October 16, 1854 the Times newspaper reported the Queen’s visit to Great Grimsby from Hull recording they were able to see the 300 foot tall dock tower from 70 miles away. On a ball-Earth 25,000 miles in circumference, factoring their 10 foot elevation above the water and the tower’s 300 foot height, at 70 miles away the dock tower should have remained an entire 2,600 feet below the horizon.
So in other words, we should let him stay in errant belief while doing nothing whatsoever to try to reason with him? That feels a lot like leaving someone lost without so much as a single effort to point them to truth.for all the others who argued with spherical, stop wasting your time, he will not be convinced or swayed by arguments, that's not the way it works. I just would like to point out that what you are doing with spherical, arguing logically, pointing to evidence and being reasonable, is what non believers do when arguing with christians about religion. we have the same frustration of seeing people sucked into believing something no matter what, and we, outsiders, see the flaws in the reasoning, see how the whole thing doesn't clicks, we point to the problems, we try to make them obvious, only believers just keep on believing, no mater what, just like Sherical does about his flat earth bullshit. so all of you on this thread who believe maybe in creationism, in the bible being the true word of God, in the second coming of Jesus being imminent, i urge you to see Spherical as a mirror image of yourself, try to apply the same reason and logic that you use for his ridiculous concepts to your own beliefs... anybody who rejects evolution for example is doing the same thing spherical is doing.

You came here with your mind already made up. You mock our faith, say you're an agnostic, but then use an athiest's beliefs(ie: deny creation by God, affirms evolution, etc) as your defense. What a hypocrite.
I suppose I do now. I haven't been a Christian for very long at all, so I apologize if I go about anything the wrong way.well my point is that reason and logic and evidence won't work with him. he is taking anything you say to be either flat wrong(ahah sorry for the pun) or working his way. his problem is not that he hasn't seen the evidence or heard the arguments, the problem is the way he thinks. more evidence and arguments will not help him see he is wrong, what he needs is to reconsider why he believe and see the logical falacies and the bad reasoning he does to reach his conclusions. you need to attack his faith, not his evidence, if you want him to change his mind and see that the earth is not flat. that's why i find it ironic to see christians arguing with him, this is a mirror image of what happen when a scientist debate a creationist. do you see it?

Primarily apologetics. Two big contributing factors recently were reading J Warner Wallace's "Cold Case Christianity" and a debate I watched between Dan Barker and Kyle Butt.can i ask what did it for you, how you became a christian?

There wasn't one specific point or piece or argument that drew me in. It was the abundance of them I'd collected through researching my doubts.okay, i was more asking what point clicked for you, what argument you found convincing.
I don't really think belief can be measured on a point scale like that. Its much more black and white than gray. One believes or one doubts.
Isn't that the same question reworded, really?well let's say what level of probability do you attribute to God existing?
