I was at the grocery store today and I had just finished putting my groceries in the trunk. I walked the cart over to the cart holder, which was about 100ft away. I turned to head back and saw a man leaning on the driver side of my car, which would put his back towards me. Now, I had left the driver's door open because there is a button near the steering wheel that pops the trunk. I had also put my windows down a little ways because it was a warm day. This man was evidently waiting for someone to come out of the store and he decided to wait by leaning on my car and smoke. He was smoking next to my car, with my windows down and my door open! For those of you who smoke, please don't take offense to this, for I mean none. However, with my COPD, all I could think of was how my lungs are going to hurt to even smell that smoke in my car. I felt myself starting to get disgusted with this man. Then the Holy Spirit quickly spoke to me and said, “I created this person too. I love this person too.” I thought, “You're right Lord. I'm sorry for allowing the old man (my old ways) to start rearing it's ugly head. Please forgive me. Help me to show this man Your love through kindness and please don't allow that smoke to effect my lungs. In Jesus' name.”

So, I walked around the front of the car so he wouldn't be in my way. I walked around the door of my car to get in. He saw me, stepped back, and said, “Oh, I'm sorry ma'am.” I looked at him, smiled, and said, “Hey, that's alright. You have a marvelous day and God bless you.” Just then the wind gently blew in the direction that it needed to in order to move the smoke away from me and my car. Isn't God great!?

I do not share this to make myself look good, but to show that it is possible to put off the old self. This is just one small example, but God is able to help us through ALL situations (no matter how big or small) to show His love, His light, His kindness to all. Do you have a story of a time when you started to allow the old man to come back, but came through victoriously with your new man?

We need to remember to be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above ourselves (Rom 12:10); Put into practice the two greatest commandments, love God and love others, by this all men will know that we are His disciples. (Matt 22:37-40 & John 13:34-35)

I find everyday I have to continually put off the old man with the people I work with lol..some days not as well as others :/
 
Every morning I wake up....it takes til sometime after noon that the new man begins getting the upper hand:p
 
From past experience< I should not tell y'all this, but if you take four advils and drink two cups of coffee then mix in some chocolate, you can study all night. however you will forget what you studied by 9:00 am the next day and then sleep for 12 hours. It 's amazing what you can learn at college.

He's faithful to complete the good work he started in us.

There are issues i still struggle with that i can see, to be honest, and issues i don't see.

Any way it goes the Father is in control. He knows better than we do :D which is comforting.

Coffee is one of those things... lol

I do praise him that he's brought me so far, even though a lot of time i feel like i'm running from an angry mob xD

Since the laws that are good have been engraved on our hearts, we know how to react in all situations. Written in stone is too heavy to carry around...imagine that.

It is wonderful being a new person in the sight of God, and always knowing which man to be!

I have a list of "new-man-living" I could share, but I will only share one minor one.

My little bungalow is on a passage just wide enough to walk through to the bungalows. There is a woman who lives in front of me who regularly comes and shakes her rugs out in front of my house. My reaction has been to pray for her, while people down the way are occupied with yelling at her when she dos this. I clean all around the pathway, and I repaired a drain, actually I replaced it at my own expense that had been plugged for years flooding the foundations of at leas six bungalows. Now all runs fine, and the bungalows are no longer in danger of having their foundations erode. I could not do more for any past damage. This area is community or common , but no one else was available, because they would not come here to do this work. Because of this the bungalow owners have come back and spruced up their own places building new fences and more. My own bungalow required a lot of fixing up because apparently there had been "clan" of very bad people living here. Praise God for making all livable again for the neighbors, and some have actually thanked me for moving in..... Actually, I had not thought much of this until this OP..............thank you my sister.

and his church does for many in his neighborhood who need a showing of Christ's Love.....

I'm the opposite. I wake up each day and am refreshed, walking hand in Hand with the Lord. Then I can be drawn away as incidents occur which distract me.

Lunch time … get my head back into the Word and my heart back in line.

We are warned so many times in Scripture to guard our hearts and stay our minds.

Some days it takes a lot of effort. Other days not so much. The world and the things in it are designed to distract us and draw us away from the Lord. We need to recognize the snare that is set to trap us so that we are not drawn away.

James 1:

19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
