This is were it takes time to listen. They have a term called sin consciousness. Basically we must not be conscious of sin just of Christ. So being convicted by the Holy Spirit of sin is not His ministry. Some appear to now have conceeded this is wrong. One member felt being convicted by your conscience was also wrong, satan.

Another member called their church experience de-brainwashing themselves of religious understanding. I think they meant the kind of connections you just made, agreeing with the law, setting your objectives to walk righteously etc.

Now I know how subtle this can become and easily missed. Muslims do this with words like truth, morality, honesty.

The only way you really get into their heads is just take the words they say, and project its exact meaning without the normal scriptural context. It becomes a different faith, with mystical experiences and love does not play a key role anymore, rather the mystical utterences of the apostles and prophets in their services.

We had a long debate on the value of the Lords prayer. Not high on their agenda, part of the old covenant and legalism.
Very illuminating.
 
I do confront sin. But I do not confront sin in the way that you might think.

I tell people how destructive, stupid, and completely foreign it is to them in Christ.

I tell them how good God's ways are compared to theirs and we talk about what they currently believe sin is giving them and we pray about how they can receive it from God instead.

Just last night I talked to a girl who was dealing with extreme suicidal thoughts and depression. She is seeing a therapist, she struggles to stay in church, and over the phone we got to the root of some forgiveness issues, self acceptance, and do you know how I was able to get there? By speaking to who she really is in Christ and showing her how these other things needed to be "cast out". And then we started forgiving people who hurt her in the past, and then we started asking God how He saw her, 2 hrs later, she felt lighter, freer, loved, and supported. And questioned why she ever "lost her fire" for God in the first place.

That's the gospel to me. What is it to you?

Eph 6:11 11So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. 13Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. 14For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.

But you appear to be condemning people for having standards and saying they are hypocrites. Has it never occured to you that you are actually doing the same thing, but stopping people from saying walking with the Lord changes people and compromise matters. You cannot follow Jesus without recognising righteousness matters. Once you say sin is ok, just what everyone does, you have just become religious. But no you are not religious because you have been born again but with no evidence. Opps.

We are called to encourage each other to be pure, blameless, above reproach. But I think this went out the window for some, and low and behold it does not matter. Sounds 100% what sinners go all the time to justify their own sin and compromise. Jesus is powerful, but being addicted to drugs or alcohol is just a minor issue, that does not need dealing with.

I won't speak for the others but as far as works go from a believer in Christ - Here is what I believe.

Abraham tried to fulfill the word of God in his own self-effort and created an Ishmael. God does not recognize anything we do in the flesh - in our own self-effort even if it is good intentions.

God told Abraham " Take your son, your only son...." This son was the one that God produced with His power after all attempts in the flesh were finished and there was nothing left for Abraham and Sarah to do in their own strength.

No flesh shall glory in God's presence. It's only the work that He does in and through us that is recognized by Him.

The great thing is that it is Him doing the works through us like the Father did through Jesus and then He gives us rewards for what is done because we participate with Him in doing these good works.

Resting/remaining/abiding in the Lord is not a lazy passive existence. When we know that God has already provided everything we need and we access His wisdom, provision, strength by faith - we'll be governed by the Holy Spirit in a highly strategic and active life.

Resting/remaining/abiding in the Lord is not an inactive lifestyle. It's a Spirit-led lifestyle where we flow in good works ( His fruit bearing in us ) that God had planned for us all along.

 Resting/remaining/abiding in the Lord is our obedience in action.

Resting/remaining/abiding in the Lord is our warfare.

Resting/remaining/abiding in the Lord is our faith in action.

Hebrews 4:10-11 (NASB)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His.

[SUP]11 [/SUP] Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience.

There is a vast difference between "us" doing things and the Lord doing things through and in us.

We can do things in our own flesh like Abraham tried to fulfill the will of God by creating an Ishmael or wait for the Lord to work through us to produce the child of promise - Isaac. Galatians 4:22-24, 30

Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.

It's only words, but words are all we have

but I find the reference to 'their' kind of disturbing. It seems people are drawn up into two factions and that is causing fractions

You will soon notice EG feels it his ministry to point out things, at length, with great conviction.
The problem is it speaks to his audience and not mine.

It is why I know we come from different faiths. It is like saying I got married, share a deep relationship
with my wife and someone saying I never knew her or understood her.

Funnily a friend of mine from school who I had not seen for years said he knew his lodger better than
I knew my wife to be. I should have told his wife to look out. I think he had a word of knowledge.

The problem with being called a pharisee, following the father of lies, and slandering and lying all the
time, it just washes over me. A classic is my example of saying one should rebuke brethren who are
racist. I am then accused of being judgmental. No surprise I suggest this is because the person themselves
is defending such a position. They then accuse me of lying. To me if you defend a racist, you are a racist.

But then in this world it is the world of the insane and continual agression. It is like saying we do not
condemn anyone, unless you stand up for a principle with another christian, you are evil. It is totally stupid
and hypocritical. It is fine to condemn legalists in their eyes, but that is not taking on the whole evangelical
church and calling them unsaved, except that is exactly what it is. I call this a thorn bush, push back and
you get ripped apart even more. And critise one of their leaders and their theology, how dare you question
one of Gods anointed. Only if you are as big as them can you ascend to this high office. That is EG and
his co-hort. But that is why I talk about it, bring it into the light for all to see.

Ember called me a prophet once.

But she did not mean it in a good way.

The idea that we were people of love, with hearts flowing out to those around her did not sit
well with her super-spiritual idea of gifts, miracles, prophecy, power and authority.

She was 100% convinced I was against the gifts. But then she did have a troubled passed.

There comes the time when we just let the truth out and not interact with those that persist saying things that is not being said. We just need to limit interaction with them and just give out the scriptures that represent what anyone believes and leave it at that.

We can trust the Holy Spirit in the viewers to speak to them about the truths of Christ and of His great love and grace towards them.

We can't make anyone see what is being said if they don't want to and they keep changing what is really being said.

We can just leave it in the Lord's hands....All is well...:)

God says i am powerless -- it is not by might, nor by power, but by His spirit. salvation is not by human will or exertion; it is by His mercy. no one can come to Him unless the Father draws them. He knows my thoughts, that they are futile. everything is vanity, vanity of vanities.

but He is powerful -- and He calls me, and reaches out to me. He calls what is not, as though it is. He raises out of the dust; He speaks of the future in past tense. He takes dead men's bones and wraps sinew & flesh on them, breathes life into them, and they rise and dance and praise Him. He speaks, and it is. He lives and works and wills within me :)

i believe Him - what was dead, he quickens, and renews, and restores.

i am powerless, but He has all power, and He loves me!

In reality you spoke about Ember's marriage in a disparaging way a few times and I'm sure you must have got a Pm from the mods asking you to refrain this kind of behavior.

Have you ever received a PM from a mod regarding your behavior towards fellow Christians with your abusive talk?
