God finished His work and rested on the seventh day. Therefore He hallowed it, and commanded us to honor it. If you feel "released" from that, go right ahead. I am not "released" from the 4th commandment, and I am so very very thankful that I am not "released" from it!
Help!!!, I am in bondage to a day of rest! (sarcasm mine)
HE did choose a specific day
But not all have entered into that specific day which HE set aside as HOLY to HIM[/QUOTE
right, the 7th day Sabbath. we enter it once a week!
100 pages about the Old way of the written code that scripture clearly tells us Christians we are not under, having died to and been released from it, SO THAT, we now serve in the New way of the Spirit.
That's the bottom line folks, and it always will be. There is no getting around it, even though the Judaizers will continually keep trying to find a way.
God chose a specific day to set apart for a sacred use.
People can say everyday is holy if they want, but it defeats the proper use of the word, "holy".
If one is set apart as sacred, it has to be different from the others.
I hope this helps.
Hi Mike my man, let's see if we can come to some kind of agreement here...
we both agree that at creation, God rested on the seventh day, blessed it, and made it holy.
"God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work of creation which he had done."
and I think we can agree that he rested from "all his work of creation".
and that Jesus worked on the sabbath, doing healings and teaching that good work was ok on the sabbath.
here's where we might diverge: Jesus did good works everyday of the week, evil works no day. So as far as working goes, Jesus made no difference concerning the sabbath.
good works, as in healing people, would be for everyday. working on Shabbat to pay for the iphone is not the same.

so, we're still agreeing, here...
working for an iphone is never ok if the iphone is to gratify a person's lusts.
working at the job God has given you to buy an iphone because it's a required part of the ministry God has called you to, that would be ok on everyday of the week...
do we agree there?
(note: I can't think of a ministry that would require an iphone, but *if* it did)
I don't make the rules for Sabbath. Many people have tried to do that. God says no servile work on the Sabbath. It should be a day to honor God.
(I know, I know, people will say "We honor God every day". I'm sure.

what's servile work?

Romans 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
In the end....does it come down to what 'man esteemes right or what GOD wants ? Shall we get into His Kingdom if we are not in agreement with Him ?
If one believes salvation depends on esteeming the correct day out of seven days, I suppose not. But Paul said such a one was fallen from grace.
Whichever way you put it GOD has already told us which day HE esteems !
As usual Paul is misunderstood, his aim was to 'follow Christ....who obeyed His Father.

What was Jesus' attitude toward the Sabbath?
"The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath." (Mark 2:27)
