I realize it is possible to recind a like once it is given , but what about just disliking a post in general? Many forums use a 'karma' system for both positive and negative, and that would be very handy here. Yes, we can choose to ignore posts or avoid reading them, but a dislike button would be nice to point out to some people when their views and posts are going off the rails without the need to report them to a moderator.

I like that better than some of the ones I had considered.

Honestly, a dislike button would be nice so when somebody decides to get the soapbox out and start spewing whatever craziness manifests itself, that the person can get the hint in a non-combative way that their posts are not appreciated and it would help new people to see who has a negative reputation so they could steer clear and not be run off by some of the...folks with odd views.

This has been suggested and turned down already.

Well, I'm bringing it up again. If it gets turned down, thats the decision of the Administrators. I'll let them decide, but I'm not going to just fold on the idea because it was brought up sometime in the past and rejected.

GC, how about a button that looks like this:

And do you really think getting dislikes is going to shut anyone up? The people getting all uppity aren't going to be phased by a dislike, they aren't phased by people directly confronting them.
It's a silly idea. Do you really need to give people your disapproval so badly? Seems to me if you don't like what someone says, then speak up. If you don't care enough to speak up then it must not be that important to you.
Really all that will happen is people misusing it. Look at how people in the BDF talk to each other now. Adding a dislike button will only give them more ammunition.
I see the whole idea as nothing but a way to nitpick without putting yourself out there. Speak up or go away quietly.

Ugly, that was a bit much, don't ya think? You wouldn't like it if someone knocked your idea out of the way like that. :(

I can see GC's point perfectly and I think it's a good idea. It certainly would be helpful to me.

Another board shut it down because it became a source for fighting. You need to have tranquility on a message board for the users.

Maybe he's trying to demonstrate the need for a dislike button, by writing an obnoxious post that almost everyone dislikes?
