With the larger cities in Texas (San Antonio, Austin, Houston, Dallas) becoming more Blue, do you envision Texas becoming a swing state in the next 8-12 years? If so, what does this look like for the GOP's political landscape in the next decade? How do they stop this bleeding?

I'm going to have to bookmark this for post Nov. 8th. My answer will partially depend on how they vote and how the country votes.

For most of it's History, Texas voted for and was run by Democrats. When the Socialist Liberals began to seize control of the Democrat Party (late 60's), the citizens of Texas began to defect from the Democrats and vote Republican.

A Texas Republican is not what folks normally consider a Republican to be. They are Socially Conservative.......God, family, Country, but more liberal in Business Policies.

Classic case in point is the Bush Family. In truth, they are more Blue Dog Democrat than Republican, and more Centrist than Conservative. Now, to be sure, there are Strongholds of far left Liberals in the larger Cities.........Houston classic example, and there are Strongholds of ultra-Conservatives as well.

It's a big State, with many different leanings............and while they once were staunch supporters of God, Family, Country, even that is beginning to slip away. Soon, Texas will be a Brown State, and as to which way it leans Politically, we will have to wait and see.

Texas is much like Florida. The liberals are leaving the northern cities to escape the hazards of liberalism, but can't leave the liberalism behind. In ten years both states will be blue. Georgia and Alabama aren't far behind.

For all practical purposes, the Republican party is dead.
This election has split and splintered it so much that it will never mend.
I am afraid that our only hope of not being RULED by liberal Democrats for a generation is the return of our Lord.

I see these dumb t-shirts everywhere that has a skeleton grasping a confederate battle flag that says " The south shall rise again."

I guess they were right. The democrats are taking over the whole country.

I can see the Democrats being the same as today, but the Republicans splitting into two or more minor parties.

The Republicans splitting up is what happens when they re-elect terrorist Bush and choose to stay home with Romney because he's a Mormon. Their solution to restoring the Republican party is to elect an incestuous adulterer who would rather verbally attack the other half rather than unify with them.

A great leader unifies, not divides. Cut the cancers out (the Bush family amongst other evil "Republicans") and unify the base.

There are, they just aren't as "flashy", controversial, and loud as Trump. Flashy automatically equates to "better" in the ignorant minds of people. The odds of getting the nomination is better for an infamous obnoxious candidate than a relatively unknown and quiet candidate.

Trumps major problem is not necessarily his politics, or lack thereof, but his narcissistic temperament. His policies can be governed by his advisors, but his meltdowns are beyond repair. Countries like China, known for being extremely patient, will easily be waiting him out if there is a conflict, and he will, inevitability make mistakes because he lacks patience. This may can cause damage to our position in eastern Asia. Also, by his displaying of poor discernment over years, will make his foreign adversaries gain momentum. I fear an even weaker foreign policy than our current man in the White House has been able to make.
