A review of the obvious…

And I saw a Messenger coming down out of Heaven, having the key of the abyss, and a great chain on his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, the old serpent who is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, and threw him into the abyss, and shut him up, and sealed over him, that he should not still lead astray the nations, until the thousand years are fulfilled. And after these things, he must be set loose a little time. (Rev 20.1 – 3)

Here we have a ‘Messenger’ with the power to bind Satan.

Only God has the power to bind Satan.

As further proof that the Messenger described in Rev 20 is Jesus, we have previous scripture using the same exact verbiage, describing a ‘Messenger’ with the following attributes…

And I saw another strong Messenger coming down out of the heaven, having been clothed with a cloud, and a rainbow on the head; and his face as the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire. And he had in his hand a little scroll having been opened. And he placed his right foot on the sea, and the left on the land, and cried with a great voice, as a lion roars. And when he cried, the seven thunders spoke their sounds. (Rev 10.1 – 3)

Any student of scripture will readily recognize that this passage comes from Ezekiel, as thus…

And from above the expanse that was over their heads was an appearance like a stone of lapis lazuli azure blue, the likeness of a throne. And on the likeness of the throne was a likeness in appearance like a man on it from above. And I saw Him, like the color of polished bronze, looking like fire within it all around. From the appearance of His loins and upward, and from the appearance of His loins and downward, I saw Him looking like fire; and brightness to it all around. As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloudin the day of the rain, so appeared the brightness all around. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of Jehovah. And I saw, and I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking. (Eze 1.26 – 28)

Clearly, and irrefutably, we have the Messenger of Revelation being described in the very same manner as that of Yahweh!

Thus…it becomes obvious that the Messenger described in both Rev 10 and Rev 20 is indeed The Son, Jesus.

Simple, Biblical Truth.

I never know what folks are looking to see when they ask about pointing out when Satan has possessed someone, I mean even when the utterance of Peter was looked upon and spoken to as Satan, and when Satan entered into Judas who betrayed the Lord, it wasnt something that was obvious to anyone (especially the disciples) either time.

Even before the cross with the demon possessed I dont recall in any of the circumstances where he asked their name and they said, "Oh I am Satan" but when the woman with the spirit of infirmity was spoken of Christ called that as being bound by Satan (not just bound by and evil spirit) and likewise we see men trying to cast out an evil spirit after the cross also, I would think the same was true there.

If Satan were unbound then he would do these things himself.

As it is....you keep providing us with further evidence that he CANNOT make it in person...he must use his fallen angels, the demons, to influence mankind....but, most assuredly, Satan is bound at this moment.

Jesus told us in the Gospels that when Satan is released, there will be worldwide cataclysmic events like mankind has never ever experienced before.

This is not yet occurring.

Scripture also says that Satan's time is very, very short...so, if he were to be released, he only needs to possess a certain few keys individuals to start a nuclear war.....and we don't see that happening yet...
Where in the Gospels does Jesus say this?

By many portions and in various forms, God spoke to the fathers in the prophets;

The Book of Hebrews is aptly named for the OT material of which it contains.

Heb 1.1 immediately informs the reader that the One God of the OT has always revealed Himself ‘by many portions’ (polymeros) and ‘in various forms’ (polytropos).

These two Greek terms are only used this one time/ea in the entirety of the Holy Bible, and lexically are defined as ‘One of the constituent parts of a whole; in a context where the whole and its parts are distinguished.’

A clear signal of the ONE Triune Creator God of the Universe.

You don't have to show us every time, brother....just ONE time, after The Cross!

I asked this of you for the past year, and you still can't even show us one verse.

What's the matter...?

And this is what you want to base you proof on regarding Satan being bound?
One of many scriptural proofs....you can't even get past...so you throw a tantrum...

Not impressed.

I can just point to the evil in the world and prove that Satan is not currently bound. As a literalist, you overlook the fact that there are 200,000,000 demons that are in the world today, per Revelation.

More than enough to provide evil across the planet.

Spread your hypocrisy elsewhere...

Where in the Gospels does Jesus say this?

Jesus, Himself, told us in Mat 24 that terrible things would occur BEFORE the end comes, and BEFORE the release of the 'abomination of desolation' (i.e. Satan).

Jesus lists-out many things occurring BEFORE the release of Satan....false prophets, wars, rumors of wars, nation set against nation, famine, plagues, earthquakes, the killing of Christians, etc...

So....what we are seeing today IS to be expected, per scripture.

But....

When Satan is unbound, we will see, for a brief period,
'great affliction, such as has not happened from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever will be.'

Everything going on in the world today has been seen played-out in various forms for thousands of years.

Clearly, any student of scripture can see that Satan is bound today.

Study your scriptures, and thank God that Satan is currently bound!

It doesnt say they were possesed of Satan either time really. Being bound by Satan is shown in the woman with "a spirit of" infirmity alone, and not that she had Satan inside her but something more ressembling "a messenger of" Satan even in her flesh.

And here, between Judas where it says,

John 13:2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him

And here, with Ananias

Acts 5:3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

The devil (who is Satan) put it in both their hearts before the cross and after, whether to betray Christ or lie to the Holy Ghost and keep back part of the price of the land, we see the same thing going on.

Then there are these taken captive by the devil

2 Ti 2:26
And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

We must have a bound devil taking people captive at his will then eh?

Two entirely different Greek verbs are employed, with two entirely different meanings.

Then there are these taken captive by the devil

2 Ti 2:26
And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

We must have a bound devil taking people captive at his will then eh?
:p

The 'Devil's snare' is what has already occurred to Satan at The Cross...i.e. he was judged at that point, according to scripture.

If you look at the five Greek locations of this word (and its inflections), you can easily see that this has everything to do will falling into the trap of being Judged, of which, Satan has already been.

This passage is a predicament of Judgment....NOT a declaration of Satan's authority.

1Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour

He might be just dragging around the ol' ball and chain (with permissions)

1 Peter 5.8

νηψατε γρηγορησατε ο αντιδικος υμων διαβολος ως λεων ωρυομενος περιπατει ζητων καταπιειν

nēpsate grēgorēsate ho antidikos hymōn diabolos hōs leōn ōryomenos peripatei zētōn tina katapiein

Be sober-minded, watch, the adversary devil of you walks about in the same manner as a roaring lion seeking whom to devour;

This passage does not refer to ‘The Devil’ himself, as ‘diabolos’ is anarthrous (i.e. it lacks a preceding Greek definite article).

Further, ‘ho antidikos’ (the adversary) is used in only one other NT passage, Mat 5.25, and is in the context of being thrown into prison.
