Do men read less?

Half of my family members read (me being the biggest reader). The other half kinda hates it lol. It's a mix of boys and girls so I guess it just depends on the individual.

I hate romance novels too. I tried the whole Nicholas Sparks thing but I just couldn't take it. It's boring and pointless. :p
 
If we're talking about books, then I don't read at all lol. It just doesn't interest me & I can't sit still long enough to do it. From what I know or people I know, which is all I can really draw an answer from, I would say that girls do read a little more.
 
I think more men will start reading books when more women start fixing their own cars... :rolleyes:

Actually I'd love to know how to fix my own car, I just haven't put the time and effort into learning yet. Partially because I don't know anyone that I thought would have both the knowledge and willingness to teach me.
 
In general, and from my own experiences, I would say - Yes, men generally read far less than women. If they read it's only either because they're required to or because they want to (duh). But if they read, it's more likely to be non-fiction than fiction. I'm not sure why that's the case. Reading has been seen as rather useless to much of masculindom in modern times. Not to mention, many men were once boys who really struggled with reading (they either couldn't sit still long enough to concentrate, or they just struggled with it full-stop). I'm mildly dyslexic, but I'm an avid reader. And that's been the case ever since I discovered Tintin, Narnia and The Hardy Boys books at the tender age of 7. Unfortunately, in the last few years, I've gravitated towards non-fiction. I rarely read fiction these days, which is sad, because I love Story. I must rectify that.

I guess I'm just a nerd. My first thought was, "Why is she disassembling an automobile on a showroom floor?" The lighting, specifically the lighting against the wall in the background, made me think it was a showroom.

My second thought was, "Why is she wearing those ridiculously awkward shoes while she's tinkering with a car?"

Check out Scotty Kilmer's channel on youtube. He's a long-time mechanic and tells you how to DIY everything from changing oil to diagnosing your AC (and when its time to call a mechanic)...and he's quite entertaining and funny too!! :D

I agree, I'd rather read shampoo bottles then a romance novel.
 
My Husband likes to dead. Mostly science fiction. He doesn't read as much as he used to, but he also works a lot.
 
Starting as a kid i loved to read. I read at levels advanced for my age. Over the past few years i've practically stopped reading. Admittedly due to technology. But also because the cost of buying books vs not having an income.

I completely agree that romance novels, including Christian ones, are a waste of time. Unrealistic and they just set us up with expectations that aren't going to be met in that way. They are too sappy and make me feel inadequate because nothing like that has ever happened to me or probably every will.

good point me niether I haven't had one like that white picket fence rosey flowers out front, are there peaches and cream relationships out there, not saying there aren't any probably so, but I like a some spicey meat balls with spaghetti hahaha...
