Just marking to show my progress and will be completely honest with the outcome. I've been about a pack a day, to about 3/4ths a pack a day and a 1/2 on menthol Newport cigs.I'm going cold turkey... This is day 1, I got through the day with very few strong urges after praying about it last night. I prayed more when I woke, and have just started to walk in it.

I got one strong urge and I just went for a walk, it was successful. This took that particular urge. Then I went out got a new 5 gallon jug of water for the water machine. I've been drinking that a little more then I usually do. I'm cutting back on the coffee because I know there's probably something with the coffee, rather how it metabolize with nicotine or is a trigger to it or what. I just rather try to make this easy as possible on myself for the first few weeks.

I bought some Wintermint 5 "ascent" ( which I haven't opened yet ) waiting on super strong urges for that. I also bought some jolly ranchers, life savers, 25 cent pack of big red gum, all for under what I buy a pack of cigs for. These have been working good.

Ended the day with a walk/jog .. That felt good, have been coughing stuff up a little bit.

I must say day 1 was not that bad, thank you Jesus, your the best per usual!! I love you!!
Ok, until update God bless..

Way to go, man! You're doing it!

Have you considered a blog? Maybe posting your story and documenting your progress in one would appeal to a larger audience; all of that traffic could really be inspiring to others.

In any case, keep it up!

Thank you, appreciate the encouragement! No, I'm not really good with blogs and so fourth, if you think it could help someone, you have permission to do so from me. I don't know how much I plan to check in on this.. I'm just doing like I always do and walking by faith and being pretty random without any major plan just trusting Him to get me through it, I know He's got me... So I walk, little after midnight here on this Friday night. I'm proud of myself, and I'm grateful to God for giving me strength. Urges and anxiousness are present but nothing I can't handle, Gid bless

It's all good. Keep on keeping on, and thanks for that.

I read some data that said - for every day that you don't smoke, it is one day added to your life in the world...

the chems in cigs these days is astronomical, including 'formaldahyde'....they are literally, as Brainfreeze
has stated, 'DEATH-STICKS'....

this alone should make one question their 'priorities', especially if married or have a family that must
watch as this 'death' consumes the ones they LOVE, one cig at a time!!!

we who have 'over-come' this 'satanic-death-trap' can only pray for our brothers and sisters that our
Heavenly Father's Love and promises will be the strength and safety-net to provide the will-power and courage
they must cling to and use, in order to rise above this horrible bondage...

Yes sir, completely agree 100% ... Here's day 2, I usually have one around this time with coffee, haven't had either, and no strong urges for the cigs, ( praise Jesus ) my throat actually doesn't feel to great, and it's making me think of what I've been doing to myself.

These " death sticks " come off as not a " big " problem, after quitting them, you can start to feel the effects they have, serious bad stuff. You mentioned one, formaldehyde, there's tons of wicked stuff in these things. Yes, and my little one has been taking lighters and hiding them :) I gave him the cigs now to (just a box no cigs lol) now he's hiding that.

I told him dad's done ..

you are in our prayers, Brainfreeze,

if you honour and use the courage that our Father has provided, then your triumph is inevitable!!!

Thank you for the prayers! Though I didn't sleep to well last night. I believe this 100% and He hasn't failed me yet. Getting close to half way through the day, I have smelled a few as people lit up around me as I walked. I can't believe how strong God is making me to it. I didn't get not one urge as I've witnessed others smoke on and off all day around the city. It's not really bothering me, God is awesome I tell ya!

7:00 pm- picked up a few but's that were lingering around the backyard, it didn't even cross my mind to light one, or that I need one. I do feel edgy and I can feel little responses in my head saying " get 1 " it last not even a split second. Just a quick thought that has to be rejected, binded, and rebuked.. Going through a few life savers, but everything isn't to bad. I can't complain. Moving on..

Smoke free since 1 PM EDT. The pain is coming.

Now I've caught a pretty bad flu, which has really took my mind off of cigarettes. Nothing you can plan there, ha. Taking it easy, but still just for update purposes, not one cigarette. Thank you Jesus, all things are possible.

I wouldn't put it past our Lord to create a scenario to distract you from said bondage in order
to set you FREE...

I've been drinking a few glasses of orange juice, and eating pineapple slices. My throat hurts now from the flu. Need some zinc. I did get a little urge for a cigarette. I just rebuked that thought, and reminded myself of the control He's given me. Oh my, Jesus is amazing.. Just keep your eyes on the Sparrow, He gives us dominion over this wicked stuff!

When I quit about 15 years ago I used the patches. They were a big help you will be saving a lot of money being at Newport are the most expensive cigarettes on the market

I'm doing fine ... Today just conjested, taking immune health stuff, just fading this flu. I can't say I had any urges today, this morning anyway..none, and I'm doing this cold turkey ( with Jesus ), no nicotine gum or patches. Though I wouldn't blame someone for using them and yes expensive .. I hear it's worse up north, but $7 a pack is something I did cringe about, haha.

15 years, yea my dad quit about that long ago, he did use patches .. Good to hear a success story.
