Come on, tell us how you REALLY feel..![]()
I do agreeI hate hearing that from people. I believe that an act of kindness goes further than some can see...
Letting someone know that they aren't alone or forgotten can save a life.
Do any of you agree?
I do agreeI remember so well many years when I was saying I would not have been alive were it not for the kindness, care, and concern of a few friends. They really did help save my life; because of them I knew all was not lost. I am so sorry you know so many who felt so lost and unloved they ended their lives. It truly is a tragedy when that happens
Welp this younger generation is doomed from the get go.
So be it.
Until people actually grow a back bone there will be suicidal people everywhere.
You are such a dear sweet darling and your faith is an inspiration to many here. You have so much to offer, that I think any of your peers who are in the depths of despair might safely lean on you for some comfort.Yayyyy Magenta!
Your comments always make me smile![]()
It isn't about people growing backbones, Nate. Suicide is about feeling alone, hopeless, and helpless. It's about someone feeling like there is no other option. They may have been abandoned by everyone in their life and feel totally alone and worthless. They feel like even God doesn't hear them. Suicide is about pain, be it emotional, physical or mental pain. The person just wants the pain to STOP. Unless YOU have been in such agonizing physical or emotional pain, that it paralyzes and numbs every part of you, then you couldn't possibly understand what a person in that state of mind feels like, as they are holding a gun to their head, or a knife to their throat or wrist, or waiting for that bottle of pills they just swallowed, to kick in.. Don't demean the dead and say they didn't have the strength to stay here and live. It takes strength to kill yourself, just as it takes strength to change your mind and stay here and endure through..

People usually need at least a Master's degree to have barely enough knowledge to start counseling other folks. I was a counselor with an unrelated liberal arts degree. I quit the day I was trying to help a teen and she walked out hysterical. I spent the next four months wondering if she had killed herself, and had she, I didn't take her to that edge, but I certainly helped push her closer. Much to my relief an old coworker called me to let me know she didn't kill herself.Yes, and we honestly have no idea what we are doing wrong.
I try to help out to spread encouragement and God's love within our church but there's only so much one person can do (especially one teen)
We are trying though
Duh now! What are you thinking? Jesus came for the strong?meh, self harm is only for the weak. just saying.
I was thinking of where to slam my knee. Good thing the internet isn't set up for the sense of touch, huh? That comment made me very mad haha
Gotta stay polite Natania....![]()
Yeah, well I'm blaming you for your insensitivity and ignorance? Want to keep proving exactly how ignorant you can be? Or want to be wise and think before you post for a change? Most likely, I would blame the parenting for the cause of suicidal actions.
I was 44. I didn't even think of my parents. Not always. my suicidal thoughts and attempts weren't caused by my parent's actions. Life events from early teens even up to today is what almost did me in. People suicide for a variety of reasons, and it's not always the parents' fault.
Good, because I was trying to do your math problem from the post right before this one? And, if I handed it into you, I failed. (Pretending ignorance.)*boom*
I exploded...
Where's your backbone? Because nothing need to hold up your brain, and it takes absolutely no spine to take pot shots online. Are all 420 of your posts this stupid?Welp this younger generation is doomed from the get go.
So be it.

I was 23. You're 14. To think I had the skill to help with my background, (and I did have some background in counseling), was wrong of me and of the people who hired me. There was 1 person in that counseling center with the degree, and a lot of people teaching a bunch of nonsense, because that one person was put in charge of the business behind that counseling center. And the nonsense they taught was to college students or people just out of college. We just didn't know as much as we thought we did.
Your pastor ought to be able to figure out what he is teaching, and what he is teaching his staff and volunteers that is so incredibly bad. The elders and his support system had better be trusted enough that he listens to them. But this isn't a problem for church members to resolve. It's their problem. And, if nothing happens -- nothing changes? Find a new church! Because whatever their message is, it's not a good message.
This is about knowledge you simply don't have yet. This is about knowledge I can only sense, but I don't have. This is knowledge a trained pastor ought to have. I'm not saying the pastor could have helped all those kids. I'm saying someone with knowledge ought to have had the resources in place to get people in that bad shape help immediately. It wouldn't have helped all those kids, but it would have helped the majority of them.
A hopelessness set in, and I'm afraid for you. (I'd be afraid for more, but I don't know anyone else in your church.)
