Wow! That's good. I have yet to reach 325.

Ounces or punds?

LOL.

I have no idea what I can do,but I was watching my boy press a bunch of weight that had the bar curved under the weight.

I said "I know I can't do that anymore"

My wife said yes you can ...try it"

I surprised myself and pumped that thing like a rag doll.

I looked at my son and said "what you straining for Junior?"

Ill have to ask him how much weight it was. (then add a little to it when I retell it to spice up the story)

I see it the exact same way. We need to hear more teaching on Jesus and what He has done in order to have this grace that is in Him activated in our lives. All teaching that lifts up the work of Christ will bring grace with it which is really Christ Himself being revealed.

I always ask myself 3 questions about truth or a teaching as it relates to the grace of God being manifested in our lives..

1) Does it make Jesus bigger in your heart when you see His work and majesty?
( Or does it bring fear and insecurity because you are not "doing" enough to stay saved? )

2) Does it make you depend on Jesus and His finished work?
( or does it depend on what "you do" and depend on yourself?)

3) Does it make you fall deeply in love with your Lord, our Father and with all people?
(Or does it make you view others as accursed, hated by God...etc - even though He loves them so much He sent His Son to die for them )

If I can answer these questions in the affirmative - then it is the good news of the grace of Christ.

We can view scriptures through the lens of the Old Covenant and then try to mix in a little of the New Covenant and we end up in mess of "working to maintain" our own righteousness for going to heaven.

When ever we don't factor in the finished work of Christ nor the real purpose for Jesus dying for us - the fact that God loves us dearly and He is not looking for ways to keep people from Him - we will end up in error as we are mixing up the covenants.

It must be Monday.....:p

moving right along......

watched Joyce Meyer this am...if she was ever WOF, she sure has moved away from that. she spoke and has been speaking about relationship with God and how we need to spend time with God and put Him first

THAT, IS what changes us!!! That, is when we are going to have revelation and see light IN His light!

The broken cisterns result from turning away from God. (Jeremiah from the op) God says to the Israelites...I have 2 things against you...you have turned away from Me (the LIVING God) and made BROKEN cisterns for yourselves...

interestingly, cisterns have linings. a cistern is not a well...it is a container that is often used to catch rainwater...and we know in Israel that water is precious

I don't want to over spiritualize things here, but God sends the rain (read the Psalms), His word does not return to Him void but waters where ever He sends it, and the OT indicates that the Holy Spirit is or would be springing up inside of God's people

looking at those things, we turn from God when we turn to others and put them in place of God because of a lack of relationship...that is, we substitute and want a person inbetween us and God...like Moses between God and the Israelites...but God never meant to be second hand news in our lives.

We have the 'lining' of the Holy Spirit in us, to contain the word as God sends it to us, and as He reveals it to us through His Son...we do not have to be cracked or broken or leaking...if we leak, it should be in sharing

we know that there are multiples of references wherein water is as a metaphor for the Holy Spirit

we need fresh water every day...would we drink from an algae covered pond ?

anyway, this is kind of what I am seeing here...thinking about it

just so

we have tried very hard to explain that and no one more than you have...and with greater patience than I have certainly

but I am seeing something more in that verse from John 1

14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

I really like this verse from Peter that you included:

1 Peter 1:13
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace being brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

my last post, I mentioned John 1:14

14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

that has to be God's grace I'm thinking

Jesus came full of the grace of God

we know the scripture says that Jesus came to show us the Father

so, IN Him, we have the living Word...the living grace...all we could need to demonstrate all that is the grace of God towards us who believe

how do you and others see that?

That's right. John explained that "grace...was realized in Jesus Christ" (John 1:17); i.e. grace "came into being," "came to pass," "happened" historically in Jesus Christ.

In your last paragraph cursing came from your lips against ones our Lord DIED for. That's unacceptable even if you DO think they are not perfect in understanding yet. It's not acceptable when they do it and it's not acceptable when you do it.

Do you see this?
Bless you sister. May the Lords love and grace shine upon you and give you peace.

I am wrong to defend myself, for I am nothing in His glorious presence.
Do I know Christ? Amen I do.

Do I know His sacrifice for a sinner such as me? Amen I do.

Do I know purity and righteousness is His gift through setting free love in our hearts?
Amen I do.

To easily I fall into my understanding and my desire to participate in conflict rather than
accept I am just a servant of the King, and there is no dispute with Him, just bowing the
knee.

Thankyou Lord that you showed us through the death of your son, we have no defence
against evil other than to show love is victory, though in this world it often leads to death
at the hands of violent men.

Bless those who hear and walk in your love, Amen

Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.
Heb 12:14-16
I met a person some years ago who had let a bitter root grow in them. Every conversation
was turned against the people they felt bitter about.

It reminded me of another conversation here on cc about legalism and churches people had
belonged to in the passed. I was linked with their experiences and told I was just like so & so
and how lost and empty they were.

I also got hurt in my church and thought I was rejected etc. But then forgiveness came and
I was set free. I realised it was bitterness and the wrong expectations that led to judgementalism
and condemnation. So quickly it grew. The key signs are continual mention of a group or
person, as if they embody some evil, which no-one actually does.

So it makes me wonder if HG is at its core is about a root of bitterness, and so much is about
reflecting on the failure of others, and not enough on what Christ is doing in their hearts today.

Everywhere hurts can cause bitterness, but dwelling in Christ and seeing His love and words, washes
and heals the soul, so each person appears as a fresh opportunity to share love and blessing with.

So bless you all in your sharing and reaching out to Christ and His work in your lives. We are all
dependent on God for everything, and need His spirit to work powerfully in us to bring us into His love

Yes! This is what I have been trying to say in forum for a long time now. :)
We all think a little differently, but we all love our Lord.
And we are all growing in understanding, and we help each other by whatever verses or explanations the Lord gives each of us to help us and each other.

NO ONE should be made to feel unsafe to say how they see something.
Someone else can then say, I see it a little differently....and then explain how they see it.
But without attacking the other person for how they see it.
If it's done this way, no one has to go on the defense and then learning can occur both ways.
If we spend every day, all day, defending and attacking, no one feels safe to say what they think about a certain verse or idea

If we speak with no attacking or defending, the Holy Spirit WILL bring us to agreement. Not agreement on every small thing, but even just an agreement on how we are to speak with each other, forgive each other, and love each other. And that's unity!

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Eph 4:11-13

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 5-8

Mercy is God withholding the punishment we deserve

God blesses us by having substituted His own Son in our place

We receive grace from God...He is merciful towards us.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God Ephesians 2:8

In His mercy, God extends grace and through that grace He extends forgiveness

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace Ephesians 1:7

Through His grace, we have reconciliation...with Him and even with each other as His grace is extended through us

19For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Colossians 1: 19-20

Grace is, briefly, God's unmerited favor to us

That means that even though we do not deserve...that is we have all fallen far short of the equivalent of sinless...God extends His mercy through His Son taking our place and blesses us with His grace

I mentioned broken cisterns in the op...the words given to Jeremiah by God:

My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water. Jeremiah 2:13

The only way to being accepted by God is the way that He has created. No self-effort or act of sacrifice is acceptable to Him. Even so, He only extends one kind of grace..as explained above.

When a person sins or continues in their sin, they are not exhibiting anything other than sin. They have fallen short of the mark; they may have received God's mercy but they are failing to live in His grace...the grace He offers.

Can we discuss that grace as it is described in scripture without adding to it or detracting from it?

this thread was never started to discuss hyper anything

to be sure, people have tried very hard to make it about what some are calling hyper grace

however, if the op is actually read, it can be seen that is not the topic

the title does NOT read hyper grace...it says 'hyper stuff' and the op explains what I had in mind

this is from the op:

People condoling sin and getting drunk, committing adultery and cursing others is hardly the grace of God. So why are people calling it hyper grace?

Personally, I don't think ANYONE needs or can or should, point fingers at others and blame grace for sin.

Calling the sinful acts of people who have turned their backs on the gospel and have accepted a lie, HYPER GRACE is utter nonsense.

Let's call it what it is. IT IS SIN.
we do not have a cure for sin

only God does

it is called GRACE

Yes, I think we are all on board now Lauren! I am eager to talk about Gods' marvelous grace! I had some very trying times before I came to see that I just needed to ask Him for the help I needed! I knew He saved me and I couldn't believe that He was now inside me, communing with me all the time! Like, I lived 42 years without Him in me and I don't know how, now that I know him!
But I still took a long time to see that He wanted me to trust Him the same way for my sanctification as I had for my saving. I just didn't get that so quickly.

Edit: that was a reply to post#538 :)
