ill of me, for I am not something negative ever and you are always negative. Do not curse me, for you miserable peon cannot curse someone as important as me, and my name is just too important. So don't even think it, because I alone am worthy to be glorified.

4. Take some time to glory in me. What you do is strictly unimportant unless what you do is about me. Take time off from work, (and I must assume your work revolves around me too), but I get lonely, so want special time to be glorified, so take that time off just to glorify in all things about me. One day a week should be spent solely in the pursuit of glorifying me, because I am the only thing special in this world.

5. My parents are nothing for I am the center of the world.

6. If you are an idiot, I have full rights to correct you. If you will not be corrected to see that I am the center of the universe, than I alone have full rights to kill you miserable peon.

7. Don't ever, ever think there is anyone else to love but me. Let me fill you in thought, word, or action. I alone am worthy to be the center of the universe and you are nothing without me, so I get to give my love to whichever miserable peon I choose.

8. I am the center of the universe so everything in it belongs to me. It does not matter that you put in the time and effort to get something, because it is far more important that if I want it, it belongs to me.

9. You are a sniveling people, something worthless, because I am the all. Get over that anything is about you, because it's always about me, and I am able to say that from the height of my being. Only my character matters, so don't ever think it has anything to do with you. If I say it, it must be true. If you say it and it's not about the great me, than you are worth nothing. You are worth nothing so you do not matter.

10. You cannot have a better spouse, car, home, gizmo, vacation, vocation, salary, or pet, for I am the center of the world. Learn to live with less because I deserve it all.

And that's what we all think without God's real Commandments staring us right in the face. Given we have no knowledge other than how important we are, and that is false in itself, God did clarify what he's real thinking is, considering our propensity to think we are the center of the universe.

It's past time thinking we know better!

the last chapter of the last book of the Bible teaches:

"Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to
the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city" (Revelation 22:14).

Since it is only "those who do His commandments...{who} have the right
to enter...the city" , the ten commandments could not be "contrary to us."

Actually, it is only those who will not keep the ten commandments that are denied access.
Revelation specifically shows that those who break one of at least four of
the ten commandments will be outside God's city (Revelation 22:15).

or certificate of debt was wiped away and nailed to the stake, which some call a cross

the expression "the handwriting of requirements" (cheirógrafon toís dógmasin)
is a Greek legal expression that signifies the penalty which a lawbreaker had to pay

--it does not signify the laws that are to be obeyed--only the penalty. It is only through
the acceptance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that the penalty was wiped out
("the handwriting of requirements").

But only the penalty, not the law!

Even some Protestant commentators realize this is so.
Notice what Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible states about Colossians 2:14:

Whatever was in force against us is taken out of the way. He has obtained for us
a legal discharge from the hand-writing of ordinances, which was against us (v. 14),
which may be understood,

1. Of that obligation to punishment in which consists the guilt of sin. The curse of the law is
the hand-writing against us, like the hand-writing on Belshazzar's wall. Cursed is every one
who continues not in every thing. This was a hand-writing which was against us, and contrary
to us; for it threatened our eternal ruin.

This was removed when he redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us,
Gal 3:13. (from Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible: New Modern Edition,
Electronic Database. Copyright (c) 1991 by Hendrickson Publishers, Inc.).

In addition, let us look at the Greek term exaleipho translated as "wiped out" in Colossians 2:14:

In other words, exaleipho has to do with wiping out sin. This is also confirmed in Acts 3:19
where Peter also uses the term exaleipho, which is translated as "blotted out" below:

19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out,
so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.

Hence, it is sin and the related penalties that are to be blotted or wiped out.
And the penalties could vary from "being unclean to the evening" (Leviticus 11:24-28)
to making an offering (Leviticus 5:5-6) to being "cut off from his people" (Leviticus 7:27)
to the death penalty (Exodus 31:14).

This is also confirmed elsewhere in the New Testament:

13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us
(Galatians 3:13). The curse of the law is related to the penalty. And Jesus paid it.

But what about the law of God? Was the law of God to be wiped out? No:

17 "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets.
I did not come to destroy but to fulfill (Matthew 5:17)


While some erroneously think that Jesus, for example, did away with the Ten Commandments
by how He led His life, that most certainly was not the view of the early Christians who
continued to keep them[Paul included]

Furthermore, remember that the Bible clearly teaches that sin is lawlessness:

Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you know that
He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. (I John 3:4-5).

Notice that Paul wrote:

Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not!
How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? (Romans 6:1-2).

Thus the New Testament makes clear that the law of God continues,
thus it was not nailed to the cross or somehow wiped out.

The Bible, however, also shows that the requirements of the Levitical priesthood
(Hebrews 9:1,6-10) sometimes called the law, which were part of the penalty of sin,
were blotted out.

And why?

"For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins...
By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus
once for all" (Hebrews 10:4,10).

Jesus' one sacrifice was and is sufficient--we do not have to sacrifice animals any more!

Another requirement (which is related) would be the death penalty of sin,
as "the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord"
(Romans 6:23) or other specific ceremonial penalties associated with the Old Testament
statutes (such as making a sin offering, being put outside the camp, or washing).

The curse of the law

Many believe the law itself is “the curse” but scripture tells us Gods law is holy, just, and good
“Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

”So what was the curse?

The curse of the law came in by 2 ways, the first is shown here in Deuteronomy 27:26
“Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them.And all the people shall say, Amen.”


The first part of this curse has to do with sin as it is written in Romans 7:10-11 “And the commandment,
which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment,
deceived me, and by it slew me.”


Again we see the law was ordained unto life, but the curse came when man could not keep the law
because of the weakness of his flesh and sin. So who’s the bad guy here, the law, or sin? I

f you answered sin then you would be correct.

Now for the second part of the curse, which is swearing to the oath. It is written Galatians 3:10 “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.”

After Moses had read the law, all the blessings and the curses, the people then bound themselves to the oath by agreeing to keep everything that was written in the law. The word oath in Hebrew can also be defined and shown as the word curse in scripture. And swearing to an oath can also be shown as binding ones soul to a curse as in Nehemiah 10:29 “They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God's law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;”

And in Daniel 9:11 “Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.” And here is where the curse came in by swearing themselves to the oath in Numbers 30:2 “If a man vow a vow unto the Lord, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.”

And so being unable to perform the vow to God to keep the whole law, because of the weakness
of the flesh and of sin, then the curses mentioned in the law were put into effect.

Which is why Jesus said Matthew 5:33-37 “Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.”

And here again also in James 5:12 “But above all things, my brethren, swear not,
neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your
yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.”

And a word to the wise, if you ever have to go to court and are asked to forswear
yourself to an oath, or any other vow or oath for that matter…don’t do it! Peace.

Since you have a copy/paste sermon in stock, then start your own thread to copy/paste it! That's just good manners, even before being good as a believer. Did you even read what he said? For that matter, did you even read your copy/paste sermon before pasting it? Because they have very little to do with what Jaume is saying.

Yes, people do tend to post without reading the OP, and reply without hearing the messages throughout in response to those attempting to drag me into their arena of contention.

Anky here wanting to have another grace/law contention please start a pòst on that subject. This post is not on that eubject except for those who have dragged it into my OP........Do not place me with being a leagalist or a person who thinks he has doen anyting other than to accept Jesus Christ as Lord, god and Savior.

If you come in to the thread and are talking to to others about what they have introduced as being in the OP........please do not do this, get on track or just get. Sorry, I am tired of peple acting as though they are re4sponding to what is posted by the OP, and are not. This is very close to lying.

Col 2:13-15 is where in says that Christ "disarmed" satan having cancelled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us and He nailed it to the cross. Satan uses the law against us. Satan comes and says to you - you broke the law - you are condemned now according to the law. BUT our Lord took that punishment for breaking that law for us. When Christ takes away the condemnation of the law which satan uses against when he accuses us - he is being "disarmed".

For the life of me I will never understand why so many translate the phrase "written on our heart" to mean Jesus took the law of his Father and threw it in the garbage. A law that was written in stone. Which don't mean temporary.
