Not a bright idea....as the authors of the Koran always point the reader back to its source, the Holy Bible.

Thus...knowing that the Koran can only copy, where would the Holy Bible state that Jesus knows the hour?

It doesn't because He didn't....and that's inspired scripture.

How many Muslims have you brought to Christ using your personal interpretation of the Koran?

The one overriding essential characteristic of the biblical Jesus is that He is God.

So, yeah, the Jesus of the koran is "another Jesus".

Or as my Bible states: There are no other Jesus', only one and the Korans version is not He! So, for me: "bye-bye Koran." God says, don't fight over disputable matters, but when it comes to violating the deity of Christ - it matters.

Bowman claims he is the first person (he knows of) to have properly translated the Koran. So, his argument is that the Koran you might be familiar with is inaccurate.

It would surely be helpful (in supporting his argument) if his translation was actually widely accepted verses widely unknown.

Don't keep selling Jesus short.

You are apparently basing your response on Biblical renderings such as this one...

“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven,
nor the Son, but the Father only." Mat 24.36

When, in fact, some of the oldest manuscripts of Mat 24.36 do not contain the words 'nor the Son'...thus, Jesus can easily know the Hour, as stated in scripture...

What I have found over the years is that Christians know little more of their Bible than they do of a Muslims Koran.

Most have never even bothered to read their book of faith, cover to cover...

Oh my, you mean as stated in the Koran, doncha?

And you didn't answer my question. How many Muslims have you brought to Christ using your personal interpretation of the Koran?

No one said Jesus could not know the hour...

...neither does the Bible state that Jesus knows the hour.

I fail to see what this proves, Bowman.

Allow yourself to get to know some folks here, and I think you'll sing a different tune.

I've met several who know their Bible very well.

I am not one of these people who knows their Bible well--but I'm a quick learner, and can read footnotes with understanding.

Dan...

I'm attempting to stick to the Jesus' characterization topic, that you, yourself, started in this thread.

Deflection won't make this characteristic go away...

I'm not trying to make the characteristic you refer to
(I'm not sure what characteristic that is)
go away.

I'm asking you for clarification of one of your previous posts.

what is the characteristic of Jesus you want to talk about?

It proves that most do not know their scripture, or, are insecure in making a reply...see how long it took for anyone to muster the courage to even reply...?

Been here since 2012....is that long enough to know the pulse of the forum...?

you are correct that some of the oldest manuscripts don't have "nor the son".

maybe it was there in Matt's orginal autograph, maybe not... since it's questionable, I wouldn't build a doctrine around it... imo.

the question of "Does Jesus know the hour of His return?" I don't think the bible says... if I had to guess, I'd say "yes".

imo, since several parts of the issue are questionable, it's not an essential characteristic of the biblical Jesus.

I don't think the time it took anyone to reply was excessive... if a person has a job or family, checking a thread must take second place (or much lower).

there are certainly many details about the bible I don't know. ask me a question about Nahum, I probably can't answer.

a basic question about an essential characteristic of Jesus, though, I think many people on cc could answer that.

I had to repeat my simple question several times before finally answering it myself!

Re: Dan's ways...

Bowman: The sky is blue.

Dan: I think that it proves a young earth.

If the sky is blue, how does this affect those who believe:

The grass is green.

Sorry, y'all, if I added to any confusion. I see new news and jump on it. Please forgive.

('new news' being that the Quran/Koran, when properly translated, is similar to the Book of Mormon--claiming to be 'another testament of [to?] Jesus Christ.)
