Exactly what are we celebrating during this pagan holiday? I know Halloween is the night that evil is pretty much worshipped, I really don't see the difference between Halloween and any other day. But growing up I was taught that we celebrate Halloween as Harvest. Please feel free to share your thoughts on halloween. How is your guys halloween/harvest going? I'm going to be heading to a block party myself tonight amongst other things, don't get me wrong but, a good friend of mines band will be performing and I'll be there to show my support more than anything. Just wondering what how everyone spends there night?

The whole idea that halloween is to celebrate evil and worship it and all, is false. That's a man made idea, it's a very common misconception. Halloween, or Harvest as it was originally called, has a good purpose. It's to celebrate the end of summer, and beginning of fall/winter. The beautiful leaves falling all around, the trees changing colors, pumpkins, corn, etc. is for color. I personally love the colors of it all, it's amazing, like God's beauty all around us. His creations. My little niece and I, painted our faces, okay I did the painting, anyways....we had the rainbow colors for a reason. We were ''God's promise/covinent'' that was made with Noah. From the great flood. How God said He would never destroy the world again with a great flood and all. Also, we did it in a manner that we looked like warriors in a way, as we're God's warriors.Fighting for Him and His word. We had a blue cross in the middle of the forehead as a symbol of how we live for Jesus. Red comming down from our eyes like tears, from Jesus' blood having to be shed. So many differnet things, and with meaning. I'm not going all out, I don't see the point in it. However we did that, and carved a pumpkin, to celebrate harvest, from summer to fall and winter. Quality time to be cherished that was spent with my only niece, the angel God used to touch and change me so much.

I say, so long as you aren't celebrating or worshipping the dead, or false gods, etc. you're fine. No evil is intended, so it's not an issue. There's so many man made things in the world it's crazy. Allow God to speak to each one, and if they feel convicted of something, then whatever happens. They and God can deal with it, other wise, if they don't feel convicted of whatever they're doing, then I suppose God's okay with it eh. Ah well, just my thoughts.

I encourage you to read up on the history of halloween. If you don't trust internet sources, then I would recommend a university/college library.

I wouldn't say "it's not an issue" but I would say if you are celebrating with thanksgiving and praise to God in your heart, then keep to it. But should you forget to do it and feel guilty for forgetting, then I would encourage that person to revisit the scriptures.

There are a lot of threads around the forums already on this very topic. I think most people are just worn out and beat from answering to each and every one of them. If you would like other people's points of views or some detailed "discussions," then I recommend you to peruse those threads.

I have read up on it. Also, that was my point, so long as you're giving thanks and all to God, and not doig evil and all that, you're fine. As I said though, let God deal with each person, if He convicts them, then they know they did wrong and learn from it. If He doesn't convict them, then what they did wasn't wrong. Besides, this is an ''opinion'' based thing...so what some know as facts and right, some may not know. Either way, I won't argue this so that's all I have to say about it, God bless.

I have to politely disagree.

I've been up all night due to various life issues...

And Lynx's prank is the only thing that's made me smile this morning.

Lynx, you're a nut, but you're my kind of nut. :)

Thanks for cheering me up in a difficult time. :D

Oh, I've seen it, Zero.

That's part of what made it so dang funny. :D

Maybe it's also because I'm not here all the time... So when I get to check in and see something like this, instead of arguments... It just makes me smile. :)

Of course... I guess one could argue that now there will be arguments about Lynx's joke... But hey, it was nice for the 5.8 seconds it lasted. :p

Oh not again a halloween thread. If you wanna know the pros and cons. why yes and why no. Go to the other thread. Its all discussed there. I could start getting very angry when I read this bollocks like''The whole idea that halloween is to celebrate evil and worship it and all, is false.''
Its root is from evil and it will not change through Christanising. Nor is worshipping ANY day okay. Id you have no idea about something please
''Its man made''
yes its man made. another point
''originally celebrated the harvest''
that started with the pegans as well ON THAT DAY and the jews took that day in as well when the Baal temples were brought back in israel. Originally they celebrate it a different day according to their 2 main rains.

who feels to celebrate, go celebrate jeesh. why must there be such a shakespeare drama around here

That was an integral part of the joke. It was a meta joke, you see, zombie threads about halloween coming out of their graves all over the forum.

Yes but it's only going to incite further controversy from those who are trying to shove their pagan holiday opinions down our throats. And then those of us who DO observe halloween get called evil and demon-possessed. :/ I have a name for the ones who are acting all holier than thou on the subject of pagan holidays: "Halloween hypocrits."
