Just to curtail the amount of pregnancies
to curtail the amount of pregnancies and unwanted pregnancies - yes

A PASTOR said that?? No wonder everyone is living together! It's rotting from the top down.
to curtail the amount of pregnancies and unwanted pregnancies - yes
This isn't a very "comfortable" topic, and in my opinion, that is one of the reasons that many people who call themselves Christians are engaging in sex out of wedlock. The family isn't addressing it. The church isn't addressing it. Where else are they supposed to get it from? School? (that's a joke!).
Yeah, most schools just teach sex, not loving relationships. They show films on how it works, and then hand out condoms so you can practice. Not exactly the idea God had in mind.
Am I the only one who literally feels like (or actually does) cry every time I see the term, "unwanted pregnancies"? Maybe it is just that in my house we had the old-fashioned idea that children were blessings, and my parents loved and "expected" every one of us. I can't bear the idea that there are people out there (good people) who "don't want this pregnancy" I suppose they call it "unwanted pregnancy" because it is too horrible even for them to say "I never wanted this baby to exist or have a chance to live! If I had my way, this soul would never have been conceived!"
Because these days it is all about "safe sex"...uh...did it ever occur to anyone that the REASON sex with multiple partners can be risky is because it wasn't MADE that way?
As far as Christians, there is no such thing as boyfriend, girlfriend, only engaged to be married, which until they are married to not engage in any sexual activity, other than hanging around each other.
There is no such thing as boyfriend, girlfriend, for if not to be engaged to be married, then they have not made a commitment to eventually get married, and know they will get married.
The saints are supposed to have an attitude to each other that it is hands off,and no sexual activity,as the world casually does it,and boyfriend, girlfriend, would imply that there is something going on between the two, that is not a normal relationship as should be between saints, and even kissing, and holding hands, and holding each other, would be wrong.
If they are doing something together as far as closeness, that they would not do with any other saint, then it is wrong, for boyfriend, and girlfriend, does not apply in the saints world, only engaged to be married, which then they should not live together,or kiss, which I do not believe they should even hold hands,or hold each other with that closeness, until they are married.
How can boyfriend, girlfriend, apply, when the only thing God sees as right is marriage, and being engaged, knowing you will be married, why, because it is a commitment between two people,a covenant, which is only valid in God's eyes.
I don't mean to go off topic with this but the last few comments caused me to mention today's news; that some abortion clinics have suspended abortions because of "safety" issues - not terrible safe for the unborn child is it? The following statement was a news statement and not mine: "patients have been sent to alternative clinics for their CARE". I was astounded by the change of wording in order to avoid truth. NO they were sent elsewhere to abort/murder their babies - care doesn't come into it. This is what society does to make things acceptable to the masses. Kind of the same with the sex before marriage issue - calling God's word out of date or void to make living together acceptable.

I'm going to regret saying this, but oh well.
while I I love your view of this and I'd never advocate treating a child like its unwanted...you can't honestly imagine the emotional rollercoaster that comes along with an unplanned pregnancy. I totally understand your point but thee are good people on the side of it too and its easy to not really consider how you're wording things.
More or less, yes.
the general consensus seems to be as long as its a loving and consensual situation its fine. I actually had this conversation, of sorts, with a youth pastor yesterday. His opinion was obviously unmarried people are doing it. As long as no one is living together openly and no one gets pregnant...no big deal.
It's disgusting isn't it? What really bothers me is if you had a cat or dog abortion clinic because you don't want any more pets, the public would go crazy. I'm not saying animal lives aren't important, but what about human beings?

I am late to this conversation BUT, I believe it is because these Christians don't have a true relationship with Jesus. These are your Claim to be a Christians but in reality they don't walk the Christian life. They like the title on Sunday but when it comes down to their real life you don't see anything that resembles a Christian at all. Just my take on it.
