When the bible was translated, the word for "day" in Hebrew could also mean any amount of time. So, for example, instead of God creating everything in a week, "day one" lasted millions of years as did all of them. This allows for evolution because if you notice, God creates fish first and maybe he created humans through evolution. We can apply the same concept to other parts of the bible that say "day" but could mean "any amount of time".
