Everyone is going bunkers because sex and stuff is in there... This show is based on the middle ages and historical accurances. This is the way it was in the middle ages! Kingdoms fought one another, some ppl got killed, some ppl went into brothels, some people despise another,... If you can watch ISIS videos and Animal cruelty theres nothing in that show thats worse than any of these things besides that one fight Mountain vs. Viper. And that question ''would you sit on your couch with Jesus and watch this?'' Yeah why not I bet he can teach us a lot from that show. People are making that show worse than it is. Its mainly about multiple kingdoms who want to be on the main throne and they ally and do stuff to become the strongest and make it there. Da hell is wrong with that? People can watch Lord of the Rings but no GOT? Come on

I think there may have been one too many breasts in evidence

as a fine artist, I drew many nudes...male and female...and never thought a thing of it

however, certain people were outraged! sin sin sin shame shame shame (sorry could not resist)

to this day, it means nothing...no one was titillated in the classes; everyone sat there doing their best at anatomy 101

like the pope who went around chopping all the ..ahem..personals off of nude statues, some people seem to think that nakedness is the worse sin there is....gossip, slander and the like kill off more people then forgetting to put underwear under your sheer blouse

I'm just not bothered by it

further, as a photographer and still artist, I can look at a beautiful face...male or female...and all I think of is how I would like to represent it and draw out their personality...do the same with animals

I dunno...I just honestly have enough of it all

Now, as for GoT being ungodly, is an entirely different topic. I tried watching it but couldn't finish the first episode... But then again, that's coming from someone who watches and plays Pokemon...
I wouldn't touch pokemon with a ten foot pole

so there yah go

I'm sure that proves 'something' ;)

Well honesty it doesnt bother me either. We all have a chest and all of us male and female have nipples and I cannot get offended by the way God has created us. I think we are all beautiful and I dont give a dime about nakedness and I dont understand why the catholic teaching is still so stuck in ppls heads. Look at David who ran and danced around nakid all over the place for God. We are formed naked in the womb of our mothers etc. But I guess we are outnumbered lol!

Hi

a Christian friend of mine has been following the HBO series Game of Thrones. So much so that he has bought Game of Thrones Collectors card online and is swapping them with other friends. He is so obsessed! I went round to his house the other day and he was playing the Game of Thrones themed Monopoly set with his younger brother.

I am very concerned for his soul. Leaving aside the glorification of violence and the nudity in the show, I feel like it promotes paganism with its many gods and evil characters. This is, for me a very unchristian show but he doesn't seem to see it as a problem.

Am I worrying too much? Should I just leave him to his entertainment or should I keep trying to convince him? He is 22 years old and his brother (who doesn't watch the show) is 18. Neither of his parents are aware that he watches the show. Should I tell them?
Hmm. Should you go to an adults mommy and daddy and tattle on him that he's watching a bad show? Sure. If you are sick of his friendship and want to offend him.
If you have concern sit down and talk with him as peers. Not talking down to him or threading to go tell his mommy and daddy. Share your concerns without pushing. And let him decide. If you don't like his decision then leave it alone. All you can do is alert someone. But it's their choice t decide what to do after. And it's not your responsibility to try to push, pressure, threaten or harass him into submission. But there's a high probability it won't help because many Christians watch this show, as well as many other shows or movies similar to it.
When is the last movie or show you watched that had violence or nudity or any other sins in it? Unless you don't own a tv and never watch movies I'm guessing it's not been that long ago.

well Europeans have a whole other attitude to nekkedness

hey, where I am from...there were nekked beaches...but I don't show off haha

one weetle thing tho...David wore a linen epod...not quite nekked, but definately not right according to Michael

14 And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. II Sam. 6:14

lest anyone say Christians should dance naked in church....

LOVE that owl gif.... lol

Yeah, I think nudity is highly over-rated.... I figure if anyone sees me naked, they get what they deserve...lol

I'm ok with clothing optional beaches, while my wife is definitely not. It's all in your attitude. While I was in Santa Cruz, there were a couple of beaches that were mostly non-clothed. I never stripped all the way down, but I was not swimming, either... the water is COLD... so I went to doze in the sun.

One of the interesting aspects of the story is how there is a transition going on, from the Old Gods, an animistic religion practiced without rites or texts, passed from generation to generation, to the new gods, who are called The Seven.

Here is a page describing the faith of the seven:
Faith of the Seven - Game of Thrones Wiki - Wikia

The two religions coexisted for about six thousand years with little
antagonism between all but the most passionate of adherents.

Here is a page describing the old gods:
Old Gods of the Forest - Game of Thrones Wiki - Wikia

The Red Woman serves the Lord of Light and she comes across as bloody awful
with her human sacrifices to her one god. Here is a page describing her religion:
R'hllor - Game of Thrones Wiki - Wikia
Huh. You're right, Magenta. I guess I just understood that as part of the vehicle of fantasy storytelling.

Thanks for all the responses to this thread. Really interesting discussions. Just to be clear, it isn't so much the nudity or violence that I have an issue with though those things don't appeal to me. It's more the glorification of paganism that I have a problem with. I am concerned for my friend's soul. I was thinking about telling the parents not in a way that they would chastise him - but in the hope that they would help him to see the light and warn him of the dangers. I thought perhaps he would listen to them more than me.

It's been my experience that up until almost 30yrs of age, kids will take the advice of a perfect stranger or a friend before they listen to their parents... we don't know anything...

So, you might actually have more of an influence (if you approach him in the right way, of course) than his parents.

That's good to know. I thought I was behind the curb when I realized my parents were geniuses about a year ago.

First let me say that I resisted watching this show for a long time because I'm almost always unimpressed by things that have gone viral in mainstream media (lord of the rings, harry potter, superhero movies, twilight, etc...). But one night I decided to give it a chance...

I've watched every single episode! It's the writing that keeps this series interesting. The twists and turns are sometimes genius or extremely satisfying in a liberating sense... Sure there is some gratiutous nakedness and yes they all worship false gods, but that's just part of the authenticity of the 'time period'.. sort of a medieval fantasyland.. They're not trying to put down christianity or prop up some demigod.. christianity isn't even mentioned because it doesn't exist there. Okay okay... that last season with the religious leader may have been interpreted as mocking christianity a bit, but hey its hollywood.. I'd be surprised if they didn't try to work that in somewhere...

On another note... this really isn't something that kids should be watching. Only because it shows how some people can do unspeakable things to their fellow humans without batting an eye, and how some can be very manipulative and evil in order to achieve their goals.. (but I guess you can say that about Disney too...)
