I don't think Jesus would only just roll his eyes lol. He'd most likely turn the game off completely. I personally can't play those killing games like I did in the past my spirit wont allow me to.
Actually its a survival horror meaning your trying not to die. But yeah I understand what you're saying. In the same way, Horror movies that I once watched now make me uncomfortable since I became born again.

For the Christians who come to talk about how playing video games arent the best way to spend your time, I cant help but wonder, how much time do you spend in front of a tv screen, or in front of your computer watching youtube videos?

Its not that I completely disagree, as I believe that His will is not for us to buy up treasures and love the things of this world. But at the same time, I think its silly to come and tell people that the things they do to entertain themselves needs to change when its no different from the things you do yourself : p Instead of telling those who like video games they should change, we can instead make a productive thread on how we can all make a change. That way it doesnt look as if one person is putting themselves on a higher level for not doing this one thing themselves.

Oh and survival horror games, I just recently got into them earlier this year with the first RE game. It was fun, though I too often found myself stuck not knowing what to do next : p May restart it all over again and make a new file one day.

I played RE 4 as well, and while it was fun, it was totally mindless action : p

I definitely prefer the first one, I had more fun with it : p

I prefer RE4. The controls on the games prior to that were too clunky. The controls on RE4 were nice and smooth and its probably the only third person shooter I'll ever play.

Oh, Ive actually heard that RE3 was bad, but I really want to try it : p I hope to one day have RE1,2,3 and Code Veronica for Gamecube, though it would cost a bit : p

Oh and Monnkai, if you like 3rd person shooter games, you should totally try Winback for either N64 or PS2, its my all time favorite 3rd person shooter, its not real well known but its great : p

And I understand the movement thing, the tank controls in RE can be difficult when you first try it. After a while it becomes second nature to you though : p I felt like RE1 had more substance, where RE4 was fun, it was more of an action thingy that youd play for a bit for the fast paced gameplay but wouldnt touch again afterwards : p

Am I the only that would play video games with Jesus? I'm thinking Mario Kart tbh.
Can you imagine? lol
It's okay to have fun and enjoy things you like to do and not be super serious all the time.
*makes super serious face*

I love the old Resident Evil games. Also love the Metal Gear Solid games. Haven't played Ground Zeroes or Phantom Pain yet, though.

I will check that out! I take it back Megaman Legends 2 was a third person shooter and I played the heck outta that. Code Veronica is expensive. I hear it was good though.

Ehm, NO.. That's a pretty lousy reason to play a game that has corpses in it. :/ Ask yourself this: if Jesus sat beside you while you played this game, would HE play it also? Or would he say, "turn off that frivolous nonsense game and visit with Me."
I don't know if Jesus is a baseball or college football fan. I dont know if he would sit on the couch next to me and have a beer while going back and forth between said games.. So would Jesus play a game? I don't know. You could ask would He do just about anything that we would do. Would He drive a car? Watch a movie on Netflix? Talk on the phone? These questions aren't any different than what you asked.

As you all know I'm a big gamer and I play older systems. But there are a few games I'm looking forward too. Like Corpse Party back to School edition and Pokemon Moon. Are there any games any of you are looking forward to?
It's not a video game, but I enjoy my APBA computer baseball game.

For the Christians who come to talk about how playing video games arent the best way to spend your time, I cant help but wonder, how much time do you spend in front of a tv screen, or in front of your computer watching youtube videos?
No one’s claiming to be perfect, but when you know better you do better. If you’re going to claim to be a christian, there are beliefs and practices that you leave behind as part of your new life, not your former life style. As I grew in my walk with Jesus, as I studied the word, I came to see that things like not doing drugs, not looking after my health, not sleeping together before marriage, films I don’t watch, books I don’t read, not following the 10 commandments, not encompassing the fruits of the spirit were all things I had to make a commitment to developing and practicing because they’re in line with the word of God. One of those is games that don’t exemplify Jesus, rather, has all kinds of things that is not of God in the messages they postulate. It's not so much a timing issue as it is a content one.

I think its silly to come and tell people that the things they do to entertain themselves needs to change when its no different from the things you do yourself : p That way it doesnt look as if one person is putting themselves on a higher level for not doing this one thing themselves.
To use your example, I’d rather spend too much watching videos that don’t contradict the christian ethos than entertain myself with games that absolutely do. There’s a distinction there that you’ve missed. “oh well if you spent too much time reading today then using tarot cards/following Buddha is totally fine because I consider that entertainment”. If it’s not inline with God’s word as the substance in so many games are, then that needs to be left behind totally as part of your Christian walk.

To try and justify them by saying “you spent too much time today reading christian books/exercising today – that’s your entertainment - so I’m going to play all these games today that don’t glorify God at all because that’s my entertainment!” is not a comparison to be made. It’s the wrong analogy. If you believe that kind of activity you’re engaging in doesn’t contradict the Christian ethos, then that’s your decision, God speed. I don’t believe those activities i.e, many of those games, are in line with God’s word. Just like all those who claim to be Christian, we’re not perfect, God is far from finished with us, but where and when we know better we strive to do so according to the word of Christ. That’s inclusive of those calibre of games, that after much study and prayer, I can't take part in. That’s not putting myself ‘on a higher level’ that’s my own personal choice according to what resonates with me as the right thing to do.
