My 9 year old nephew was laughed at and ask if he was a farmer by this snooty little girl because he didn't understand why she had an intercom in her bedroom to call her mom if she was in a different room.... she turned her nose up and said what are you a farmer or something?


Not too sure what being a farmer had to do with anything. .but I assume it was meant as an insult lol
 
Moms who think they're a better parent because their child can speak a second language.
 
I dislike the pretention of anyone who considers occupation or income as a filter for acceptability. However, in saying that I also am convicted for my own tendency to disregard rich people because I'm not one of them.

I don't know how he did it to know everything, but he did. It was honestly kinda scary...and annoying because he always had the best grades and would even correct the professors sometimes. lol

Lol! The most pretentious dish ever.

The most pretentious brands of everything specially in fashion are the ones you can hardly pronounce. And I just don't know the reason behind it.

I know that sounds strange, but I live on the farm we are building, I play in the dirt all day, I play with the dogs while training them, and I currently sleep in a garage (complete with a concrete floor and a HUGE garage door next to my futon) until we finish the house, so wearing perfume just seems like something I would do only when trying to impress someone. I think it depends on how much perfume is being used. As somebody said one time, perfume should be discovered, not announced.

Those places make me laugh. I go to similar ones on business lunches (company paid). They try to make a french fry sound like a delicacy. LOL
 
A walk with too much swagger. I've seen too much of that and I must admit that some gaits are simply a marvel of mechanics.
I always tell my brother that if he ever sees me walking with any strange gait he MUST smack me.

During my undergrad I worked in the credit card department for a major bank and I can tell you from experience that what your parents said about people living the high life on credit is very, very true.

The majority of the people who I would speak to were spending hundreds of dollars a month shopping at expensive stores and resturaunts, yet only make a minimum payment. They would then call to complain that their balance was never going down. And then there were other customers who would transfer thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars of credit card debt from one card to another based on which card was offering 0% interest promotions. It was crazy.

Yup. That kind of pretense has led to many a ruined life. Trying to keep up with the Joneses when the Joneses are broke.
 
I remember a short story entitled The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant. It's about a pretentious but poor french woman who was invited to a party and worried what would she wear. She borrowed a diamond necklace from a rich friend but she lost it. She loaned a big amount of money so she can buy a replacement. She worked hard for 10 years to pay off the debt. After 10 years she saw her rich friend and her friend was surprised how she aged a lot in 10 years. She explained that she was so stressed paying off the debt for the replacement necklace. Then her friend told her that diamond necklace she borrowed was a fake and was very cheap.

I've had the reverse experience. I purposely never went out and got an iphone and just use a prepaid flip phone instead for emergency's. When I pulled it out at work the other day, a colleague said to me "you STILL have one of those" lol I'm sure she meant nothing negative but it gave me a good giggle.

I remember this story! I was always so frustrated that she never confessed her mistake to her friend.
