I'm struggling w/ something. I deeply struggle w/ trusting God.

God has shared some things w/ me over the past 3 yrs about a certain someone yet, I feel like the answer he's currently telling me is to wait and not yet.

People tell me that God doesn't want us to be down/depressed or heart broken but wants us to be happy and fulfilled and I'm just having a hard time.

I feel like God has been testing me on and off w/ different things. He has given me peace often and has led me in different ways and spoken to me through other people and circumstances

On and off I get depressed about this situation I'm in. Today is one of those days where I feel really down and I often pray about the situation to, asking God questions. Asking for a clear answer so I'm not chasing the wrong thing even though I know God can't lie and wouldn't lie to me about something so important to me.

But, my mind keeps going in circles. I pray and I've given this situation to God and have asked him to do whatever he has to do in my life and this other person's life to make things work and I am Trying to trust him but w/ what's going on, I'm doubting and God doesn't like it when we doubt him yet, am struggling to see how or when this will all work out.

I don't know what to do. I feel nervous/worrying and I shouldn't bc that doesn't accomplish anything.

What should I do? How can I just really give this situation to God, let it go and stop worrying/thinking about it?

The hardest word for any Christian to hear from God "Wait". We don't want to hear "Not Yet". I'd say the only way to let whatever it is go,is to understand God sees the end result. If you run ahead you won't be in His perfect will. And things may not work out for the best. But if you feel God is saying wait, then Hes telling you that for a reason and He will work everthing out. We can put a delicious cake in the oven but if we take it out and eat it before its time its awful. As kids we'd be so impatient for dessert to which my mother would say "do you want it raw"? Nope. So if God is saying wait then do so and let Him work it out. It always works out better that way. Blessings.

As with any situation, getting closer to God is the answer. Spend time in His Word, even perhaps having to give up something that is a time waster anyway. The more you know His Word, you will understand Him, and can have more faith for the things you have to rely on Him for. Not always easy and doubts will always come in. But our total trust and reliance must be in Him, we can only do things in the strength He gives us. You can't draw on that if you are not in His Presence.

I completely understand what you're saying. And yes, to wait is very difficult. When I pray, I tell God I want to do it his way which usually is the easier way in the long run yet, to think minute to minute, or what goes on everyday, sometimes I feel like pushing ahead and being like, I just can't wait anymore and I want "this" to happen now yet, if I truthfully think about it, if this was to happen now, would it really work out, would I be ready? If I were to be honest w/ myself, I would say probably not even though I'd want it to work out.

Because inwardly, I don't know if I could take anymore pain. 2 weeks ago, I was extremely depressed about this situation and cried on and off nearly all day and I kept asking God why? The only "answer" I got that night was peace. So, to me, God was telling me, don't worry. I have this all under control. Stop crying. It will all work out in my time.

Its so hard to go with that and to trust that he will work it out.

He has never steered me wrong before, so why would he start now? especially w/ something like this? I know he wouldn't but, again w/ the circumstances, I highly struggle w/ this and its a battle every week,

proverbs 3:5-6 is a great start... there are other scriptures as well, but the first question you should ask yourself is this: do I really want what God has for me, or do it choose what I want and try to convince Him to give it to me. once you answer that, then you will know how to proceed.

Honestly.. heres no way in learning it. Thats the thing about trust. All you can do is try it and just walk forward and watch God do his work and grow stronger.

WOW!! WOW!! you are really brave. I am not being silly here you really are brave, and I know because I did that as well, and I am still reeling from what God is doing, and He hasn't stopped yet praise Him.

I pray and I've given this situation to God and have asked him to do whatever he has to do in my life

The one thing is, you can't give God permission to do that with anyone else, sorry, it is a choice your friend will have to make themselves, you can not do it for them.

As I write this I feel the Spirit leading a few questions "If you gave God permission to work in your life, why do you wait for an answer for your friend? Do you have faith in God's promises to you? If so walk in what is/has been provided"

In faith this is what I perceive. You do not have to explain anything to me, it is not my business but I do hope you can move on and I will pray for you to move forward.
God bless.

I really do know where you are coming from. I dated a person that was wrong for me in every way. He took off and it hurt really badly. I prayed for a year, every night, sick or well. I was exhausted from crying and asking why. Exactly a year later is when I met my now husband. I almost made a big mistake but God said wait. It was hard,I got off the path a couple times but in the end I surrendered. And Im glad I did.But if I had known what I know now I wouldn't have spent so many sleepless nights and all those tears. Yet we learn more and more that His ways are higher than our ways. Thats what I learn.Hold on,God is preparing the way. In the end you'll be glad you waited.

you know, ManiaStar, the only way i've found my trust in God grows is to be put in situations where i'm tempted to doubt Him. it has taken decades and i'm pretty sure i'm not there yet.

we trust in God, but not necessarily in what we feel He's said outside of His written Word.

I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD
In the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD;
Be strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the LORD. (Ps 27:13-14)

only God defines what His goodness is in any given situation.
as someone else has wisely said, seek His face and not His hand. :)

We begin to trust when we soak up the scripures that tell us how much he cares for us. And also trust comes easily when we know his character. Learn what is behind his names "The Provider, The Shepherd, The Healer, The Prince of Peace, etc."

And it is only when we totally surrender ourselves (which includes our plans, our rights and our entire lives) that we have that peace that we now belong only to him and he will give us what we need for our spiritual growth and his plans for our lives. Peace equals complete surrender.

These are the things that you can have perfect trust in: Give thanks for these things even before you see them. Giving thanks is your act of trust.

I WILL TRUST THAT I WILL ALWAYS…

Have what I need.
Have the path laid out before me.
Hear his voice.
Have his presence beside me.
Have the presence of someone he sends me.
Have the presence of ministering angels.
Have a gift of joy in some way each day.
Have his peace inside me.
Be able to overcome trials/temptations.
Have his strength/power in me.
Be under his control.
Be loved unconditionally and deeply.
Be given a sign of his presence.

Sassylady is right.

No matter what your problem is in life, God wants to use it to draw you closer to Him. Focus on growing your daily relationship with Him.

That is not the only step for every problem, but it is the first step in any problem.

That is essentially true... God wants us to have life "abundantly", but that is largely up to us. It is a result of our faith in Him, and our walk with Him.

[SUP]7 [/SUP]Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. [SUP]8 [/SUP]All who ever came before Me[SUP][a][/SUP] are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. [SUP]9 [/SUP]I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. [SUP]10 [/SUP]The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

God never said we wouldn't face hard times, in fact, as Christians, we are guaranteed to have hard times.

But the idea that we are to "fear not" is mentioned MANY times (20?) in the New Testament, and even more times in the Old Testament. The idea is that, because of our faith in God, we are to be content in whatever situation we find ourselves.

In regards to a relationship, I think it is a matter of learning how to wait for GOD'S choice in our life. I always found that when I tried to force a situation into being right, I was wrong. When I "gave up" on trying to find the right person, God brought them to me. (in a bar, of all places... but that's another story:))

Remember the old truism, "let go, and let God" ? Truisms are called truisms because, well.... they are TRUE.

God knows who the goats are.

Matthew 25:33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

Matthew 25:41 "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

mainastar:

I can so relate to this situation of yours. I have a specific situation that plagues me the same way!

I completely understanding the 'going circles'; the peace at times; others being God's vessel to speak to me. I was avoiding the 'wait'; 'not yet' answers I am/was getting, but since coming to terms of these options; I now get frustrated that the answer might me a 'no'.

When I have troubles giving things to Him, and letting go; 'prayer ties' are a process that helps me leave it with Him. If you would like me to explain this process to you, please in box me and I will share. Prayers for you!
