Is Sunday, only a rest day?

Even If you are doing an activity,Its OK because your rest Is spiritual In JESUS although Its true that the body needs physical rest,a person can be laying down resting their body and be worried bad about something,but rest In JESUS In the spiritual sense.

JESUS said the words he spoke were Spirit and they are Life.
 
Here's an interesting thing. Did God create the world in 6 days then have Sunday or
a sabbath day off because he was tired. :) Did God need a day of rest?

I think its a good principle to have a day of rest and meet together as a church etc
though to be honest one person's day or rest can be as busy as another person's Monday
morning! Medical staff, pastors, carers, patents, farmers, people who work on power stations
who keep the electric on 24/7, people who work in petrol stations along motorways which are
required to stay open 24/7 in the U.K. Plus numerous other examples.

Ps I forgot to add the sabbath wasn't made for God, it was made for man.
We should therefore cherish it and use it wisely but depending on circumstances
this day will be different for different people.

Its also symbolic of us resting from works and resting/trusting in God's grace and mercy
for those who have a true relationship with God.

[8] For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken
of another day. [9] There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. [10]
For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God
did from His.
 
I would suggest the confusion comes in when the paraphrases translated the word “rest” (sabbaton) which is not time sensitive word into one called "week" that is time sensitive .The word week substituted the word rest. There really is no connection when looking at the word.

There was no word for week it was added to make some sense to the paraphrasers theology. It is an improper transliteration. It is also shown by changing the plural word Sabbaths into a singular form......Sabbath

Mat 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre..... KJV

28 And on the eve of the sabbaths, at the dawn, toward the first of the sabbaths, came Mary the Magdalene, and the other Mary, to see the sepulchre,.... Youngs literal translation

Towards the first of the Sabbaths is introducing the new era of Sabbaths following the end of the Sabbaths because of the first century reformation. This is when the Lord of the Sabbaths declared it is finished, the veil was rent. The government was restored to another time period. The first day ....”let there be light” in respect to the new creation, as children of light .

But if you want something really clear and explicit, you can use what the apostle Paul said in his letter:

You are free to choose if you will keep some specific day special or not.

Paul did not say we are free to choose any day. Paul said that was something some people were doing !
and then he said : but be you followers of me as I also follow Christ !!! THAT is the REAL message from Paul, but people reject it to their own hurt.

I look at that as a rest from our normal work (6 days) needed to maintain these bodies of death. Not to do nothing but more of a opportunity to present the gospel, the true fast as that which the disciples could not cast out in regard to unclean spirit because of their false idea of what a fast is.

When he sent them out two by two on a Sabbath like in Mark 6 below they did have the power over unclean spirits as they offered the bread of the gospel drawing out their soul to the hungry, hoping to satisfy the humbled soul; In a hope of covering their nakedness and therefore being clothed as us with Christ our righteousness

Mar 6:7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

While in the eyes of some Sunday is no different, I'm glad our nation kept Sunday traditionally special because otherwise everybody would be working 7 days a week, with no special time for worship at all. Tradition DOES have its place, just not as some want to push it..

This may have been true at one time years ago but no longer holds true in todays 24/7/365 environment.

Point of interest, the Levitical priests did twice as many sacrifices on the Sabbath as any other day of the week.
 
I think that for those who feel the need to keep the sabbath day on a specific
day of the week, then there is nothing wrong with that.

For those who use a different day and are ok with that, it's not a problem either.

Its what we do with it and how we treat it that matters. At least that's what I
think.

As for me I don't really get a sabbath days rest, at most it may be a half day (due to caring for
my elderly aunt, cooking, etc) and part of that entails going to church.

This means bus drivers have to work to enable me to go to church, my pastor has to work.
The worship team has to work (I use to be on the worship team we had
to be at church at 8am played through both services and didn't get home until around 1-30-2.00pm.)

Also the Sunday school teachers have to work, and to some degree all the volunteers involved the ushers,
the car park attendants, the prayer ministry team etc.
 
True people work many days and hours and it is not practical for some to keep a rest day. But this is because of us, not necessarily the trinity. It's a 7 day working week because of us. And ideally, nursing etc, on a Sunday etc, shouldn't really be work. We have made helping others, a profitable environment with less people doing it for others than before. But I think I agree that a particular day may not be important. Though Saturday is my knackered day. I pray god will strengthen his energy in me on Saturdays.

SUNday being the first day of the week, according to God it is a regular work day. God said Exodus:20:9: "Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:" THE seventh day is THE rest day. No other days have been set apart by God as a rest day.

I would as why worship shadows of the good rest to come?

Of course it is, Sunday is not the Biblical Sabbath; if your wanting to obey G-d and keep the Sabbath you can do what ever you want on Sunday.
 
I helped my Brother and Sister-in Law and their 5 kids move yesterday. It was A LOT of stuff.

I worked A LOT.
