You're making my point Zeek, without existence of the law, sin doesn't exist. But we know we still sin. Everyone here says it. If God's law expired then sin expired right?

1 John3:4
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

NO!

Sin exists regardless of there being Law or not. How on earth did Adam sin?????????????????????????????????????????

Well...the very first command given to Adam by God was "law" because God said a "thou shall not...", you know?

And even this law was for specific two humans and for a specific period of time.... The same with Jewish Law.

...I'm not sure we can say it was exclusive to just them because the consequences applied to ALL mankind after that because we were in Adam.

1 Corinthians 15:22
For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

Well, you can eat from whatever tree you like. The consequence of their disobedience does not imply we are still under that law. We are under the consequence of their specific disobedience.

Well...outwardly, we are pretty good at not doing it. It's inwardly, in spirit, where my problem was. I found it easy to not shoot or stab anyone. I found it impossible to never be angry at or resent anyone.

Right, the Law didn't stop it, it only made you aware of your sin and the reality that you were a sinner......thereby leading you to Christ as the only solution to you.

??? Eh??

....What's a priest of God supposed to do??

---

We're getting lost in the weeds right now aren't we?

We, as Christians, are also priests of God, that does not mean we are priests for the world.

BTW, if Law is still valid, are we priests or Jews are priests? Or does God have two priestshoods?

If the law expired, wouldn't it mean that "sin" (which is the breaking of said law) no longer exists? If the law expired wouldn't it mean no one can possibly sin anymore no matter what they do?

Also, how can someone possibly place themselves back "under the law" - in an attempt to justify themselves - if it no longer exists?

..See what I'm getting at? Doesn't the whole thing collapses on itself if the law expired?

I agree with this...the law has not died ..it is still here for the unrighteous.

Romans 7:4-6 (NASB)
[SUP]4 [/SUP] Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.

[SUP]5 [/SUP] For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death.

[SUP]6 [/SUP] But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.

It is the Christian that has died to the law because we were crucified with Christ. We are not in the flesh anymore but in the Spirit. The old man has been crucified with Christ and now we are a new creation - created in righteousness and holiness.

The law now for the Christian has no place but to see Jesus in the law and that He fulfilled it. We live now by the newness of the Spirit which compels us to walk in love which happens to be the fulfillment of the law. Go figure...:)

It is almost as if God knew what He was doing.....;)

Nope. That's not the Law. There was a time before the Law, and there is a time after the Law for those who are in Christ and under His grace.

For when the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed also.
Hebrews 7:12

And the priesthood has changed. Therefore law has changed too.

It may be a good thread to start to discuss whether every *command* out of God's mouth is "law" by consequence.

- Sin is transgression of God's law..

- The wage of (or price to pay for) sin is death..

- God said "do not eat" of the forbidden tree...

- They disobeyed...they sinned...removal from the tree of life...all mankind die

- Again sin is transgression of God's law..

- And again the wage of (or price to pay for) sin is death..

- All mankind was condemned to death because of Adam's sin...

- Enters Christ to save all mankind from sin by dying on cross.

Correct, the law didn't stop it. And although there were men who thought they were obeying it, they were only obeying it outwardly, but God looks at the heart and demands truth in the inward parts. In fact, Jesus made me see that the law was much more holy than I originally thought. Not only must I not murder outwardly but now I must not even do it inwardly. Yet the harder I tried to stop murdering in spirit, the worse it became for me. So simply choosing to not murder wasn't working. Even despite the love He showed me in dying for me, I still couldn't stop being angry and resentful when someone treated me bad. I desperately wanted to stop murdering but I couldn't. So is the solution to say I have been freed from the law that commands that I must not murder? Is the solution to say that there is now no more demand from God that I not murder?

The law is for the ungodly - those that are still in the flesh and not in the Spirit - those NOT in Christ. The ungodly is a state of being as is the righteous are in a state of being in Christ. We are called "saints" because we are in Christ.

1 Timothy 1:5-9 (NASB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

[SUP]6 [/SUP] For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion,

[SUP]7 [/SUP] wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.

[SUP]8 [/SUP] But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully,

[SUP]9 [/SUP] realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers

Amen.....we have "a new law" now in the New Covenant.....

Those in Christ live now by the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus, the law of love, the law of liberty, the law of faith ( the law is NOT of faith ) all of which is the law of Christ - Himself inside of us bearing His fruit in our lives of which love comes first.

Commands, yes. "The Law", nope.
