The catholic church sure did back in Luther's day when he said "The Just shall live by faith" They wanted to kill him for saying that. Religion always rears it's ugly head in hate and malicious slander as can easily be seen in today's religious world as well and most definitely in some case here in CC.
Arent you all just making your own, new traditions with this hyper-grace? I mean get rid of the ones you don't like and make some you do like
I have a fervent desire that one day the Spirit may get us past these continual arguments about basic things so that every discussion does not have to come back to what we all know already. I have a fervent desire to speak with my brothers and sisters about our common struggles as we work out our salvation with fear and trembling.
Some of you will know what I mean with this next. Please go easy on the babies when they yank on the dogs ears and run around after learning to walk, full of the pride of life, yelling, No! me! Mine! You were once there. He did not fail to grow you. Please go easy on the babies. All expect them to soil themselves. Don't demand that they don't. He will see to it. Ignore their lack of manners as best you can to focus on whatever they say that IS lovely and good. It won't kill anyone to ignore the arrogance of babies. Sometimes they really do smell so good and sweet. Focus on THAT smell.

We should be letting the scriptures say what they say...despite any traditions..don't you think?
Grace has always been around and it has always been hyper too.
Pretty soon the song "Amazing Grace" will be called a song of the heretics.
Here are the words of this song - sung for 100's of years by Christians all over the world. I am pretty sure that John Newton ( 1725-1807 ) was talking about Jesus only when he wrote "Grace" in his song.
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now I'm found,
Was blind, but now I see.
'twas Grace that taught,
my heart to fear.
And grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear,
the hour I first believed.

Yes, I love the contemporary version of that song by Chris Tomlin. Grace is very important but not the only thing.
I agree....Knowing the love of our Lord for us is to me the most important thing to know. It's His grace that provides what His great love demonstrated for us.
1 Peter 1:13

That does not mean it is a new gospel. Many people under alot of names have the same gospel.. They just may do other things different..

You do realize, most of what we would call traditional churches, look nothing like the NT church, do you not? there was probably a time when they were shunned as heretical.. just because people changed the way they do things does not mean they teach a different gospel.
Sometimes we think some truths are new but in reality they are not. Here is someone back in the 1800's that had a "heretical" understanding of grace in the form of our sins being forgiven.
I was reading this morning about a hymn writer from the 1800's called Frances Ridley Havergal. She wrote many hymns and knew Latin, French, German, Greek and Hebrew. She also knew by heart the 4 gospels, epistles and the book of Revelation by the time she was 23 years old - yet she still lived in total defeat. She thought she had "great wickedness in her heart" - because of religious traditions taught to her.
It wasn't until she was reading in the Greek that the present tense was used for 1 John 1:7 ...His blood cleanseth us from all sin".
She realized all her sins were forgiven by the blood of Jesus and thus she believed it and experienced peace and joy in her life because of this truth.
Here is a direct quote:
" Have we not been limiting 1 John 1:7 , by practically making it refer only to "remission of sins that are past" instead of taking the grand simplicity of "cleanseth from all sin"?
"All" is all; and as we may trust Him to cleanse us from the stain of past sins so we may trust Him to cleanse us from all present defilement; yes, all!
By refusing to take 1 John 1:7 in it's fullness, we will lose the fullness of it's application and power in our lives. It goes on cleansing , and I have no words to tell how my heart rejoices in it."
She got the revelation that all her sins were forgiven because she was in Christ and in the Light. She was able to walk free in Christ from that point on. Today she would be called a "hyper-grace" heretic by some.
Believing the true gospel will change us as we grow in His grace.

As long as you do not change the doctrine,, Nothing to worry about.
The fact I do not feel the need to wear a suit, And go through a traditional church service, with their theatrical presentation of things,,
does not meen I have distorted Gods truth.
Grace has always been in the church.
You cannot know Jesus and the cross and not appreciate grace, the gift of love to sinners.
Back in the past hyper-grace never existed because the health wealth gospel would never get off the ground, because most the believers would be dead or ill. It is modern technology and medicine that has made this theology real.
But to admit that would be to admit man has caused the biggest changes rather than God directly.
You cannot know Jesus and the cross and not appreciate grace, the gift of love to sinners.

Those are a contradictions of terms peter.. but i think we are revealing where you hate is coming from .
Forsaking the assembly is not distorting God's Word? This is what I mean by making your own traditions. Its a hassle to go to church so you aren't going to do it contrary to Gods Word. This is a different Gospel

And who said anything about this? I would agree with you, God does not have lone rangers, He wants us to be in church, Bot no one mentioned that so I am not sure what your trying to say.
Did you not say you don't feel the need to sit through a traditional church service? Do you attend any service? You should have clarified that

No my friend, It means they changed the service to a non traditional one.. It is what they changed, Not the doctrine.. That was my point.

I attend a body of christ gathering a few times a week, and once on Sunday.. this plus cell groups. and some discipleship meetings, then we have corporate prayer meetings as often as we can.
I would say I go to more "church" functions (using that term lightly) then most traditional who just go to wed night and maybe a few sunday services do. .
Not to brag, just to make a point.
Anti-nomian heresies have always been around. Hyper grace is just the latest manifestation.
