We are sinners, so it is normal for us to sin. It is unnatural for us to do righteous works, and in fact we are incapable of doing any good work. Our good works always seek something for ourselves, they are not done in truth.

Once we enter into fellowship with Jesus Christ we become one with his righteousness which is in truth. We no longer desire to do our works, but His good works. It requires total submittion to the will of God, something we all are struggling with, because our will still wants to be dominant.

Just a thought.

Amen. I love this.. How can anything we do be counted as righteousness... If it's as filthy rags? If we are truly in him then his righteousness becomes ours, Enabling us to be and do what we are called to... Nothing else preached lines up with the Gospel.. In my heart it's the only way I can find peace by believing this.. If in anyway I'm in error I trust that because of his love for me he will show me the truth..

I can no longer (at least for a while) listen to the teachers I used to because all these different ways of preaching the Gospel have caused me so so much confusion.. Jesus doesn't confuse. Neither does he make it so difficult for us to follow him or see the truth of who he is...

Simple. I LOVE YOU THIS MUCH. Image: the cross

How do we fall from grace? We need the truth of Christ and His finished work to get grace to function in our lives and experience what Christ has already done for us...Here is a short 16 min. video for those that like to watch them....it'll bless you and you will fall deeper in love with the Lord Jesus.

More anti-commandments anti-law doctrine from a lawless carnal preacher who is still walking in the flesh.

Psalm 19:7
The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

Isaiah 8:16
Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.

Isaiah 8:20
To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Those who speak evil of Gods law and commandments is not of God's Spirit. What we are seeing in these last days is the fulfilling of the prophecy of the falling away from the obedience of the faith in what Jesus said for us to do. The man of lawlessness is being revealed in them who hold back the Truth in unrighteousness. Don't fall for this false doctrine!!!!

Still walking in the flesh even in itself sounds very much like to walk in the spirit is something we make ourselves do? Isn't walking in the spirit something that only happens once we receive the spirit?? To say he is not walking in the spirit I am in itself sounds like self righteousness Wether we agree with a person or not...

He may look like a lamb to many, but he is speaking as a Dragon.

May I throw my two cents worth in on the last two posts?

I agree that we inherit credit for HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, because we have none of our own, if we are trying to count them as credit towards Salvation. When we do that, all of our righteous works are a PILE OF FILTHY RAGS.

Many Christians confuse SALVATION and SANCTIFICATION, thinking they are part of the same thing, when they are not.

SALVATION - is by GRACE ALONE. It is an act of GOD given to us for free, when we DO NOT DESERVE ANY OF IT, and it happens in a moment of time when the Holy Spirit enters our hearts. Yes it comes through faith, but even that is NOT of ourselves. (Eph. 2:8-9) If we Have Faith, it was given to us by the HOLY SPIRIT. The instant we have the Holy Spirit enter our heart, because he found fertile soil there, HE pours GOD's Love into our hearts. (Rom.5:5) It is God's Love in our hearts that will sprout in that fertile soil, producing sanctifying works in our Christian Walk, starting with loving GOD. Those Sanctifying works, will mold us and change us to become more and more like Christ, which is the lifelong process of - SANCTIFICATION.

All of that is because of the WORK the Holy Spirit is doing in our hearts, so we can stop patting ourselves on the back, and fall humbly on our faces thanking HIM for what the Holy Spirit is doing in our hearts.

Now maybe you can understand why the following verse should be so very special to the Born Again Christian.

John 14:15 (NRSV)
[SUP]15 [/SUP] "If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

I agree.....we start in the grace that is in Jesus and we finish with the same grace.

Galatians 3:3 (NASB)
[SUP]3 [/SUP] Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?

Colossians 2:6 (NASB)
[SUP]6 [/SUP]
Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,

There is no dilemma, we are saved by grace through our faith and we are justified by our faith in the work of the cross, which gives the Holy Spirit the legal right to work in us and through us. If we just go to church and here what the dude say's then we have men in the women bathroom and Christians labeled as haters. If we speak God's word we are condemned. It is time to either bow or be thrown in the fire. God is separating the wheat from the chaff.

We walk by the flesh or by the spirit based on our choice to obey either the longings of the flesh or the word (spirit), respectively.

How do we walk in Him?

How do we walk in Him?
First you have to know who He is. Second, the only way you can walk in Him is to be born again of the Holy Spirit and have Him dwelling in you, and you also in Him.

When He is dwelling in you, only then can you walk in the Way, the Truth, and the Life of God's words, which is walking in righteousness and obedience to Jesus words, sayings, and commandments. This is not "self righteousness" as some try to falsely accuse, but it is Christ our righteousness working through us to do God's will. Faith includes us being faithful and also obedient to His words, by this you will know if a person truly loves God, and also that the Love of God truly dwells in them.

Good job and good post, I wish we all understood what you just said, we walk according to the Spirit as he guides us, most churches disregard the Holy Spirit and I'm sure you will to when it come to the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

How do we walk in Him?
What does 'walk' mean?
I know what physical walking is.
Some ppl can't do that. There's many reasons.
So 'walking' must mean something else.

Is it our thought-life?
Actions throughout the day.

I notice some ppl here have circle of friends that they invite for exclusive get-togethers, and deliberately leave others out, like for watching movies or gossip time. Is that walking?

What about those that ignore others, treat them like they don't even exist, rather than making attempts to get to know them or discuss something with them, or heaven forbid...actually try for reconciliation with them...are they walking?

What about just sitting by yourself, maybe doing a puzzle or reading, eating sleeping going to the bathroom,

Are we bouncing in and out of walking when we do these activities?

What does walking really mean, and does it have to be a 100% all the time?

Are we in danger of losing salvation if Jesus returns and we're not walking properly at that given moment?

How do we know if we're walking enough so we don't have to worry?

These are some dilemmas I'm thinking of as I read and walk along.
I'm being sincere with these questions.
Thanks and God bless our 'walk'.

How do we walk in Him?

Walk means a sphere or dimension of being in Christ.

We walk by in Him by grace through faith as we learn the truth about what He ahs already done for us. We see Christ as in a mirror ( 2 Cor. 3:17-18 ) and we see ourselves reflected back - the Holy Spirit transforms us and we have our minds renewed to the things of the Lord.

Hello VCO,

Amen! I was going to write pretty much what you did, but you already wrote it. Sanctification is a life-long process i.e. the on-going process of being transformed into the image of Christ. Before we came to Christ we only had one nature, the sinful nature. But after we receive Christ we then have two natures which are contrary to one another.

"For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever"

Through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, as we go from faith to faith, we are being transformed into the image of Christ and little by little the old nature is being displaced by the new man in Christ. And even though we are going through this process of sanctification, God has already credited those having faith with righteousness, because of our faith in Christ. When the Lord appears and the dead rise and the living are changed into those immortal and glorified bodies, then we will be completely free of the sinful nature that dwells in this mortal body that was sown in dishonor and will be raise a glorified body.

Hello B1. These are interesting questions. I am curious about how having friends is seen as not being Christian. I mean, if I invite people over to my place to watch a movie (please understand this is completely hypothetical) there is only so much room in my living room to be able to reasonably or comfortably seat so many people, so it would be impossible for me to invite everyone. This is an issue for me because for most of my life I was incredibly co-dependent, trying to please too many people, people who often did not have my best interests at heart at all. So while I might want to invite everyone because hurting people's feelings is not something I would want to do, it is inevitable that someone or many people are always going to be left out. Is one not to have any close friends at all in order to spare the feelings of those without? Believe it or not, these are issues which I have thought about independently of your posting these questions, but your questions did provide a good platform for "bouncing them off of" so to speak. Thank you for your time.

Hello magenta...
I was not referring to ppl having close friends that they physically see and invite to their house or go bowling with. ;)

I was referring to 'christians' in a public forum cyberspace and how they often exclusivise and ostracize others in a form of treating others as if they're not good-enough or welcome in their private club.

I see a big difference between physical contact/fellowship, and on-line public communication amongst ppl who claim to be one in Christ...

But that is not the point of my previous post,
(if ppl ... 'christians' ... want to treat others like that, that's their business, and it's probly not the kind of folks we'd want as friends, anyway, right?),

but my 'dilemma' point was what constitutes walk...

I was only laying out examples,
not calling anyone into a specific thing...
just laying out examples of how ppl interact or treat each other,
and the things we do on a daily basis,
eating sleeping bathroom,
and what, of those kinds of examples of things,
would constitute walking in the spirit or the flesh
and should we have a fear of being left out
if we're not 'walking' the right way at any given moment.

Also, well, I'll leave my next question for another time, but for now, does my explanation of my 'dilemma' question make sense? I hope?

The idea of ppl having friends sounds like a great thing, I would encourage it, and wish it was more of a reality in my own life, moreso than just some aquaintances, but that wasn't what I was referring to at all.

It was just a secondary example with regards to cyber-socializing amongst brothers/sisters in Christ, and how does this modern-day phenomenon fit in with the biblical idea of 'walking in the flesh/spirit.

Falling from Grace, Surely means what it says.. Falling from the knowledge of Grace.. Over these past few days I have been so confused about all the different doctrines I have heard.. I can't receive anything other than Jesus is everything.. Jesus has done everything.. He has enabled me to do all things.. Not because of my effort but because of his grace.. Anything that says we have to "do" only makes us opinionated and proud.. Self preservation is the foundation of all works.. I have tried it and it's ugly.

As I write this my heart is so tender and my eyes are streaming because I'm so relieved to know that I no longer need to do anything.. He has done it all..

"It is finished" he cried..

This by no means I can do whatever I want.. I think the preaching of this is heresy.. What it does mean is that if I know his love and allow him to love me I'll not want to do things that grieve his heart.

There's a huge difference.. Without knowing the love and the grace of God even the new testament brings condemnation to a striving heart. Everything is by his grace.. Everything. Only when we know and understand this will we die to self... Dying to ourselves in not an action on our part it is grace that melts away our self centeredness. . PRAISE OUR RISEN KING

Well said...we can read the NT and OT scriptures through the lens of a Old Covenant mindset or a New Covenant mindset.
