I do not believe that to be biblical " you don't need anything not even the Holy Spirit". The gospel of John 14 and 16 Jesus speaking says we do. And we Need the Holy Spirit.

where does it say that - in fact it says exactly the opposite at Jn.14:17 - the Apostles and early Christians needed the Holy Spirit because they did not have the Bible as we do - wincam

Be careful what you attribute to satan. Many attribute tongues to satan and it's not a good thing to do. Tongues come from the Holy Spirit and to attribute the Holt Spirit to satan, wow, I wouldn't want to do that.

We need the Holy Spirit today, God doesn't change, if they needed Him then we sure need him now, in fact you truly cannot understand the bible without the Holy Spirit. He who has eyes to see and and ears to hear, let them see and hear.

Nothing has ceased, the only thing that has ceased is faith and belief. People are still being healed and are still being filled with The Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, Miracles are still happening, the dead being raised is still happening and not by means of the devil but by the power of the Holy Ghost and by the means of the cross.

Tongues = not speaking but hearing in foreign languages was a genuine gift but gibberish is rubbish and the Holy Spirit must not be credited with speaking rubbish or confusion = this is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit - wincam

and still drinking poison and taking up snakes and not being harmed - where - wincam

if you like we can go through the chapter of 14 in John I only ask you does verse 1 apply to us or only the apostles?

I'm not trying to pick on you Robby (hard to believe I know haha)

but I agree that the Holy Spirit has not gone off and hibernated, but is it faith and belief ? or, is it trust in the man up front in the pulpit who may present a very negative picture to the gifts? I know I certainly had that presented to me and it was only my own pursuit of God that led me in another direction

possibly both of course

so now we are going to hold the Holy Spirit responsible for widespread misinterpretations and contradictions and divergence and division - this is blasphemy - wincam

oh now come on

I for one, don't believe that you do such things in order to prove the word true

that, would be tempting God and Jesus told us we are not to do that...that is what the devil did to Jesus in the wilderness (and I am not at all calling you such a thing lest I be misunderstood)

I have heard/read that arguement many times....let's not assume people do these things and for one moment think it proves anything at all, because I have literally seen a 'witch' hold his hand over a flame for a long time with no ill effect

so, we do not tempt God, but God, does truly give protection to those who are His

Never trust a dude or dudette trust in the word of God, Pastors are a good thing, only if they line up with the word. Especially these days a christian needs to know His/Her bible and look to see if what is being preached lines up with Gods word. The problem is people want to be told what the bible says instead of reading and studying for them self.

I would say it is completely the word of God who none of us can understand without the Holy Spirits' help. I think the suggestion is the bible is all we need and not the Spirit of God? The Bible tell us that no one come to God unless the (S) Spirit draws him. Faith is a gift too. Belief or believing is the action of faith . they are intertwined

dude or dudette...yet, scripture states that God Himself does indeed give both dudes and dudettes (LOL!)

we know the gifts include teachers...but of course, we are supposed to be Bereans

You know, God does not object to questions at all...defensive people may object to a closer scrutiny, but God welcomes genuine questionning

The blaspheme comes from attributing the things of the Holy Spirit to satan. Not sure attributing things of satan to the Holy Spirit applies but maybe it should

exactly - I have seen fire walking and even suspended animation - wincam

I agree

The Bible states that the 'letter' kills, but the Spirit gives life...the Holy Spirit makes the Word come alive

ok...and not just cause you are a mod...but I firmly firmly go by 'no one comes to God unless the Spirit draws him' yup

yes...faith in action is belief

good!

please get it right - nothing to do with John 1 - wincam
thank you for correcting me wincam let me try again :) if you like we can go over John 14 and 16 the chapter s

the question I asked you is in john 14:1 is this verse only to the Apostles or to all believers .
