Is being gay a sin?

Well... I think the title is pretty clear ;) Just to clarify what I mean with that question: I'm talking about being gay, not about being in a relation with other man (or woman for the ladies here ;) ). Because I know people who are gay and Christian but who choose to not start a relationship with someone from the same sex because they believe what the bible says about it. Can answer it for me please?

It is impossible to be gay AND a christian. If a homo truly believes what the bible says about being gay, they wouldn't even turn gay to begin with. A gay person trying to be a christian while being gay, is just making a mockery of God and His word.. And what's the point of being gay, if you're NOT going to be in a relationship? :confused:

Feelings are something that cannot always be helped. But yes, I believe you are correct. If one is gay, as long as they remain abstinent and do not pursue after persons of the same sex, then they are fine. The temptation will always be there but remember it's not a sin to be tempted. It's what you decide to do with that temptation: run from it? Or follow through with it?

Let's just say that they don't want to be gay... They've been praying for years about it alone and with others asking God to change them. So they certainly did NOT choose it ;) So because they want to change, but can't (because this stuff is 90%of the time determined with birth), ask God to help them, live a good christian life and resist the temptation they aren't/can't be Christian? That's something that doesn't sound right...

People CHOOSE to turn gay at some point in their life. We are NOT BORN gay. God does NOT create gay babies. So whether or not someone turns gay in the future is NOT determined at birth. That's baloney. Ever heard of free will? We all have it. Free will to stay straight, go gay, do drugs, get drunk, etc.. So nope, if a person is gay, they aren't truly a christian.

Amen and we also choose to love or to hate or to forgive,... You cannot be a christian and a abomination unto God. Choose the right way or go to hell.

No, God does not create gay babies but we are products of a BROKEN world. Sin cursed not only the earth we walk on but also our very flesh is cursed as well. Everyone has that one thorn in their side that they deal with in life. For some people, it is the issue of drinking. For some, it is the urge to steal (kleptomania for example). For others, struggling with homosexuality is just another part of it. There is a difference between being TEMPTED to sin and PRACTICING a certain sin and repeating it over and over until you lose the ability to discern that what you are doing is wrong. Everyone has that one sin that they struggle with but it doesn't make a person any less of a Christian than it does our own neighbors.

I think that if all Christians who have sinned/are sinners were denied access to Heaven that it'd be a very empty place up there....

Take the focus off of your sin, whether it be lying, gossip, lust, drugs, hatred, anger, HOMOSEXUALITY, drunkeness, covetousness, etc.. etc... Accept Jesus. Be filled with the Holy Spirit, and focus on HIM. He died for the homosexual just like the gossip.

No one is going to hell because they committed those sins. They are going because they refused the ONLY CURE for their sins. JESUS CHRIST. Preach this love to your homosexual friends.

Being Gay is a sin issue just like every other sin. It is hard for anyone on here to give any other advice but to read scripture, develop a relationship with the Lord and at the same time love the Lord with all your heart and soul. We don't know your relationship with the Lord so if you don't do the above then I would say you aren't in a relationship with the Lord and that is where you need to start. He will begin working on your heart and taking care of the rest.

You cannot be a Christian and be gay, if you claim to be then you need spiritual deliverance from the spirit of homosexuality/perverseness. You should seek out a pastor/deliverance minister to help you out. God Bless!

I actually do know a man who is not attracted to females and chooses to remain celibate. He had a buddy in the same situation and they lived together as Christian brothers to help encourage one another. Sadly, his buddy just recently died from complications of the AIDS virus.

We are all born with a dead spirit we inherited from Adam. Until salvation the flesh (which is wicked) is who we are. In that sense we are indeed born alcoholics, liars, gossipers, homosexuals murderers and a host of other sin driven things. Once we are saved then our old sin nature is crucified and the new creation we become is risen up with Christ.
It is not realistic to think those not saved will be able to overcome sin. In fact, any honest person here would admit they still struggle with the flesh on a daily basis. However once we are saved we ARE a new creation in Christ, just because our flesh will sometimes win does not in any way shape or form either void our salvation or make our true identity become our flesh again.
One of satan's most subtle ways of keeping others from salvation is to use the fears and prejudices of those who are saved as a way of keeping those in need of salvation in bondage. When we as ambassadors of Christ react to any topic with hate or fear instead of love any unsaved person can say "see, those so called Christians haven't really changed, they still let hate and fear determine their reactions."
It is a difficult thing indeed to rise above our fleshly desire and not let the things that disgust it cause us to react in the way the flesh would have us react. We are to reflect the love Jesus has shown us so that others may see it. We either walk in the light or walk in the flesh, there is no other option. This at times seems unjust to us but this is only because God's ways are above our ways. We don't get to see the big picture yet rather we must rely on faith.
As a person whose flesh will be in recovery from alcohol and drugs so long as it walks this earth I know that while my true identity is the new creation Christ has made me I must still guard against my flesh by attending meetings and helping others. If , however my flesh wins the battle and I relapse this would in no way affect either my salvation or identity or change how God sees me. It would have dire consequences here in this life but not in the next. I am unfamiliar with homosexuality but I have found that as I age it becomes much easier to deny the flesh fornication.
To tell someone who is not saved they can't be a Christian until they change is both ignorant and unbiblical. We change once we become the new creation, not before. I think that anything that hinders anyone's desire to become saved is demonic as it is accomplishing not what God wants but what satan wants. Remember zero sin is in Heaven, none. Before salvation sin ruled our lives and we were ruled by it, don't keep another of God's creations from the miracle we were given by reacting with hate or trying to shame someone into trusting God, it's both ineffective and unChristian. Instead let us show those not saved the awesome grace God has shown us so that they too will want to come to know Jesus and His amazing love for us.

What about Divorced and Christian? Is that impossible too then, according to you?

Well, this question has already been answered, and I am glad to see that AuntieAnt has also brought up that there are men that are simply not attracted to women (but not necessarily attracted to men either), and that this situation also presents its own challenges.

I find myself in the "not attracted to anybody whatsoever" camp, and because I do and always have for as long as I can remember, I feel that the only thing I can do to not be seen as abominable is to be completely celibate for the rest of my life.

Born with it? Folks are born with chemical & hormonal imbalances all the time, not to mention born with 2 full sets of genitals.

I would suggest researching how medicines & by products from pharmaceutical companies getting into the water supply is making fish & frogs homosexual, impotent, & physically retarded. Then, read Jude 1:22-23 (KJV)

God makes allowance for divorce (physical/sexual abuse and adultery). He does NOT make allowance for someone to turn gay and try to live as a christian. Apples and oranges..
