Maybe it's the type of church you have chosen. From your word choice I can see where they would get cult from since it sounds like a charismatic slain in the spirit speaking in tongues sort of place. Which are frequently full of heresies and rather cult like.

What do I do when my own parents are turning against me and my faith? Last night I attended revival that my church is hosting. Church let out at 9 after it let out I went to one of couples houses for about an hour, which put me getting home around 10:30. When I got home my parents were furious. They lashed out at me and told me I didn't need to be hanging around with the people I go to church with. Which of course made me curious as to why they would say that, so I asked them what they meant. At first they just said I would find out on my own, but after some begging my mom finally told me they didn't agree with me going to that church. She literally called it a cult. Which it is far from. I love this church, the preach the gospel correct and the anointing is there. The people literally treat me like family so of course I love to hang out with them even outside of the church. See I don't expect my parents to understand my relationship with God or church. They aren't even saved nor even attend church. Don't even get me started on when I tried to explain to them. It hurt me so bad. I am not giving up going to this church. I feel God and the love there. I don't know what to do. I have reserved a hotel room tonight because I don't even want to go home, but I'm afraid that might be a bad idea too. What should I do?
I know exactly how you feel. It is because they do not understand the anointing. Just pray for them and keep letting your light shine. The word says your household will be saved. Of course it is In Gods timing. I would keep putting God first.

You don't say how old you are, which would have helped this post a lot.

I was 26 when I got saved, but my parents saw immediately how much better that it was for me that the wild hippie that I was. I gave them Bibles witnessed and prayed for them from that point on. It took 30 years before my mom accepted the Lord, and 31 before my dad accepted the Lord - 5 months before he passed away.

I think you need to show the love of Christ, but also be firm that you are not going back to the way you were. As for staying out till 10:30 was it? Yikes! If you are an adult, they should not be complaining. And even if you are an older teen, I cannot see why they are getting upset about that time.

There is an element of persecution here, so pray for them and for your situation. But don't fight, just be firm!

She states in post #15 that she is 'legal age', so 18+. And that she also helps with the bills and doing things around the house.

And the complaint wasn't about being out that late, but WHO she was with so late.

I really can't give you precise direction from the information given - not all the details and not all the story is here: I don't know you, your parents, or the church . . .

I speak as a parent who deeply cares about his children - and I think most parents do care deeply about their children -

I suggest you are very careful about outrightly disobeying your parents. I am not saying - Just do whatever they say without question though either.

First - Display a heart to them that wants to please them and follow their wishes (I sense you already have this).
Second - Tell them you respect them and want to hear them. Ask them why they don't like the church or the people - listen to them - ask questions - pray about it -

If you just leave home or display a "know-it-all" better than thou attitude, it will only reinforce your parent's view of this church and of your friends there.

Is it a normal church or some whackadoo charismatic, speaking in tongues, pentecostal nightmare of a church?

In reference to what he said above;
Example:
Many "Charismatic" churches tend to be more.... loud / active than some other churches.
This can be both a wonderful thing and a dangerous thing, depending on whether it is really the spirit working in people.

Speaking in tongues is normal. Everyone speaking in tongues is not. Nor is tongues without an interpreter.

I personally am highly sceptical of people being "slain" in the spirit. Remember that God is a God of order.

You find just as many heresies in Baptist churches and all other denominations...

And? You will find things that arent of God in all denominatiins. Thats a fact. Just as much as a fact that demons cant stand the presence of the holy spirit

The first church was on fire for God. Healing the sick, casting out devils, laying hands on people and they recieved the holy ghost. What has happened? God said to be hot or cold.

Well you see that people rather deem the Holy Spirits works as works of Satan and are bound in fear of what they dont understand than to research and check it out and become free. People rather think every believer is demon free immedeately because it easier. People rather be traditional and sing their hymns and live it up.

It is because of the man made traditions instead of the word being taught. They omit scriptures.
