Ok simply put. How do you know for certain if the Lord is calling you to do something?

God speaks to our hearts, [Our Spirit], Not our minds. 1 Cor 2: 10--14.
Mankind is Spirit souls and body, With our body, we contact the physical realm , with the soul, we contact the mental realm,
And with the spirit we contact the spirit realm.
The Bible calls the inward man, [The spirit], The belly, Prov 20: 27. Jn 7: 37--39. So if you will be sensitive to what your inward man is saying, you will hear and know the will of God for your life.
It can come by an inward witness, [It's just a knowing]. Acts 14: 8--10
Or it can come by the still small voice, [In your spirit]. 1 Kings 19: 11---12
Or it can come by the Holy Spirit speaking to you, [This voice has more authority, and is more clearer]. Acts 8: 29.
Acts 9: 10--16.

They are the main ways that God leads us.

Jesus said His sheep will hear His voice. Jn 10: 27. Paul said the children of God are led by the Spirit of God, And God speaks Spirit to Spirit. Rom 8: 14
James said if we lack wisdom, [Insight to future events], let us ask God who gives it to us. James 1: 5.
So ask God for guidance, Then keep thanking Him for wisdom leading and guidance.
The Prophets and Teachers in Church at Antioch, Acts 13: 1--3 were praising, thanking and worshiping God, and it created an atmosphere where God could speak to them.

Paul said don't be unwise, but understand God's will, Then he tells us how we can understand God's will.
"Be filled with the Holy Spirit". Eph 5: 17--18.
Speaking in tongues will help, as one of the operations of tongues is, Our spirit praying 1 Cor 14: 14.
And 1 Cor 14: 2 says when we speak in tongues, we speak mysteries, [Hidden secrets], Not hidden from us, But hidden for us, And one way to have these secrets revealed, is by praying in tongues. 1 Cor 14: 13. So if God said we can interpret tongues, that means we must know what He is saying, and in the same way, God can reveal His plans for us, as we pray in tongues.

I find that God usually does not supply an entire outline

That is why Jesus tells us to FOLLOW Him

If you study believers in scripture, sometimes they do not even know what is next, other than that God is calling them

In ministry, opportunities become available as we rely on God

Personally, I would not go to others to try and find out what God is saying to me

We each have our own walk with God

You are right, each Christian should be guided by the Holy Spirit, not by other people.
God might give a Christian a word for another Christian, but it probably come as a witness to them.
And if a word from a Christian doesn't witness with them, they shouldn't act on it.

it had better be that each one is talking to themselves or else blaspheming against the HS by attributing the widespread division, disunity, disputes, divergence, confusion as the result or fruits due to His inspiration - wincam

What are you talking about? ?.And what has that got to do with discerning God's will.
You can't even say Holy Spirit, you just say HS, it proves how much respect you have for the Holy Spirit.

Please keep to the topic.

the great confusion is attributing to yourselves what was intended for the Apostles and/or early Christians - here, as elsewhere also, we should carefully note and correctly interpret and understand Jn.14:17 - are we the you here referred to or the world that does not and cannot know the HS - wincam

not at all - but to realise this for yourself - first tell us exactly where the following are located viz spirit, soul, heart, body, brain , mind - btw exactly how is it God supposedly speaks to us - is it really through tongues - how did HE speak before now and why ? - wincam

Thank you. I am seeking Godly wisdom, I have not asked someone to tell me one way or another what the Lord is telling me. Just asking how other more mature Christians discerned his will. Gideon asked God to wet or dry a Mat. for discernment. I am doing what I am told, testing the spirit. I am new to this and how else is a lesser known Christian to learn. I know to take mans word with a grain of salt. I am just seeking sound biblical wisdom on how others discerned correctly when God was calling them up.

How can anyone trust what you say, as you are to ashamed to say, "Holy Spirit", but instead, you put "HS".
The Holy Spirit, [Which you can't say], Is given to every believer, Matt 3: 11. Jn 7: 37--37. Jn 14: 12--17.

Please keep to the topic, "Discernment".

Mankind is Spirit soul and body, 1 Thess 5: 23
The Greek word for, "Spirit", is " Pneuma". Soul is, "Psuche". and body is, "Soma".

As for God speaks to us, See my first post.
Tongues can be interpreted, or reveal secrets to us as we are praying in tongues,
and tongues are just one way that God can speak to us,
But the main way is by the inward witness, [God revealing things to our spirit].

Gideon wasn't even a Covenant man, and we don't put out a fleece in the New Testament Church, as we are led by the Holy Spirit.

Posting in the Bible Discussion Forum is the equivalent to walking up to someone and pushing them. There is always going to be a fight.
And as a public forum, when you post, anyone has the right to come give their response as they see fit. It's not really something you can prohibit others from doing. : /

Thanks for the heads up. I asked it to be moved. I just asked for wisdom and not arguing. Kinda hard when we are suppose to have Christ's love. Lesson learned
