Why is it always "flat earth"? Why doesn't someone bring up a "we're living in a matrix" topic? At least with a matrix argument, we could talk about matter and time reaching a non-divisible limit and how that "proves" existence is a digital simulation. I guess I'm just looking for some variety in the trolling topics around here.
first of all, you're totally abusing vocabulary here. an "event horizon" is the radius from the center of a black hole at which the gravitational force is so strong, and space so curved by it, that light cannot pass by the hole at this point; it is curved into the hole and cannot escape.
if you think that has something to do with the horizon of a persons visual field.. ???
what, is the earth peppered with black holes? lol, other flat earth cultists try to tell me that gravity doesn't even exist. because their model makes wild predictions about gravity ((easily testable)) that in no way whatsoever line up with reality. but that's another conversation.
but second: why?
why should the horizon - the distance that can be seen, with or without the aid of magnification - for an observer on a flat plane be limited in any way whatsoever?
this does not depend on the "size" of an object at all. the very concept of horizon arises only from a curved surface. in the absence of obstruction, nothing prevents light from travelling across a plane from any point on that plane to an observer anywhere on the plane. you said so yourself: that if you go up to a height from which the view is no longer obstructed, you should be able to see the entire earth from any point on a flat earth.
but now you're trying to have it both ways.

The Event Horizon of a setting /rising sun is a point of no return. It either is rising or it is not. It either is setting or it is not.
I used the term to define the exact (time period) which the sun was setting or rising. That would correspond to our sight horizon and what we normally see daily.
Look I am sorry you try to twist my words. I know that fundamentalist(s) are in the Christian minority. Again, if you want to discuss any verses of the Bible I will be happy to do that but I will no longer respond to your scientific knowledge that apparently overrides not only the Holy Bible but God Himself and tries to belittle me.

no. no it wouldn't, not at all.
if the earth is flat earth there is no such thing as an horizon. as you said yourself, you should be able to see the whole earth from any point. just get up into a tall tree or mountain. the only thing that prevents you from seeing anything on the whole earth is other mountains in the way.
"horizon" is a word that describes the limiting viewable distance owing to the curvature of the earth we live on. it has zero to do with black holes.
this flat earth nonsense has nothing whatsoever to do with fundamentalism.
the church has never believed the earth is flat. the Bible does not teach that it is flat.
you are not being "persecuted" -- you are being rebuked and corrected by someone who has greater knowledge and understanding, if not much tact or gentleness, because you have been greatly deceived and manipulated.
