The end of the story is the demons are not subject to salvation in respect to the faith of God that works in us. Therefore they cannot believe to the salvation of a soul.

Just like the Israelites at Sinai that said " God, just tell us what to do and we will do it"...self-performance...then the Lord brought in the law..and everyone had to keep away from the mountain or be killed by the presence of God. He was relating to man-kind now through their chosen own self-performance.
Today the self-performance mindset is trusting in "their" DOING...and not in what Christ has done for us and believing in His work. This is the mantra:
" I will be accepted, righteous and good enough IF I keep the rules"
It's as if Jesus never came. They are in essence mixing the covenants and relying on the Old Covenant mindset. It is unbelief in the character and work of our Father in Christ for us.
New Covenant righteousness , as simple as it may sound , has zero to do with you and the choices you make and has everything to do with God and what He has accomplished in Christ. There are "fruits of righteousness " but they are not the root of righteousness ..Jesus is our righteousness. 1 Cor 1:30
The more we get the revelation of His righteousness given to us - the more the real "fruit of His righteousness " will be evident outwardly in our lives.
The true Christian life lived by grace through faith alone in what Christ has already done in His finished work is offensive to the religious mindset that is steeped in D.I.Y. righteousness/holiness.

What is meant by the below statement is that the D.I.Y self-righteousness/holiness mindset is relying on "them" keeping the rules and they interpret the "commands of the bible to suit" their works of righteousness. This is opposite to depending on what Christ has already done and living now from the law of the spirit of the life in Christ Jesus by their new man created in righteousness and holiness.

You are building on a faulty foundation. Water baptism cannot forgive sin. Repentance is a change of heart accomplished by believing not baptism.
Even Abraham believed and it was counted unto righteousness to him.
Ro 4:3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
Ga 3:6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
Jas 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

Yes we are to improve- that's why the bible says to keep to what we've attained thus far. We grow in Christ, we improve- but not for ourselves, for God. The bible says to study the scriptures daily to show thyself approved onto God. It is not self-righteousness, it is righteousness.
You can never attain to the standard that God has established. Only perfect righteousness is acceptable to God.
Hab 1:13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?
We are saved by grace and kept by grace because only grace is sufficient to the task.

The book says that it was baptism into forgiveness of sins. Believe what you want.
Doing righteous deeds by themselves does not make one righteous. This is having the cart before the horse.
I know there have been "good" people doing "righteous deeds " but they were not belonging to God. Many religions have moral living people in them - all doing "righteous deeds".
Here is how righteousness is manifested to a believer....we need to be righteousness conscious...not sin-conscious...we have a new creation in Christ now!
This "righteousness " that we already have now in our new creation ( the inner man ) is because we are in Christ - will manifest outwardly in doing righteous deeds - but we need the "horse" in front first.
The "horse" being Christ's righteousness in us because of our being in Christ in our inner man..our new creation in Christ.
Awake to who you are in Christ!..Awake to righteousness and sin not..when you see who you are in Him in your new man..you become like Him outwardly.

We are not perfect, but we can be made perfect- just the same as if we never sinned at all. Christ's blood washes our sins away, they are gone, He doesn't just sweep them under the rug where they can't be seen. This is the miracle and the grace of God. We can meet Gods expectation of being perfect as He is perfect.

God demands perfection. He can have no fellowship with imperfection. He can have no fellowship with "improved" or "better."
He demands perfection. We can only have it in Christ, because He was/is perfection....perfect righteousness.
We fail everyday in bad deeds,thoughts and the good we do not do. Every time we fail, even in the slightest way, we deserve and should lose salvation...........but we have the very righteousness of Christ, Christ in us.
