One of my most frequent prayers to God is to work through me to stop myself from constantly assiging motives to people.

I want to react to someone's speech or actions in a Christ- like manner. I almost ALWAYS get it wrong when I do not see people like that. It happens at work, sometimes home, and many times here while discussing Scripture. Do others struggle with this?

Dear Heavenly Father, please let me view people, especially Your children, with an untainted lens, and see them as You see them. In Jesus sweet Name I pray.

Assigning motives to people is simply judging them. And probably at least 90% of people have something a little off in their motive - be it need for approval, or need to be needed, or need to also judge, or need to be "right", or need to be heard.

So just don't go there. Just respond to the thing said. All else is beyond our grasp. Only God knows.

Let's see....what's my motive in posting this? Is it a need to do something to fill the time today, or is it really to help you understand? I'm not even sure.

yes... who is really pure and clean? so even as we ask for a clean heart for ourself, we hope for others too. long ago i brought one of th children to a palliative care haus here. sure i wanted them to see that there is more to life around us that they may not be aware of. at the same time i sensed there was part of me that wanted to 'do good works' but deep within i questioned my motives. but now i hope i just question my own, not others'.
