--posthuman : "Jesus is not saying children are righteous, innocent or not corrupted."
I didnt said anything about Jesus.Wy do you assume things i didn't said?

um, yes you did. i quoted you directly.
here; i'll do it again:

Jesus said small children in the eyes of God are innocent, righteous and not corrupted .

that's OK your brain doesn't seem to recall you saying what you said and is written here for all of us to see.

i am sure that all mankind has mental issues. here's some more evidence of that, is all.

here's a thread i made about that recently, actually -
you-all-have-mental-issues.html
((shamelessly promotes own thread))

"For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse"

I don't concur with that fact that it is
clearly seen .If that were the case we would not see so many religions and
gods ,billions of people refusing to see the obvious. The evidence points to the contrary.
God being this perfect, all powerful being who knows the future and exists in every point of space and time would know that revelation through nature is not very efficient and would have chosen a better way.Why no reveal himself to everyone like he did with Paul ?

But what about the rest of the issues i bring into question ? Not a single word?
Actually, Paul very adequately explains why the world is overflowing with false religion - it is all there in the verses already covered.

As for the other issues I will not go back to them until this issue has been settled.
You obviously believe God is unjust; the other issues right now are just diversions.

i agree that we can't really go further with anyone who thinks they are in a position to judge God, unless that perspective is rectified.

to think this way is to have a completely wrong understanding of who God is and who man is and the relationship between them. so how can we talk of anything regarding God with someone who has a completely blind & corrupt comprehension of the very idea of "God" ?
that's like teaching calculus to someone who is still perplexed by multiplication or division. this is fundamental.

There have been some very good answers to some of your questions on this thread: I am not attempting to answer all the questions: just adding some deeper perspective:

In the beginning God created man with the purpose of having fellowship with him. In order to have fellowship, this meant that man had free choice - you can't "fellowship" with a robot. But then Satan came and deceived Adam and Eve and they disobeyed God and that fellowship was lost.

But God was not just distant and silent. He put a magnificent plan in place to draw man back to Himself. The final part of that plan was sending His only Son as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind!

When Jesus ascended back to heaven, he told his disciples, "All power is given unto you in heaven and earth, go ye therefore and teach all nations . . ." Today we the disciples of Jesus are still involved in this gigantic task of reaching the world with the power and good news of Jesus Christ.

Life today for the Christian means he is part of a cosmic warfare: to extend the kingdom of God into all the Earth. Ever wonder why all the things go on down here that do? It is part of this epic struggle. The Christian is at the forefront as a warrior for the King of King and Lord of Lords. We are out to rescue and save all we can from the confines and control of the enemy: Satan.

Hello, and welcome to Christian Chat!
You've bitten off some big questions (that's okay). Allow me to offer some basic responses...

"Science" doesn't tell us anything; that is a fallacy of reification. Scientists, using their observations and assumptions as a basis, may tell us things.

The Big Bang is a hypothesis, not fact. Scientists can only observe the present, not the past. At best they can make assumptions about the past, and, using those assumptions, make hypotheses about the way things were and how they happened. Observational science does not contradict the Bible. Scientists find many consistencies between the biblical record and the observed universe.

This is a red herring based on a misunderstanding. God did not "punish" Adam and Eve. He declared what the consequences of their sin would be. There is a profound difference. As to them being bound to make mistakes, that is an anachronism: because of their sin, we are born with a sin nature, the proclivity to sin, to disobey God and go our own way. Adam and Eve did not have this nature at first. The "banishing" was actually an expression of God's love: He prevented them from eating of the Tree of Life in their fallen state.

God's justice is perfect, and His ways are above our understanding sometimes. There are a few theories about why God brought about the flood. One is that He wanted an uncorrupted bloodline for His Son, and that the bloodlines of most humans were messed up. Without a proper understanding of God's holiness, we tend to think that massive destruction is "unloving" and such a god is unworthy of worship.
Without an understanding of flood geology, we might draw the conclusions you apparently have regarding getting all the animals together. Nowhere does it say it only took a few days. If God created all the animals, He is also able to draw them together, such that they would be in the right place at the right time, regardless of how long it took.
Regarding rainbows, the Bible does not say that it rained before the flood, nor does it say that there were no rainbows. Go with what the Bible actually says, rather than what it implies, when trying to sort out these things. Assumptions often lead to incorrect conclusions.

I'll leave the questions about Hell to another responder. I will say this though; while consequences to sin may vary, the punishment is one thing: death. Trying to impose upon God a human understanding of punishment and consequences is like asking a small boy what he thinks his punishment should be for doing something forbidden... he's going to take the easy road. When you start with God's holiness, and His love (in His terms, not ours), you start to see that the whole idea of justice makes sense.

The Bible says that God has bound all mankind over to sin (that's in Romans) so that He could display His love and mercy to us in His Son Jesus Christ. By believing Who Jesus is, and what He has done for us, we are excused from that judgment because our sin is paid for in full. God's justice was poured out on Jesus at the cross. Those who don't accept Jesus' sacrifice on their behalf must take it on themselves.
Science? I have two words for you: global warming.

:8) even the word science is written in the holy scripture
:read:
1 Timoteo: 6. 20. O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

Daniel: 1. 4. Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.

I have a question and it's one I haven't formed an opinion on yet. Another poster equated the Adam and Eve being cast out to a child putting his hand in a flame. Since they had been told and knew it was wrong doesn't that mean they choose to disobey God (sin)? If that is the case then sin was already in the world before they ever tasted the fruit. If sin was already in the world and in fact in eden itself, then Adam and Eve did not cause it to enter the world as many like to say. It seems even the Word says by the 1st Adam sin entered the world. Well, I guess I have some studying to do. To the person who started this thread, I know both God and His Word are true because I have a very close personal relationship with Him. (in fact He dwells within me). Jesus loves you and died for you! In reference to the big bang, well it's called a theory for a reason but even that is biblical, God said "Let there be light" and BANG there was light!

that's nice to hear, actually - i assumed we were going to hear about purgatory. which so far as i know is entirely extra-biblical.

'preachadoro mio' -- well, i have many of those lol. but the 'main pastor' of the congregation i attend, he's never touched on the subject. which is an hard question.
or maybe not so hard.
all people are consigned to sin - and i believe the scripture is clear about this, and that we are not "innocent" from birth and then learn a sin nature later by nurture. it's more than just the residual guilt of Adam's sin, but an entire nature of evil.
but salvation is wholly and entirely by mercy. even the sacrificial system of Moses is about mercy - God accepting a duly performed action He had assigned, and having mercy on the people, looking over their sin. for us now, in His boundless grace, He has actually removed sin - not just looking over it, but completely taking it away.
so if it is all by mercy - i see no theological problem in believing that He looks over the nature of sin that every infant is born into the flesh with. all these sins have been paid for in full, with one sacrifice.

are you told that 'only the ones baptized' go to heaven? or all? just wondering. seems like a sticky point.

but all this is speculation -- we do not know at all. and if God judges that some should be spared and some should be the objects of His wrath, God is just and i cannot, dare not speak a word against Him.
but i imagine ((and it is imagination, not knowledge)) that what you said is the case.

how nice to agree :)
All. Valiant said Adams sin causes SIDS or any other reason babies die. Good luck with that one

--posthuman ....sorry about that my bad ....i was very tired this morning...been working all night...

--tony jay ...explain to me better what Paul meant to say in those verses...maybe i don't understand as good as you.
If i can't question God of the bible at all because i am a just a mere mortal then that can't comprehend God's wisdom, justice,
mery, love then i can't talk either about the bible being the world of God.So what is point of any debate or talk on this matter .
Also why would God want to have a relationaship with me if i can't possible ever understand him? It's like me trying to have
a relationship with my hamster.

--Agricola :"Science, what is science? Scientists are often wrong and interpret things incorrectly.
Another fact is that the all scientific fields are trying to explain how we all got here and what
makes the universe work without the need for God and rejecting supernatural."

We can just ignore science.
Let’s assume that the bible corect and the science not.God could have created the universe in any
fashion he would have wanted, being all powerful. But then man discovers and demonstrates through
scientific process (which has proven reliable in the past and present because it has given us all
the amazing inventions and things we use in our every day life like phones, televisions, cars,
planes, satellites, medicine, internet, etc) how the world around him works using the gifts God
bestowed upon him like intelligence, curiosity, logic, imagination and a desire to question everything
and then looks in the bible and sees a total different thing. Why would an all loving God in his
infinite wisdom want to confuse his most beloved creature and in the same time want for that creature
to find him and believe in his existence. That’s absurd.

God detached us from the spiritual realm and closed our minds and understanding to this spiritual world after Adam messed up. There are demons and angels around us that we can not see for example. We can find God through the Holy Spirit. We do not need a scientist to say "I have proof".

With respect to the story of creation this is not a dual between science and the Bible.
The scientific theories dealing with the origins of our universe are just that - theories.
(Interestingly enough the physicist/mathematician who has done a huge amount of work on the Big Bang Theory is Prof David Block of the University of Cape Town who happens to be a committed evangelical christian and is known to hold regular seminars at UCT to try and convince sceptics of the validity of the Bible.)
However, the point that I want to make is that the Bible is not primarily a scientific document and so a direct comparison with modern scientific theory is just disingenuous.
The take home message is that God created the universe and everything in it.
Also, if you know your physics, you will be aware of how time is defined and also the conditions in which time, as we understand it, can be foreshortened or lengthened.
Moreover, if we understand God correctly, he exists outside time and is not bound by time and this also raises interesting questions of how to interpret the creation account in Genesis.
In summary, science and the Bible are not in direct competition as regards the creation story in Genesis.
You are comparing an apple with an orange and getting a banana instead!

With the story of the fall it must be said that God's justice is perfect, as is his mercy and grace. All these things are abundantly evident here.
Firstly, as has already been pointed out in a couple of posts in this thread, death is the natural consequence of sin not a punishment for sin.
If you warn your young son not to put his hand into a flame because the result will be an exceedingly painful burn and he disregards the warning ands gets a painful burn as a consequence, does that equate to you punishing your son?
Of course not!

With regards to the rest of the story of the fall:
The entrance of sin into the world changed everything.
The situation, as it pertained before the fall, could not continue.
Sin introduced death into the world, not just for humankind, but for everything that was biological.
All the consequences outlined in Genesis were just that - consequences - not punishment.

God, in fact, shows great mercy and grace in His approach.
He does not kill Adam and his wife - far from it.
Instead He clothes Adam and his wife with skins from animals.
This is the very first example of blood sacrifice to cover sin and is the index event in what we refer to as the scarlet thread of redemption that culminates in the death of Christ Jesus on the cross as a once-for-all blood sacrifice for our sins.
There is a lot more to this account that could be delved into but I will leave it at this for now.

The account of Noah and the flood is difficult to interpret but you will need to investigate who the Nephilim and the Sons of God were. Most interpreters believe that they were demonic beings who took on human form and function. Genesis records them breeding with the daughters of men. The result was an exceeding sinful demonic half-breed.
This may sound far-fetched but do your research here.
The only solution left to God was to destroy these half-man half-demon beings.

The time span of the account of Noah is never directly mentioned. We know how old Noah was when he died but not how long it took to build and prepare the ark. It certainly was not a few days.

Your observations about rainbows and the rain are not hard to explain.
Up until the appearance of the first rainbow there had never been direct sunlight on the earth.
Instead it was continually overcast.
There was plenty enough light for plants and animals to survive - think of a cloudy day where you live.
The climate was very mild because the cloud cover would prevent any extremes of temperature.
After the flood, for the very first time, the full overcast began clearing and direct sunlight was observed for the first time. This made viewing rainbows possible.

Lets look at your concept of hell:
In order to understand hell one needs to understand heaven.
What are the essential differences.
Heaven is where God is and hell is where God is not.

Why do people go to hell?
Hell is for people who are not in fellowship with God.
What distinguishes those who go to heaven?
These are people who are in fellowship with God.

Why are some in fellowship with God and others not?
It is all about the consequences of sin.
Sin separates man from God - this is death; spiritual death for the soul, and physical death for the body.
Now no individual who ever reaches the age of accountability (in other words the ability to distinguish right from wrong) is sinless.
So, as a consequence how does anybody get to heaven?
Well, of those who never reach the age of accountability, like babies, and die physically, they do not die spiritually - there is a place in heaven for them.
As for the rest of us there has only ever been a single way: humble acknowledgement of sin and unconditional repentance along with blood sacrifice.
In this day and age Jesus Christ is our blood sacrifice, a once-for-all blood sacrifice, so what we need to do confess our sins to God and repent unconditionally.
The Bible tells us that this is the ultimate expression of grace - even the faith that is needed to believe that Christ's sacrifice is enough to cover all one's sins is a gift of God.

As an answer to your editorialising about the justice of God at the end of your post I can do no other than direct you to the Book of Romans.
Every question you pose Paul addresses.
I cannot top what Paul wrote!

I disagree on some points but love the information given. particularly giants and the sons of God

I would like to know more about your assumption on cloud cover before the flood of Noah. can you direct me to where you got this information. I have also heard there were no clouds since there was no rain. I have also heard a theory of being inside a bubble but this has caused a greenhouse affect and not been able to scientifically plausible. I love creation science and am a big fan of the www.answeresingenesis.org web page. please share your sources

I am a man who was born in preistoric times and believe that sun, moon are gods because he sees that
they gives me light and warmth.I pray to my god, whorship him, make sacrifices.I live a moral life and a
good life:love and respect my neighbour,my wife, children and my gods ,i do not commit murder, theft,
adultery.I maybe say some lies, covet anothers man wife or belongings, get jelous, angry, hatefull because
i am not perfect ,but overall I live a moral life. Then later God says in the bible that is forbidden
to whorship other gods.So our man even thow has lead a good life gets as a reward an eternety ot
torture and torment in hell just because he failed to figure it out that the sun, moon are not the real,
the only, true god.How can he repent for his sins if he doesn't know that is required, but even if he
would repent,it will be to wrong god.So he is doomed from the start. How is that perfect justice or
morally corect?

If what is said in Romans 1:19-23 (see Post #38 by Tonyjay) is true, then all peoples at a deep level know the truth about there being one almighty powerful God. but though they have known this truth, they go out and worship the sun, moon, and other gods anyway.

So if Romans 1:19-23 is true, then your example given above is invalid because it could not happen. Or, yes, it could happen as you tell it, but the person who would live this way would know that he is not following what at a deeper level he knows is truth.

So, is Romans 1:19-23 true?

You say in a later post: " I don't concur with that fact that it is clearly seen .If that were the case we would not see so many religions and gods ,billions of people refusing to see the obvious. The evidence points to the contrary.
God being this perfect, all powerful being who knows the future and exists in every point of space and time would know that revelation through nature is not very efficient and would have chosen a better way."

I disagree with your idea that many religions, and gods, and billions of people refusing to see the obvious . . . I think that all these people do see the obvious, but as Romans says, they go their own way anyway and refuse to acknowledge God. I have walked and talked to tribal people in Papua New Guinea. For generations they had lived and died and worshiped birds and other living things. After being told the story of the Bible And Jesus, they almost all became Christians. The words from their own mouths was that they knew very well that previously they were guilty before God. They knew the truth about an eternal God (from Creation around them), but they still went their own way and enjoyed sin (though as you suggest many of them may still have lived "moral" lives. Obviously you don't have to believe my perspective, but my point is that I don't either believe your perspective that many billions of people don't see the obvious - I think they do - but refuse to acknowledge it.

So later you give this example:
"Our egyptians ows money to person A(God of The bible) and gives money to person B(Ra).
His debt to A ,yes still exists but he doesn't know that he has a debt to person A(God of the bible)
because doesn't know that the person A exists at all.So how can this man repay his debt?
So is this man going to hell or not"

Good thinking and example, but if this "Egyptian" indeed knows that he has a debt to person A and knows that he exists, then he is guilty. And I believe Romans 1 states this is so, and I believe examining the actual evidence of the world's people will also prove it true.

I will admit that "examining the evidence of the world's people" is difficult - and made more difficult when we have a point we want to prove. But at the very least I will argue that the evidence will not prove that "people refuse to see the obvious". I think they do see the obvious, but refuse to acknowledge and still live the way they wan to.

"Why no reveal himself to everyone like he did with Paul ?" I see I still have this left to answer as a part of your question: This is a very good question - I will need to ponder if further. . .

19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.
Romans 1:19

No Alex, there is no wriggling out of this, Paul clearly demonstrates that would what may be known of God is not just external: because what may be know of God is manifest in them.
In other words every human being all through history has had enough knowledge of God within them to make the right choices.

Furthermore, Paul goes on to explain: because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
They knew God but they refused to acknowledge Him as such.

And then they went further: Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
So, in other words, they made God into their own image and then went further in reducing Him into the caricature of animals.
Currently, most Westerners are not worshipping idols in the form of animals but they are worshipping themselves. Many reject the Biblical version of God that is presented in favour of their own man-made ideas about God.

As Paul explains most emphatically:
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
Alex, you are trying to imply that your mythical man misinterpreted who God was and ended up acknowledging and worshipping the wrong god, and therefore should not be condemned on this basis.
Paul makes it very clear that the mistake was not an "honest mistake".

Excellent post!!!

Someone has a warped perspective of so-called prehistoric times! Every known ancient pagan culture at some point practiced human sacrifice and/or cannibalism. So your morally upright pagan is a piece of fiction cooked up by secular humanists. Besides all of humanity knew the one true God before the tower of Babel dispersion, most just chose to ignore Him and do their own thing.

I had believe 10 years that the Bible is true . Now i am not so sure . Here are some of the problems that i found:

The story of Creation - in the Bible it says God created the universe and life in just 6 days in this order first
the Earth, then the Sun,Moon, the stars and finally life but science tells us a different thing
first was the Big Bang, then the stars ,then the earth and moon, then life, all of this took billions
of years. The question is how can both science and bible be correct?

The story of Adam and Eve -Adam and Eve were like small children : innocent , naive and with no knowledge of right and
wrong.God punished them for breaking his only rule by banishing them from a life of bliss, abundance,
immortality and no pain in Eden to a life of struggle, pain and mortality. They were bound to make
mistakes and not listen to their father because they haven’t experienced yet the consequences of
doing that. Also we must not forget that God didn’t explain what death is. If they had known that
for their transgression the punishment would be so severe they probably wouldn't have eaten the
forbidden fruit. So the question is how an all loving, just God in his infinite wisdom and mercy
could punish his beloved children so drastically at their first mistake?Isn't God's justice perfect?

The story of Noah- Men have became more corrupt and violent except Noah and his family who were righteous. God gets angry
and decides to destroy the world through a flood.Tells Noah to build an ark and bring 2 of every land
animal in the ark in 7 days .We know that the circumference of the Earth is about 40,000 km and for
example the distance from the Middle East and Australia is ~ 11,000 km .So the question is how he
managed to covered hundreds of thousands of km and gather all the animals from every corner of the
earth in just few days?
- God spared Noah and his family for being righteous, yet he killed at least one small child in the flood.
Jesus said small children in the eyes of God are innocent, righteous and not corrupted .So wouldn't an
all loving God in his infinite wisdom and mercy would have spared also all the children may they have
been in the thousands, hundreds or just one? Isn't God's justice perfect?
- God created the rainbow after the flood implying that there never was a rainbow before the flood. This
contradicts the scientific definition of what rainbows are because if you have light, refraction of
light and rain you have rainbows. This leads to the only conclusion that there are only three possible
scenarios that create an environment where rainbow would not form:
1.There is no sunlight. But terrestrial life is dependent on sunlight, in this scenario all life
would have died.
2.There was no rain but the Bible tells us of rain before the supposed creation of the rainbow.
3.Light did not refract but if light did not refract, sight would be impossible. It is light
refracting in the lens of the eye that allows sight by focusing the light onto the retina.
The question is how can both science and bible be correct?

The concept of Hell- Hell is a place where men go if they disobey Gods rules and not repent before their death, a place
of eternal torment and torture. How could an all loving God in his infinite wisdom, mercy could
torture billions of people forever for a finite numbers of sins committed in their finite life.
Wouldn't God's perfect justice demand a punishment proportional to the number and gravity of sins?
- Throughout the human history of hundreds of thousands of years man had believed in thousands of
different Gods, from gods of wind, trees and animals, to polytheistic gods of the vikings: Odin,
Loki,Thor or of the romans and greeks: Jupiter,Mars,Venus/Zeus,Ares,Aphrodite or of the egyptians:
Ra,Osiris,Horus or of the hindi:Shiva,Vishnu,Brahma to monotheistic gods like Allah,Ahura Mazda,
Buddha,Zalmoxis. Some of these gods are still worshiped today and they will be in the future. This
leads to a rather unsettling conclusion that all the people that never heard of the bible but
failed to figure it out that the right god is Yahweh or just failed to figure it out that there
is a god at all or be born in a different religion and consequently believed, worshiped and prayed
to their god or gods, are doomed to an eternity of torture in hell. This apply also to both to those
who heard of Yahweh but chose to remain faithful to their religion or belief and also to atheists
and agnostic who can’t believe because of insufficient evidence. Wouldn't an all powerful, all
loving God in his infinite wisdom would have thought of a better kind of revelation of himself then
that of the bible , like for example reveal himself and his wishes clearly, personally to every
human like he did with Noah or Moses or Paul, and by doing which give everyone a equal chance at
salvation and redemption? Why choose to remain hidden, idle while seeing all the billions of people
going on with their lives believing in,worshiping, praying and sacrificing them and others to false
god or gods and in the same time punish them for not obeying his rules when they haven’t even heard
them?
