I have pizza, I have movies, I have ice cream. I even have some toppings for said ice cream.

Red 2 anyone? It's nice to see Helen Mirren playing such a different character. I've seen all the rest. Well, actually, I can't honestly say that I've seen either The Notebook or Titanic in their entirety; I skipped the ***SPOILER ALERT*** bits. ;)

I'm not into most chick flicks and I thought The Notebook was one. But this friend of mine who drives a bus for the city and is a tough kinda guy, a rowdy biker on the weekends, he says to me that The Notebook was one of the best movies he ever saw. So I was like, "Ok, I'll have to check it out."

Well, the first time I watched it was kind of a downer to me. But when I watched it again, it started to grow on me. I've prob'ly seen it 5 times by now and I can say it's a really touching movie. But it's too sad. :p

That's the truth. Telling someone they "need" to smile has never, in my experience, made anyone more inclined to smile. I think it's better to do something that makes them smile than to tell them they should.
The issue, is that if they really cared, they might realize that those types of comments while they might have good intention are not actually that caring, and can be hurtful.

I don't know what they're like in Aussie Land. Here, in CA (L.A., specifically), the suburbs are kind of entwined with city/industry; there is no country unless you drive out of your way to find it. Residences neighbor markets, schools neighbor shopping squares, and my local downtown area - which is fairly quaint - shares a couple of blocks with medical buildings. Definitely convenient, and definitely packed together.

But pop culture seems to paint a scene of stretches of dull, cookie cutter homes and a caricature of 9 -5 life where everybody knows everybody - and their business. The truth is, many communities here are pretty devoid of community, and nobody knows anything about anyone outside of Facebook.
