Federal regulation of Internet coming, warn FCC, FEC commissioners | Washington Examiner

Democrats targeting content and control of the Internet, especially from conservative sources, are pushing hard to layer on new regulations and even censorship under the guise of promoting diversity while policing bullying, warn commissioners from the Federal Communications Commission and Federal Election Commission.
“Protecting freedom on the Internet is just one vote away,” said Lee E. Goodman, a commissioner on the FEC which is divided three Democrats to three Republicans. “There is a cloud over your free speech.”

Great, so we'll have to deal with allegations of "thought crime" at an increased clip.

Also, I hope the dark web is ready for swift and effective invasion of decent people.

Why do the progressives have to touch everything that works and makes me happy?

And this...

At a CATO Institute discussion on online speech Wednesday night, both said that regulators are eager to issue new rules that could put limits on what people could say on blogs, online news and even YouTube. Washington Examiner reporter Rudy Takala and Cato’s digital manager Kat Murti were also on the panel.

yes

let's shut down the truth cause right now there are still too many people who can think for themselves

I used to use social media quite a bit (for business) and I have really cut back and deleted stuff

I intend to leave fakebook as well and maybe just keep a website but that's in the air too

just the other day I commented on something on a post on fb (I very rarely do anymore) and someone came back and told me I did not know what I was talking about

well, a gang of people had already liked my post so I had proof I was not entirely off my rocker, but I blocked them but not before telling them I was tired of people telling me what to think and say

I really am

I hope they have some big jails and deep pockets to prosecute violators. I don't know many people who will pay any attention to their rules anyway. The government will never learn the lesson that my dad taught me as a young teenager. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Ha ha, bullies policing bullying, that is funny in a pathetic sort of "big brother" sort of way :p

The timing is amazing when you think of it. If the Democrats attain the majority of federal power soon, we will loose our ultimate freedom of speech, welfare will continue to be dispensed for political reasons (on a grand scale), and our right to bear arms will effectively be stripped.

Within an extremely short period of time, we will go from one of the freest nations in history to another totalitarian basket case.

Well, if this happens, we can say goodbye to freely sharing the word of God.

It will be too offensive.

Its weird, though. Why do people need this level of policing? Why not police themselves here? Im well aware of what sites are NOT friendly with followers of Christ, and I avoid them because of this.

Is it really too much to ask others to do the same themselves?

Of course, I dont really even believe its about protecting anyone, but just another way for those who hate the word of God to put themselves on top. Its a really sad world were walking into. I wonder what will happen next?

Happy to have internet at all? Thank a soldier.
Lol because the US is only country with internet? Nice.

Thank you soldiers for slaughtering civilians and using their blood to fuel my internet. Also, thank you for bombing charity hospitals so that the sun rises tomorrow.
