I have 21+ versions of the Bible available at the click of my mouse or the touch of a screen. I'm able to compare scriptures in each of them with a click or touch. I have 27+ commentaries available in the same manor. I also have 14+ dictionaries available to me. Finally I have a large library of maps and books available. Again, I can analyze a scripture using any of these resources with the click of a mouse or touch of a screen.

I say all of this to bring to an end this discussion of which version is better. When someone brings up a controversial interpretation of a scripture, I can use my easily available resources, along with prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to find out what God is saying to me in the scripture.

If you like the KJV and believe that it is the inspired (it is) word of God, use it. If you choose a different version and believe it is the inspired (again it is) word of God, use it. If you want to understand what the scriptures are actually saying, you are going to have to dig into every resource available to you and spend many hours of prayer while studying them.

If you are searching the scriptures for salvation, I suggest that you began a discussion with a trusted Christian friend, or the pastor of a local church. When you find salvation through Jesus Christ, the scriptures will take on an entirely different meaning than they did before.

The above is MHO.

My brain just exploded. That's more rational thought in one place than should be allowed.

No sir, peeps like you that damn the rest of the Body for using other Translations have, in fact, turned the Bible into an idol, because it is the version that you worship and not the truth found inside.

If you claim the absolute word of truth is only found in the KJV because other versions are not true, then you have made the KJV Bible a god unto yourself. You are worshiping a version and not what is contained inside, therefore you have made the KJV a god and God himself said their are no other gods before me.

Now go run along now and spread discord and strife with your Buddy Jack Chick and keep on spreading the message of hate because nobody is as spiritually connected as you are because of Bible version.

Jesus is not going to judge you based on how many people you converted to the KJV, he is going to judge you based on how many you converted to the WORD!
The accusation of hate, book worship is not even true. Anyone who loves the Lord, love His words. If you really wanted to search out without bias, you will know that truth is still true and the truth of the matter is Satan wanted to put doubt of God's words, diminish it, and even destroy it. Bible believers believe in the words of God preserved pure or keep unto this day. So history tell us, the working of Satan is behind the perversions of His words. I believe it you are a true Christian so we must be able to discern what is true and what is false.

God bless you

In other words man (you) are the final authority on what God has said. It all comes down to final authority of God's word. If you don't like the way this version says it, then you'll go with another one. etc..

The same Scripture you're trusting to be right about your salvation, don't you want it to be right, every word, about every thing else? It's more than just a message of salvation. It's...what is truth?

You are doing the same thing. You (man) are the final authority on what translation is the only one good.

Because God never said "KJV is the only English Bible for Americans".

Satan wanted to put doubt of God's words, diminish it, and even destroy it.
so what are you doing when you say literally everyone on earth who ever heard of Jesus Christ through any source other than the wording in the KJV translation did not receive the Word of God, because only in that translation are the real words of God found?

ain't you spreading doubt?

On the other hand if the Spirit is real, and the Word is alive, quick and powerful, we have that "blessed assurance"

praise God for the truth, without which no man could see!

On my walk today I was talking to God and the subject of the king james only group popped up, now I have read it and while old english gives it a sense of uniqueness I asked God why the king james only group believe their bibles are the only true bible and others arent, then I remembered one of these people telling me it's because the kj is the closest to the original scriptures written I know the OT was in hebrew and I think the NT was in greek but even if the kj is the closest to the original script it still isn't the original is it?

Is there another reason for kj only people to believe their version is the only true word of God? I am just trying to understand the reason behind this
Emotions and heart. If you grow in the Lord getting revelation and encouragement through
a particular source, that becomes the source.

Their heart sings, and meaning flows when they hear the words. It will also be linked to the
churches and people they have met.

I sometimes wonder how people can listen to people who convey such a deep feeling of love
and acceptance yet can be totally wrong. Because feelings are the current summary of ones
appreciation of someone or a group idea, but it does not mean it is right.

There are many born again christians who are ex-muslims who still love and feel for the Koran
and its context in the culture. They know it is flawed, but the emotions still flow.

I'm trusting in God as He promised to preserve His words for all generations. I believe that His words are found preserved in the English language in the KJV. If not the KJV, then where? Has God preserved His words for us?

yea. he has preserved his word in the KJV. also in the new kjv, the modern language translation, the new ameriacn standard bible........ I could go on. God's word is timeless, and can be translated into any language. God's word is not limited to a antiquated language,

Not when they contain different words and teachings. Words are important to God. That's why the promise was to preserve His words, plural, for all generations. I believe God preserved His words, plural, in the English language in the KJV. The KJV is at odds with all the new versions including the NKJV.

You still haven't responded to my question about revisions of the KJV. Which one is the alleged anointed revision? Your assertion that the words are different and therefore cannot be the words of God applies to the KJV as well. Even if you hold only to the original 1611 version, you are faced with the awkward fact that it contained marginal notes. You've put yourself in a very tight logical box, and have given yourself no way out.

Do you realize that I can say the same only with changing KJV for NIV, ESB, HSBC etc?

So in the end you (man) are the final authority to say - its KJV! God did not say it.

Also, realize that the verse is saying "for all generations", not "for all languages". There is no reason to think some specific English translation must be perfect.

The first wide spread printed Bible, printed in English, and for the population was the Geneva Bible in 1599. It came 12 years before the 1611 KJV.

King Jimmy asked for the 1611 Bible and his own version to justify his absolute abominable sin filled character.
There are some that believe he enlisted the help of William Shakespeare to add words they could not translate from the original texts to keep the King from looking as evil as he was and more Stately.

I discern good and evil through the exercise of my senses through the meat of the Word and the revelation knowledge given to me by Holy Spirit, not the KJV Bible.

Your just fear mongering and placing people in condemnation, Romans 8.1 competently refutes all of KJV only crowd.

Your idol worshiping because you place your faith in the version you have not the Word of God.

Romans 10.17 says that Faith comes by hearing and hearing the words of Christ

not

Faith comes by reading English and reading the words of the English KJV

Your whole cult movement is simply another Christian rodeo with clowns, that needs no more attention given to it.

Actually it says "so then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

Where is the word of God? God promised to preserve His pure and holy words for us. Where are they? In the ESV? NKJV? NASB? You realize they contain different words. Words are important to God.

I bet you also believe that the word, word in this verse means the Bible....Right?

TO which I will tell you it means no such thing, because when Paul was writing to the Romans they had no complete Bible in their day.

The Word in most of the NT means Christ, because The Word was made flesh.

So it is properly rendered that faith comes buy hearing and hearing by the words of Christ.

To suggest that the word in the NT means the modern day Bible is just another swerve that false teachers like Jack Chick and his KJ only fanatics use to keep the distorted communicated Bible knowledge they push as truth.

Nope, they had the word, the truth of the gospel. Paul gave it to them. Do you see? With no final authority on what God has said, then man can make up his own rendering of the words of God. Of course they didn't have the rest of Scripture. I'm not making that statement.

Let me ask you, what are you putting your faith in for salvation? The words of God or the Savior of the words of God?

Words are important to God.
I'm not sure where you received that divine inspiration, but I believe that concepts and principles are more important than the actual WORD used.

Like someone mentioned earlier, you can use several different words to get across the same message...
Stop walking...
Quit walking...
Walk no more...
Cease your walking...

Your insistence that the KJV is somehow "ordained" by God is ludicrous.

You are worshipping at the altar of the KJV... a book.. instead of thanking God that His words have been made available to people of all languages and education levels.

I propose to you that a semi-illiterate person, trying to read the KJV today, would likely NOT understand the gospel, and would NOT be moved to repent. They simply couldn't understand the archaic terminology.

If they were to read a thought-for-thought translation, in the current vernacular, the likelihood of understanding and a change of heart are exponentially higher. And that's what we are to be about...telling others the good news.
