Or...

I've been fat all my life it's my jeans I can't fit them anymore ;P
Don't worry about it, man. They're making jeans smaller than they used to. Cost saving venture, you know. Why just the other day I tried on my normal pant size and it was a bit snug. I wrote a strongly worded letter to those responsible.

And by the way... they're making print smaller too.

None of us has ever seen you, but you seem right appealing in a Godly sort of way. Engaging. Ravishing, as it were. Beguiling. Bewitching if you know what I mean. Killer, cute, drop dead gorgeous.... easy on the eye. Foxy. Formally beauteous. Babebraham Lincoln.

This is what happens when I 'see' you...

Lol! !

Baberham Lincoln that's hysterical!

I hope I didn't come off as trying to fish for compliments. I don't do that. In fact in high school I was voted least likely to fish for compliments, or fish. Just those Jelly Swedish fish because those are awesome.

I just want to let other people know what it's like to deal with body issue's. My 9 year old beautiful Daughter came up to me the other day and asked me if she was chubby? I was so sad about that. She's a normal healthy weight. She's beautiful too, big blue eyes and a cute little button nose. It hurts me that at 9 year's old that she thinks she's fat. One thing I pray about a lot is for my kids to not suffer this poor image stuff. I would be heartbroken if they ended up with an eating disorder like I had. I have always tried not to put myself down in front of them.

But thanks Ken. I had a picture of me posted here before. I had straightened my hair and took a selfie, I cringe at the word selfie.

Vanity sizing is real for women's clothing . For example in a pair of Levi's, you might get a size 12, but that same size in a pair of Lee Jean's might be to tight. Same with shirts. At Old Navy their large fit's me well . I go to Target try on the same style shirt and I need an extra large.

I just returned home after visiting family and friends for a week in Nebraska. I stayed with my older sister. She is obese. She is not a Christian. Actually, she is not obese. She is in one of the other categories the CDC now uses to describe the percentage of fat a person has. The categories include underweight, normal, overweight, obese, morbidly obese, super obese, and the most recent category the CDC had to add, super super obese. My sister is likely super obese.

I don't know what the numbers look like when you compare obese Christians to obese non-Christians. There are plenty of both. Currently, the United States leads the industrialized world in percentage of population that is obese, at 34%. In 1960, that percentage was 13%. Twenty years from now it could be 50%. In India, only 4.5% of people are overweight and only .7% are obese.

Medical professionals and the CDC all say the same thing. It is not a result of genetics or thyroid issues. It is gluttony. It is eating more calories each day than is needed or burned off through exercise. Only on forums like this will you see people making excuses for obesity that allow them to avoid personal responsibility. Yes, depressed people can eat more. Divorced people can eat more. Poor people purchase more processed foods and high-fat foods. Yet there are all sorts of poor people in countries without so many obese people.

I love my sister. She feels surgery is too dangerous. She says she is no longer capable of exercising. She uses a step to help get into bed. She uses an extension on her seatbelt. She cannot fly on commercial airlines. She eats fatty foods and eats large portions. She always sounds winded. Her quality of life is diminished. When we went out to get groceries, she stayed in the car and waited for me to do the shopping. She is in her early 60's, and just retired after 39 years working as a nurse. She will likely run out the clock by living mostly in her home and visiting two other sisters living nearby. She does still do some yard work, and it could kill her one day. I love her and always will love her. I wish she would accept Christ as her savior and I wish she could experience life as a thin person.

One big problem here in America and probably other countries is processed food. It's easy and good. One thing I've learned is to take the fresh food, chicken, veggies, etc, and cook it in the crock pot. It's simple to make and it's simple food without all the preservatives.

Hi fenner, sure a nice picture there. Yes, why is it when processed foods are packaged so nicely too (and that is part of why ppl cannot resist some food, isnt it), well thats just it, we cannot resist it when we brought cash in our pocket-) at the shops too. Funny but relatives from there will give or send granola or this or that.. and ive come to the habit of reading ingredients and Dv, esp the sugar! Although it is almost th same here anyway, we see more and more hydrogenated veg. fats, artificial sweeteners, and of course colors. These make things very attractive. The sad thing however, is, when i try to make some at home and reduce the sugar or sugary ingredients(and serve not packed in such colorful packaging too), abt only one of the guys notice there is granola at home.
And corn too. How easy to open a can of yellow corn-- and i say yellow-- because i am not sure if that is just coloring and not the natural hue... instead of purchasing corn w/ husk, peeling and cleaning as well before u can even boil or grate?to use in other recipes. It is like, who has time for that?

Thank u for sharing this... now i start to type... i am only thinking how it is to get about with such weight and at her age. And i'm thinking abt my ma also, who was never really overweight as far as i knew. She's only abt 5'1'' or 5'2'' (cant remember!), and maintained her weight thru the yrs. In her senior yrs however, and i heard this part of those growing older, that they become lazier (or less active and also because of other health issues), can do less physical exercises they could previously do,and so become more sluggish, then gain more weight sometimes. I rememer reading a grandson asking on yahoo answers abt her grannie who he said was so lazy he didnt know how to help her... but then that was a real legit question young ppl can and need to know abt for in time they may have to deal with their own parents and grandparents also, and will grow old (but not obese, we hope) and cope and help as best they could.

What I really love about this forum is that you can imagine what the members look like. I imagine you Fenner as a lovely kind lady that I would be proud to spend time with. My Dad is terrible at judging people by their weight I really hate that. It's not what they look like on the outside that matters it's what they are like inside that is important.

BTW I'm skinny. But who cares I don't :)

I all depends on the reason.

As others have said, many have conditions that cause it.

That being said, we all know that those who eat a fat dripping big mac (or other fast food) with a gallon of coke every day, and only walk from their bed to their car and back, can hardly blame the disease if they are overweight.

I'm one of those people who just can't seem to gain weight. ... but I do overall eat healthily , and am very restless, so maybe that's a good combination :p

We grow corn in the summer and it's yellow, there are different varieties, I think your safe . Lol I buy a lot of frozen vegetables and some in a can.

The pre packaged food is quick and convenient isn't it? I started doing something one day of the week that helps my life go more smoothly. I take one day and put together what I am making for the week. If I plan chicken on Monday , Okay chicken is out of the freezer in the fridge, what's going in with it? Ok I'll put some basil and potatoes in with it, or whatever spice , that can go in the crock pot. Tuesday we'll have taco's , simple make sure ground turkey or beef is pulled out of freezer Monday evening. Lettuce chopped, everything set to go. Wednesday will have something else, one day we will have leftovers. I found that made my life easier, no, what's for dinner going through my head. It's already planned.

I've got nobody to blame for my being 50 pounds overweight but me. I eat too much, too often. I don't exercise enough. Most importantly, I don't care. I don't care that I have a pot belly. I don't care that I have no clothes that fit. I just don't care. I've got a lot of things to change if I am going to lose weight, and it has to start with my attitude.

It's a battle. I think I've been in a battle with food almost my entire life. I knits that sounds ridiculous but I started dieting at about age 11. It's hard, I know how you feel. Don't be hard on yourself. :)

Mens clothing has the exact same problem, my waist size for pants ranges from a 33-38 depending on brand of jeans.

I sympathize with the obese but I think it is not right for a Christian. We may say 'genes', sometimes it's a 'not so good upbringing' actually maybe almost all the time it is a 'not so good upbringing' therefore hard to place blame solely on an individual. However the back has to stop somewhere. We will all give an account. It is quite hard/ if not impossible to prove or stand on the side of obesity if you go deep into the word of God/the bible.

It is important to mention that I was always skinny when younger and even now I'm just like normal weight but I like to think I'm not biased :)

There are so many reasons for weight problems, both over and under weight.
Don't forger being under weight can be just as bad, it's also possible that a person
can be just the right weight but still starving themselves nutritionally.

How one person can judge another in this matter is beyond me. The story about
taking the plank out of your own eye first comes to mind.

I have a lovely friend who was very over weight and had eating problems and food addictions
for all her adult life. She was brought up by an over bearing mum and while not abused, her
home environment fostered the problems she had with eating, despite her size she is a
spiritual giant compared to many around her. Her love of God, the way God speaks to her,
her insight is just amazing.

Last year she had a gastric bypass and has lost so much weight, it was a difficult process though
which also involved seeing a physiologist about her eating addictions. Medically it was also
challenging. She is now fitter, healthier, her blood pressure is normal, her diabetes has gone.
But do you think God loves her any more? Absolutely not His love is not dependant on our size.

To suggest over weight people are sinning, they must give an account for being over weight,
they are not blessed, they do not know God etc is outrageous and if anything, it reflects more
on the thinking of people who may suggest this. It shows they do not understand God's love,
forgiveness or actually know Him for themselves.

There are so many reasons and problems people have with their body image - don't spread
malicious lies and do Satan's work for him by bringing God into the equation and making out as
if they are condemned for it.

We all have our problems, our external comforts outside of God, individual fears, difficult times etc.
Not to mention medical ones.

It could happen to you, illness, stress, money problems, middle age spread etc.
Don't be so quick to assume you will not be touched by any of the above, because whether you
realise it or not the chances are that at some point in your life you will find yourself
putting on extra pounds and struggle to keep it off. I just hope by that time you will have
grown up a bit and won't feel condemned for putting weight on.

I'm glad your Mom is healthier. I feel fortunate that my Husband has never said anything about my up and down weight. When I decided to have weight loss surgery, he never pushed it, just said, it's up to you.

There is a lot of info out there about health and fitness. Most of it is wrong. When you have a question about a product your best source for information is the manufacturer. That's why I asked God. He explained everything to me. Here is the plain and simple truth:

Our human bodies are machines designed to do work here on earth. They are engineered to adapt to whatever circumstances we put them through. Years of putting the wrong fuel in the engine screws up the system. It's not genetics exactly, but it is reversible for the most part. People think that getting fit will make them healthy. Its actually the other way around. Getting healthy will make them fit. First thing is fix digestion. Second eat right foods for repair and growth. Third, challenge your body with exercise. We were designed for physical labor. God designed it so the people who are most productive will live longest. Believe it or not your body failing is part of God's design for population control. Where nutrition is scarce and environment is hostile or stressful the body dies quicker and testosterone is effected to slow down sex drive and thin population.

Very true.

I mentioned on another thread that gluttony is a very real sin in my life. Four square a day and I'm still raiding the fridge at midnight cause I'm always hungry!

Despite that I weigh less than 150 lbs. After all, I do not drink alcoholic beverages, do not eat wheat, almost always eat sandwiches without any beverages, and eat low calorie foods.

Here's a trick you may want to try in order to lose weight: do not drink any water/beverage for one hour before your meal, during your meal, and for at least two hours thereafter. I have used this "diet" to lose much weight and used it successfully with some of the athletes I trained in sports. It works if water retention is a problem for you (this is a problem women suffer from more often than men do).

I wish everyone well in their quest to put off weight.

I suffered from Anorexia and Bulimia for many, many years until I looked like a skeleton. It almost killed me. It took a medical nutritionist to help me find what works best for me. Now I just eat healthy and maintain a normal weight. I rarely dine out and hardly ever eat fast food. I buy fresh produce and cook/bake everything from scratch, mostly organic ingredients if I can get them. Pre-packaged & over-refined foods literally make me sick. :p
