Is Sunday, only a rest day?

I think its OK, because Sunday is not some kind of "new Sabbath". So the Sabbath rest command does not apply to a Christian Sunday.
Note: if you are a Roman Catholic, they have a different view. They think it is a sin.
Thanks, I got confused because of the Sabbath post about rest on the seventh day. Whether we should follow it if we feel it's right to improve ourselves etc.

Just one thing can't worship the Sun as a God on Sunday, err I mean what do I mean it's called Sunday which was named after a pagan religion that worship objects in the solar system. Go figure lol...
I do not know about any teaching of Christ about keeping the rest. Even during a Jewish Sabbaths He had many conflicts with Jews about it.
I also do not know about any command in the whole New Testament about keeping any specific day rest.
But if you want something really clear and explicit, you can use what the apostle Paul said in his letter:
"One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind."
(Rom 14:5)
You are free to choose if you will keep some specific day special or not.
I was also wondering, do you know if the Jewish days of seven are positioned the same as the British, historically. Meaning, is their seventh day a Sunday, or a Tuesday, not in sync, originally? As the Chinese system is totally different, thought this may be, maybe? A bit daft, we probably followed theirs.

There's a few different days in week around the world being used, some use Sunday as the first day, but others use Monday or Tuesday. The point being the days as they are called today aren't mentioned in the bible for they are pagan names but do people use pagan names to determine where the first day begins yes just ask anybody what day it is, just another reason why the Sabbath is still yet to come.

Indeed more proper than to say Sabbath, now there's not much we can do about names of the days but to go with the flow of the names that have been attached to days, for our whole social structure has been built around the names of a week. It would be hard to work around that in modern terms.
Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and give to God what belongs to God.
We all need a day of rest each week. That doesn't mean you have to lie down all day. It's okay to deal with emergencies. The Lord wants you to enjoy your day off. I go to church on Sunday morning, get something to eat at El Pollo Loco, watch some football or golf, post here on Christian Chat and Facebook, play my APBA computer baseball game - just restful activities that I enjoy.
I'm fairly sure that the Jewish people have kept the Sabbath correctly from Moses to Jesus and from Jesus to today. If they have a whole nation of people keeping the seventh day every week, It would be hard to get mixed up or loss a day.
Isn't it interesting that the 7 day week has it's origins in the creation week and throughout time no one has successfully changed it and today 6000 years later the whole world still follows the creation week cycle.
Take a look at the calendar on your computer and it will most likely show Saturday as the 7th day of the week before starting over on the next line.
A Few things to Consider:
Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
This was before sin so had nothing to do with shadows or types of salvation.
and a question, Does God blessing or sanctifying mean anything or does it amount to nothing?

I know of no Scripture that tells us to treat Sunday any different than any other day.
But it seems that the churches chose to assemble on the first day of the week and most do that today.
Personally, I use Sunday as a day of rest and family. I assemble with my local church on Sunday morning and again on Sunday evening.
I stay away from activities that force other people to work on Sunday and not enjoy the same enjoyment of family and attending church services.
We never go to town to eat or shop on Sunday.
Sunday is not set aside for any special reason but the 7th day was before sin entered.

God made the Sabbath for man, it was a gift for us.
Mar 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

A primitive root; to be (causatively make, pronounce or observe as) clean (ceremonially or morally): - appoint, bid, consecrate, dedicate, defile, hallow, (be, keep) holy (-er, place), keep, prepare, proclaim, purify, sanctify (-ied one, self), X wholly.

Sunday is ok simply because it was not the original Sabbath. (Saturday was).
Having said that, although we are not under the LAW, one should take the time to worship our Lord on at least one day in seven. As for working on that day it is hard to completely stop working since any action except worship could be considered work. (i.e. working a farm, it is hard to stop working altogether. It seems the animals have a mind and schedule of their own. )
