I have noticed that Americans are nostalgic about Mrs Thatch....but then again you didn't have to live under her policies. Great at foreign policy, pants at home.
Too right Margaret Thatcher put Womens career prospects back about 100 years as far as the general public were concerned.

Just a thought, I'm not sure that "women not having authority over men" would
apply , as her role is not to lead or teach in church or minister to others etc.

Just hope she does a better job than the last ones.

Regarding why not a younger woman, MPW is right, it takes a lot of experience to
run an entire country. Some people struggle just to run their own home.

Besides (lowering the tone now) can you imagine what decisions a younger woman
with PMT might end up making! Lol - Off With His Head :D

What was she thinking making Boris Foreign Secretary??? Was it a bet or did she promise him the role if he backed her? It does seem a strange appointment.

Well, King Henry VIII beheaded 2 of his 6 wives, and he didn't have PMT. Wonder what his problem was. Were his T levels too high?

He just liked women and when he couldn't divorce them he had them murdered. I don't think times have changed much over the years - it's just disguised as an accident these days.

I read that he got credit for developing the British navy to dominance? IDK british history I will admit but read that on the web? I know he was a brutal killer, thousands were murdered but he's lauded for his military buildup.

Well there is no doubt he did some good but in Britain he is chiefly remembered for his womanising.

I reject feminism .. but do believe God raises up and equips certain women to lead his people ..often I think its because we men are not what we should be.

Day 1. "I did not have sexual relations with that woman"
Day 2. "Forgive me, I have sinned"

A strange appointment but Boris, although eccentric is smarter than he appears. Apart from going to Oxford he speaks three languages. Very useful for a foreign Secretary.

Tact though isnt his strong point considering his new job.

Here is a couple of his opinions during the campaign:

On Hilary Clinton - With her Blond dyed hair and puckered lips, she looks like a sadistic nurse from a Mental Hospital

On the EU - Being a member is like sitting in the back of a Cab with a wonky Sat Nav and a driver that doesn't speak English or knows where he is going!

I think he was comparing her to nurse Ratched in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest ;)

I agree - he is well-educated and smarter than the persona he puts out but can he refrain from "putting his foot in it"?

Yes I suspect he had Nurse Ratched in mind. Lets hope he doesn't have to deal with her in the near future. Otherwise we may find ourselves out of Obama's Que instead of being last in it!

He's not going to be in power for much longer and even if he were to be...America need us as an ally - sure we need them more but it's a 2-way thing.

What's your personal definition of "feminism"?

For me it's women wanting to practice a man's role, being on a par with men, giving up our femininity, being "one of the lads". It's not accepting of our differing roles in society, not wanting to be treated different or "like a lady" and feeling insulted when we are. In short feminism is masculinity.
