How does this show what I said was incorrect? I know that planes travel at this speed. I mean this with all sincerity, I think you may have some kind of mental illness because your reasoning is very similar to someone experiencing a psychotic breakdown.
We already hovered over this issue.

If the Earth were truly constantly spinning Eastwards at over 1000mph, helicopters and hot-air balloons should be able to simply hover over the surface of the Earth and wait for their destinations to come to them!

Anyone can prove the sea-horizon perfectly straight and the entire Earth perfectly flat using nothing more than a level, tripods and a wooden plank. At any altitude above sea-level, simply fix a 6-12 foot long, smooth, leveled board edgewise upon tripods and observe the skyline from eye-level behind it. The distant horizon will always align perfectly parallel with the upper edge of the board. Furthermore, if you move in a half-circle from one end of the board to the other whilst observing the skyline over the upper edge, you will be able to trace a clear, flat 10-20 miles depending on your altitude. This would be impossible if the Earth were a globe 25,000 miles in circumference; the horizon would align over the center of the board but then gradually, noticeably decline towards the extremities. Just ten miles on each side would necessitate an easily visible curvature of 66.6 feet from each end to the center.
That is interesting just wondering is there a photo of a 20 mile long board resting on the ground not connected to the earth. Starting at the center of the board and moving father away from the center in either direct the weight is increased do to moving matter producing gravity the earth being that matter and thus pulling at matter and because the total weight of the board is distributed outwardly from the center do to gravity intervention with physical matter and gravity will affect the most resistance thus being mass of matter.

holding the board at its center is resisting gravity the earth would be this center point and another added way to double the affect would be if a person installs two objects weighing the same but made of different material let's say one of brick and the other of steel and if a person places a created gravity magnet over the steel object which of coarse would keep one end of the board from lowering do to working against gravity this would be a interesting project.

Speaking on a board comparison probably a lot longer board would be needed to compare to the earths mass. As for a true 1 to 1 ratio

To the other posters,

I am convinced that Spherical's motivation for arguing this position are not “rational”. By this I mean that he (she?) does not believe the earth is flat because it is logically or scientifically consistent, or that there is any true evidence for it.

It may be that the person really does know the earth is spherical (thus his nick name) but is isolated and is using this concept as an excuse to interact with others on something that is not personally threatening.

Another significant possibility is that the person is delusional and truly believes what he/she is claiming. In this case it is impossible to reason with such a person. It may be the result of a mental illness or demonic deception. In either case, the person cannot “reasoned with” until the true cause of the problem is dealt with.

Another possibility is that the person is simply (demonically?) contentious and has confused emotional reasons for making outrageous comments.

In all of these cases, I doubt there is any productive reason for trying to reason with him about whether the earth is flat or spherical. Either, he can't accept the truth of the matter, or he already knows it and has other motivations for pretending to take that position.

I get the impression that many of the responders are actually trying to help Spherical reason through his position. I suggest that we waste no more time at this.

Perhaps we can identify what he really needs, such as true human emotional interaction and address that need. But in all cases, I suggest we pray for him (her?) because trying to reason with him in his own confusion is truly pointless as shown by his responses in this thread.

If he is sincere, only God can reach into his delusion and heal him. If he is not sincere, only God can reach into his heart and meet the need that shows up in this symptom of pretending to argue the earth is flat.

Ernest Q, I am very surprised at your answer here.
You know nothing of Spherical and you show no credentials that you are any kind of an authority on the subject.
Yet you choose to berate him by saying he is delusional and demonically contentious?
Just who are you to judge him this way?
Should we be bowing down to you?
Please tell?

Invented the word gravity is the correct answer,
I really don't even think that he invented that word or was even the first to understand that concept. My understanding is that unless the body (earth or planet or moon) is rotating there is no gravitational pull.

Well that would be an incorrect understanding of gravity unfortunately. The force of gravity is obtained by the equation:

F=Gm[SUB]1[/SUB]m[SUB]2[/SUB]/r[SUP]2[/SUP]

Where,
G is a constant equal to 6.67 [FONT=MathJax_Main]×[/FONT]10[SUP]-11[/SUP] N-m[SUP]2[/SUP]/kg[SUP]2[/SUP],
m[SUB]1[/SUB] = mass of the body 1,
m[SUB]2[/SUB] = mass of body 2,
r = radius or distance between the two bodies.

So it is actually just a force that attracts two objects with mass together.

The only thing I understand about gravity is what goes up must come down. That works for me.

You are correct that gravity is a theory, not sure if you're using that word in a scientific context though. If you could show why science is flawed then maybe we could move forward? Until you do I will continue believing in the phenomenon of gravitational acceleration.

I only read that science says that gravity is a theory, not a fact.
I am not capable of debating it with anyone.

When he first arrived here on this site, it seemed clear he was troubled. His wife had left him and he was consumed with various conspiracy theories. He continually posted bizarre videos and made predictions of doom and gloom, suggesting others needed to prepare for WWIII. He even gave details as how the fighting would begin, which countries attacking other countries and with specific types of weapons. Then the deadline came and went with nothing happening. So he responded by saying WWII had already begun, while not addressing why he made so many specific predictions that fails to happen. Then a week passed and he made another prediction that was to happen in nine days. Of course it didn't and he was never going to say he was wrong.

It will never end. He has short circuited and is making highly irrational statements, convinced the end is upon us and we all must prepare. He does not seem to trust God to care for His children. Spherical puts his trust into unsaved lunatics who post crazy doomsday predictions they make in their kitchens or living rooms. To most of us it is quite humorous because it is so obviously untrue and easily proven false. He is likely already scouting out another online chat site where he has found a small handful of others who also gravitate towards conspiracy theories and doomsday predictions.

What the moderators of this site thought was a good place to dump kooks, so they would not continually disrupt news forums and others forums, turned out to be a magnet for outsiders who have been booted from other sites. It's possible kooks from the conspiracy forum here have welcomed him and given him a home and a platform to share his doomsday videos he obsesses on.

I dont mind the conspiracy forum, it's rather amusing, besides even conspiracy
theorists need God.

Gravitation is a known fact or a law of nature, as much as that this iPad I am typing on is a solid or that birds fly. Attempts to explain its dynamics, like general relativity, loop quantum gravity, string theory etc. are theories. Gravity is modeled using something called the theory of relativity. Newton's laws of gravity which is WRONG and have been wrong for quite some time, the reason they still around is because they are accurate enough to be used for most everyday things ( that don't involve satellites and the like).

I was tempted to start a new thread posing the question, are Flat Earthers Heads actually flat?

I think people are afraid of flat earthers.
They are afraid of the unknown.
Fear strikes them and they fight back anyway they know how.
A common way is to make fun of someone so as to discredit what they believe.

People want to kill the unknown.
Again, it is fear and people want to kill what they fear.
The best way to kill a flat earther is to laugh at them, try to discredit them, and get people to agree with what they are doing.
Nothing here can be called Christian activity.

''Nothing here can be called Christian Activity'' So why stay around? There are many on this thread who have given serious answers to the topic. You obviously have not seen Sphericals other offerings that are almost all clips from
unbalanced conspiracy theorists. They range from a prediction that 35000 troops were supposed to have invaded Israel last March to Human sacrifices being undertaken in the US of which the presenter offered to take people to watch. Do you really think we should take all this seriously? If this person is at all upset the sensible thing would be to stop posting these sort of threads.

I believe it is up to administrators to do something to people that are causing problems.
Are you an administrator?
If not, maybe you should contact one of them instead of openly putting down a person's character.
There are many ways to handle people who do things wrong.
We should look for what God would tell us to do.

I doubt this forum is here so that people can say "nothing here can be called Christian activity" so why stay around?
If that were true, then why are you here?
Are you in charge of non-Christian activity?
I say if nothing here can be called Christian activity, then it's time we Christians took it back and fill it with Christian activity.

If you don't know how to do that, then start a new thread and ask for help.
I bet you will get it.
