I've heard some say, "The Bible is merely a book written by people and is no different from any other book." I've come across something, in my studies today, that may enlighten some. :D

The Bible is the most remarkable book ever written. The writing was done by about 40 authors from several countries and many occupations. They wrote over a period of approximately 1,500 years and in 3 languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek). Yet the Bible has one great theme and central figure: Jesus Christ. All of this would be impossible unless the Bible had one supreme Author, and it does, the Holy Spirit of God.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Tim 3:16-17
 
An interesting word that begins those two verses should shock the daylights out of anyone who seriously believes them...... yet want to go with the selected books they call the Bible (whichever version they call the true one) is the word, ALL.

I won't bother to say any more, because that should be enough to leave all of us with our jaws hanging down, since that word was written hundreds of years before men made their decision what, exactly, would be called "Scripture" today, as we read our "Bibles."

What other book has hundreds of fulfilled prophecies with no mistakes?
(written hundreds of years before the fulfilled events)

I've come to the conclusion that if creation shows enough of God's existence that no one has an excuse not to believe than one must assume those who want to debate with you are just trying to start an argument. I stick with discussion among believers about understanding correctly because the truth is that unbelievers have Moses and the prophets and if they don't believe them they won't believe even if someone comes back from the dead

Apparently Isaiah missed it with this prophesy,


The paper reeds by the brooks, by the mouth of the brooks, and every thing sown by the brooks, shall wither, be driven away, and be no more.

That 5 billion since around 1815 to present it's a Guinness world record of books being sold.

what does your above statement have to do with prophesy, secondly there is no real proof Egyptians invented paper and Isaiah 19:7 says paper does wither and paper lost, destroyed over time before 4,000bce or just hasn't been excavated yet lol..

Hello LOLOKGAL,

For those who would believe that the Bible is merely a book written by men, I'd have to say that they did pretty good at guessing at the over 300 prophesies in the OT regarding the Messiah that were all written prior to Him being born of a virgin and appearing in the flesh. Then we have the writers of the NT accounts of the fulfillment of those OT prophesies.
 
I believe the Bible is the most beautiful book in the world and at the same time - the most dangerous book in the world.

The Pharisees in John 5 used the scriptures to bring death and condemnation but Jesus used them to testify of Him. It appears that we can replace Jesus with the Bible as He said in John 5:39-40

I love how we can read one scripture 100's of times - then that one time when the Holy Spirit reveals an aspect of it - you marvel and say "Why didn't I see that before"?

When all of Isaiah 19 is read, it's clearly seen that this is a prophesy that has not happened yet. Although, some say that it is being fulfilled during our present time. However, that's a topic for another time, another thread. :) What I would like to point out is... No matter what the original scriptures were written on, God still had His way in making sure that His word is past down from generation to generation. "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." Matt 24:35; Mark 13:31; Luke 21:33

YES! We see through history how the Roman Catholic church wouldn't allow the Bible to be printed. They claimed that no one was qualified as they to understand the Bible. They used it to turn the heads of kings. Then those rebellious protestants decided to act out and many were killed, tortured, and other horrendous acts, just because they wanted God's word in everyone's hands.

 Oh, I LOVE it when this happens. It puts me in a state of "AWE". I just LOVE how God speaks to us through His word. His Word is a love letter to us. His love is so big that it took 66 books to bring it to our awareness. His love is so powerful that He became flesh to demonstrate it with us. His Love is so strong that He sacrificed Himself to share it with us. WOW!

As I read your post, I was reminded of two verses...

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

"Is not My word like fire?" declares the LORD, "and like a hammer which shatters a rock? Jeremiah 23:29
