My relationship with food is an emotional rollercoaster these days. I go out hiking and I see some mushrooms growing, and I think hey, those look a lot like the mushrooms that the guy at the farmer's market had and they were too expensive so I didn't get to try them.
Thrill of discovery mounts and I finally decide, heck I'm going to grab them and if they aren't the right ones I can always throw them away later.
Then there's the get to know you time, the internet searches and the determination that yeah, these probably are the right mushrooms and now I'm gonna get to eat some. So I spend some time carefully washing, cleaning up, and just taking care of the mushrooms so they'll be ready to cook and eat.
But then the really horrible thing happened as my allergies felt very aggravated after that time spent preparing the mushrooms.
And so after much thought and careful consideration, I had to decide that it was best for us to part ways. I'm not aware of any severe food allergies, but I just kind of think it might not be very wise to eat food that you suspect gave you moderately severe (just glad I didn't drive off the road while sneezing) allergy symptoms. It's just that I kind of enjoy breathing.
So the mushrooms are in the trash, and I am once again alone and bereft of exciting new foods to try.
And how was everyone else's day?
