We have free will. Sure Jesus work is finished but we have to renew and follow Him. Clearly denotes work.. Are we saved because of it? No but you get access to the Kingdom of heaven... Bible clearly says those who practice certain behavior won't get in..
He's holy, you cannot be in His presence and still have a lackadaisical attitude about how holy you should be. Be holy is a command. Never says it's for Jesus to to for you... All the opportunity is there but if you don't apply you don't get in...
He's the King and the Lord and most Holy.. amazes me how some just think they'll be accepted in the condition they are in... NT is full of instruction, not in vain either.. sleep on it if you must..
If Moses had to remove his sandals, I'll keep believing I have to remove something too.

And, yes, scripture does witness clearly that salvation apart from obedience is non-existent.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 7:21
Amen, God's grace reigns through faith, God's grace reigns through righteousness, and God's grace is given for the obedience of the faith, and if one is truly under God's grace then sin shall not have dominion over their lives, meaning they will not be servants of sin.

So all those things are "evidence" of those who are truly saved by God's grace through faith. A unfaithful, unrighteous, and disobedient walk of faith contrary to the will of God is no faith at all is it? :)

Is your condition better than anyone else when compared to His righteousness? Do you plan to enter heaven by your own righteousness or His?

Do you want to base your eternity on your logic about Moses and his sandals?

The God is love mentality is dangerous when not balanced with the King, Lord and judge side of who He is... Work out your own soul salvation with fear and trembling... Free ride.. I think not
People make Him to be less of who He is... Then it allows them to stay the same..
Just like the Hebrews and the golden calf.. They lessened His glory.. That was the problem, not the calf. They never denied it was God who brought them out, they just reduced Him to what was best in their eyes..

Can you define 'grace' as it applies to God in scripture? What does it mean to you? Are you saved by it?

Great question which deserves a biblical answer. Our "holiness" is also by Him. In fact, we are "complete in Him" means exactly what it says. He is everything we need for our salvation. People just refuse to recognize clear scripture.

1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV)

[SUP]30 [/SUP]But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

Hebrews 10:10 (KJV)

[SUP]10 [/SUP]By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Colossians 2:10 (KJV)

[SUP]10 [/SUP]And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

There are really only two levels of holiness described in scripture: holy and most holy. GOD dwells in the latter.
Your being foolish if you think any of us are capable of being "most holy", unless we are made that way by Him.

That's exciting news! Because God by His Holy Spirit dwells in us now! We are most holy in our new creation in Christ. - created in righteousness and holiness just like Paul said in Ephesians 4.

Lordship salvation - everything in one's life is in submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I personally don't know anyone has ever done this. There are always things we do our way.

The sandals both Moses and Joshua had to remove represent the defilement of the world, which, of course, we are to remove as well.

Therefore, [since] we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, putting aside every burden and the sin that so easily ensnares us, let us run with patient endurance the race that has been set before us, Hebrews 12:1

Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep oneself unstained by the world. James 1:27

Yes, it's great news. We are most holy through the indwelling holy spirit unless we defile our vessel through sinful behavior. Then cleansing is required.

and ours needs to be imputed as it always falls short of the needed holiness to enter into His Presence.

Ahhhh...so we have to "maintain" righteousness?...so when sin happens we lose righteousness?...scriptures say it is Christ's righteousness that is in us now because of what "He" has done.

How does Christ lose His righteousness if He is one spirit with us now? Does Christ become "unholy"? Does He "dis-connect" from being one with us until we get righteousness back ?

Thank God for 1 John 1:7! Listen to one woman's story about "believing" God's word". Her story will bless you!

Sometimes we think some truths are new but in reality they are not. Here is someone back in the 1800's that had a "heretical" understanding of grace in the form of our sins being forgiven.

I was reading this morning about a hymn writer from the 1800's called Frances Ridley Havergal. She wrote many hymns and knew Latin, French, German, Greek and Hebrew. She also knew by heart the 4 gospels, epistles and the book of Revelation by the time she was 23 years old - yet she still lived in total defeat. She thought she had "great wickedness in her heart" - because of religious traditions taught to her.

It wasn't until she was reading in the Greek that the present tense was used for 1 John 1:7 ...His blood cleanseth us from all sin".

She realized all her sins were forgiven by the blood of Jesus and thus she believed it and experienced peace and joy in her life because of this truth.

Here is a direct quote:

" Have we not been limiting 1 John 1:7 , by practically making it refer only to "remission of sins that are past" instead of taking the grand simplicity of "cleanseth from all sin"?

"All" is all; and as we may trust Him to cleanse us from the stain of past sins so we may trust Him to cleanse us from all present defilement; yes, all!

By refusing to take 1 John 1:7 in it's fullness, we will lose the fullness of it's application and power in our lives. It goes on cleansing , and I have no words to tell how my heart rejoices in it."

She got the revelation that all her sins were forgiven because she was in Christ and in the Light. She was able to walk free in Christ from that point on. Today she would be called a "hyper-grace" heretic by some.

Believing the true gospel will change us as we grow in His grace.

"Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption." The Holy Spirit seals us for the redemption even through the times when we cause grief through carnal living.

Maintaining righteousness in the catholic sense where one has to do sacraments and other works to maintain justification, no.

However, anyone who thinks that they don't have to keep their vessel holy is just kidding themselves.

We know that whosoever is born of God does not do sin; but he that is begotten of God keeps himself, and that wicked one doesn't touch him. 1 John 5:18

I firmly believe in living a holy life by the power of God inside of us by grace through faith in Christ's completed work.

Jesus is the One who keeps us. You keep wanting to keep yourself righteous as if it is up to you. Maybe this is why some people say you have a works-based mindset which is not the gospel.

Jesus is the One who saves us and keeps us.

1 John 5:18 (NASB)
[SUP]18 [/SUP] We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

So, let's pursue this further...in your theory - does Christ become dis-connected to us when a sin happens?....does the Holy Spirit leave us in our spirit which is created in righteousness and holiness?
