The False Teaching of Delegated Authority

Revelation 2:15-16 You have them that hold to the 'delegated authority' doctrine, Nicolaitan, of which I hate.
Repent or I will come against them with the sword of My mouth.

It is not cool to try and create your own version of the Scriptures. It's best to only use God's actual words......... That still leaves you free to impose your own esoteric interpretation without getting shut down immediately.

This is the kind of thing one might expect a man desiring to be the exclusive power head of a congregation to do.

again yet please stop adding to the word of God. The scriptures are holy and sacred like a precious rare jewel and is not a toy so I would be careful as to how you use it and how you add to it.

Proverbs 30:6 Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.

Deuteronomy 12:32
"Whatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; you shall not add to nor take away from it.

Revelation 2:12-17
[SUP]12 [/SUP]“And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write:
The One who has the sharp two-edged sword says this:
[SUP]13 [/SUP]‘I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is; and you hold fast My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days of Antipas, My witness, My faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. [SUP]14 [/SUP]But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality. [SUP]15 [/SUP]So you also have some who in the same way hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans. [SUP]16 [/SUP]Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth. [SUP]17 [/SUP]He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.’

NASB Version.

If "Nicolatians" means "to conquer the people" , Could this also mean they were playing the numbers game ? Like the massive apostate religious churches ? Maybe this was a washed out sinful lawless movement that got the masses of people like all false religion we got today.

Yep, another one they love to use is "touch not God's anointed..." you'd be amazed how much license they get by misusing that verse. Shuts down all critical thinking, like a spell.

I agree some churches has some issues today though the thread is referring to just one of the seven churches of past history the one mentioned in this thread was within the city of (Pergamum) of Asia Minor known today as modern day Turkey. Not all the letters were negative some positive, how these letters pertain to modern day churches are in full swing among people though many are just theory's or accusations and not of true revelations continued. So caution should be taken before assuming which ones are falsely teaching and practicing a false doctrine. Now of these seven churches in scripture which ones Are or Are not continued on today in modern times is the question. Being mindful that false accusations have its place as well within scripture. So that being said one needs to be wise and know the difference before believing it's the truth thus one could very well fall into the same pit as the churches teaching or practicing false doctrines. Of the churches mentioned in scripture which ones are still around today. In anybody's opinion please place beside each of the seven churches of old to the equivalent of churches of today would be appreciated.?

This one I can completely relate to, that is one that has repeated itself to my face since I first come to Christ, you do not question someone who has told you that they are anointed (and have made you their underling in their own mind). Such as if you dont believe them by their own word (concerning themselves) because you question them concerning something you are cast out of their presence.

Question God all you like in their presence (His words, or what God might mean) but dont question them (in their interpetation by their pristine use of the word) in their self professed anointed teacher status because to not agree with them (even in the smallest of matters) makes you anti "anointed" (or as anti christ, but really meaning "anti them") the place they desire to occupy.

Theres alot of those, the first anointed of God who kicked me out of his church for telling an unemployed single mom she should not worry about giving anything to him.

I differed with that anointed in that time and was cast out, they love the preeminence it seems. For others to look to them, to be above, but when the rubber meets the road they could care less about you as the flock of God.

Well, I have issues with some of them, if its not money its ego, most of them have a huge one.

All of the ministers I have known have thought of themselves as servants of their congregations, not authorities over them. To live your whole life in bitterness over perceived or even real slights by others is a waste of a life. Get over it.

You definately should not be bitter towards God or others and let such as these ruin anything for you, but just reccognize that there are those types and its good to expose what it is they do. To point out that their so called "anointed" status has more to do with themselves (in their own mind) to be over you (in that preeminence) rather than honour Jesus Christ. If it were Jesus Christ, they would be a servant, and see you as brother or sister (as an equal in the household of God sense of things) rather than as overlord, to lord over you after the manner Jesus does not prescribe.

James 1:27
Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

After all these years I had even failed to notice that looking after a single woman with a child who had no provider at the time (and standing with her in this) could also be understood as looking after the fatherless in some respect.

Although that wasnt what I was seeing so much at the time, that just dawned on me by ukok102nak's post and I felt encouraged thanks.
